A Quick Visit
By: Karahl Date: November 9, 2015, 3:05 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Karahl slipped through a very tight gap between two old
buildings in a rather busy section of Mobotropolis; so busy that
it's citizens were far too busy going about their daily busy to
notice. The tiger silently made quick side-steps for several
meters before sliding through a narrow hole in a wall; landing
in a rather empty room with plain walls, wooden floor and was
lit by candles.
However, the second she touched the floor the candles all went
out at once. Soon automated plasma guns fired, spinning
shuriken, kunai, knives and smoke grenades were all sent flying
in Karahl's direction. The tiger groaned internally, using both
her skills and instincts to dodge a majority of the incoming
attacks as she ran across to room towards the automated
machines, pulled out her tonfa and-
"WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!WAIT!" a panicked high pitched voice
squealed and just before Karahl got close enough to smash the
weapons to pieces they ceased fire and shut down. She stopped in
her tracks, stood up straight and sheathed her weapons. Her
right ear twitched towards the sound of a sigh of relief echoing
from the shadows to the right.
"You were seriously going to smash them to bits?! Do you have
any idea how long it took me to build those?" the same voice
demanded, it sounded feminine and like it belonged to someone a
few years younger than the striped assassin.
"You knew I would be arriving here soon. I'm never late." Karahl
replied calmly as she approached the voice hidden in the
shadows. She smiled and added, "I can see you, you know."
"That's not the point." the same voice from earlier insisted,
stepping out from the shadows was another white tiger Mobian,
dressed in the same black uniform as Karahl; making them look
almost identical except for the fact she had a slightly rounder
and fuller figure and dark blue eyes instead of cyan. She also
had a steaming mug of coffee in her hand and deep bags under her
eyes from lack of sleep in the last forever or so.
"...You forgot how to deactivate them, didn't you?" she said
flatly.
"I didn't forget such a thing." Karahl insisted.
"Then why didn't you do it?"
"It was too complicated."
"This isn't rocket science Karrie, all you had to do was
cross-point the algorithms, input the command in the-"
Karahl's middle and index finger gently pressed against the
other's mask as a request for science.
"See, Vallerah, it's already too complicated. A simple off
switch would suffice."
Vallerah let out a chuckle as she lead Karahl to the other room,
"Well it wouldn't be much of a security system if the intruders
could just turn things off with a flick of a switch, sister."
"You really need to be more in tune with your senses and
practice your training vigorously, then that way your own mind
can become the only security system you'll ever need."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Vallerah replied with a dismissive wave of a
hand, not really listening to the lecture as she made her way to
her workbench, picked up a screw driver and some
gadget-do-hickey to tighten the bolts on. She smiled softly as
she worked, "So, how's the big bad world aye? I heard that a
certain tiger had crossed paths with a dragon Down Town the
other day, must have been some fight you had."
Karahl took the seat opposite and looked at her with concern,
"What's eating at you Val? I never thought I'd see you run out
of energy. Ever."
Vallerah laughed, "Eating at me? Good one Karrie! Naw, I'm just
tired, I haven't slept a wink in eight days."
"Eight?!"
"Yeah pretty crazy am I right? Woohoo."
"What could you be possibly keep up for that long?
Vallerah pulled down her mask so that she could drink deeply
into her mug, "What else? Making more weapons and gadgets for
the clan. Knowing Mobians in the Black Market definitely helps
as well, so what can I do you for?"
"How about a hug for starters?" Karahl started with a smile,
walked around the work bench and gave her sister a long-awaited
embrace, "I'm glad that you're still safe, I've missed our
visits."
"Same here! So other than seeing how fabulously-coolie-cool I
am, what did ya need."
"I have another Contract."
"No duh!"
Karahl recounted about her encounter with Blackwind Operations
and set down the paperwork she had received onto the counter.
All the while her younger sister sat quietly and nodded
frequently as she listened to every word. Until she suddenly
jumped up and gasped when she came up with an idea, "I have just
the thing!"
