My Name is Sonic & I Am The Fastest Thing Alive!

Sonic was outside city hall standing at a podium as a crowd of
reporters and concerned citizens. He stood tall and spoke with a
clear voice.
"My name is Maurice Hedgehog and I am the fastest thing alive!
To many of you I'm a hero and a local celebrity. With the help
of my friends and the Freedom Fighters I fight crime and ward
off other super powered mobiens like me. Years ago I lead the
attack on Mobotropolis and reclaimed our city from the
tyrannical clutches of Dr.Robotnik. But in doing so I opened up
our city to a string of vengeful attacks by the madman and
others and I am the only one fast enough to stop them. Recently
a strange overlander called Eggman came to our world and started
thrashing my reputation. If I didn't care about the people of
this city would I have evacuated them all to the safety of
Knothole? When that crazy creature was threatening the city with
a moon sized energy attack?"
"That doesn't explain what we saw,He's working with
Robotnik,He's a sham! You should be in prison" Were some of the
statement slung his way by the press.

Eggman, whom had been watching from not to far off couldn't help
but chuckle. After repairing Beck he had vowed revenge, and now
it was his chance. He floated over in the Eggmobile before
speaking up. "Citizens of Mobotropolis! Allow me to Apprehend
this Fugitive. Clearly none of you will be a match for
something that can run at the speed of light..." He crossed his
arms, smiling to himself. " But I can. Using my advanced
technology I'll be able to capture and hold a creature that can
walk through walls by moving its particles about. None of your
Prisons would be able to hold him."
He pushed a few things on his consoles as Orbot and Cubot came
up, both of them with red and blue cone lights on their head.
"How embarrassing." Muttered Orbot.
"Embarrassing? We've never looked so flashy before! We can't
help if we are beautiful!" said Cubot.
Eggman glared down at sonic, his sinister smile spread wide. "
Your charade is up Hedgehog... Its time to give up and serve
your sentence..."

"Run, Sonic... Please, run..." A voice murmurred in the
distance; Natasha had hidden herself in some of the bushes,
looking at the display in disgust; he had literally just save
the entire city yet again, and this was how they related him?!
She wanted to help him, but she was no fighter; she wouldn't be
able to stand up to even a single guard, and she knew it. But,
if Sonic could just run, and hide for a moment... Maybe, just
maybe she could help him.

Sonic glared as Eggman approached. "YOU! This is all your fault.
Ha! You think a prison can hold me? I'm the greatest hero in the
world. I've escaped some of the most complicated death traps
devised." Hearing the distant voice telling him to run he
decided to ignore it and go with his gut. "You and I are going
to end this here. You've been a tack in my sneakers for far too
long." Sonic smiled as it almost seemed like he took off but he
was still standing on the spot.

"No, no you stubborn fool... Why do you have to be so blinded by
your pride?.." Natasha's heart was sinking as Sonic spoke, and
she had pretty much kissed any hope of him escaping away. She
knew he meant well, and that he would never betray Mobius the
way the others had been fooled into thinking, but he was letting
his ego get the best of him. She simply gritted her teeth and
watched hopelessly; she had to figure out some way to help him,
at least at some point. For now though, all she could do was
wait in that bush and pray.

" Hmm....as i said before. Reckless and naive." came a voice
from behind Natasha. It was Veira sitting on a light pole with
her arms crossed as she watched the events unfold. She simply
shook her head at the display. " This is not looking to
promising for the blue blur though.." she stated. She then
looked down to Natasha. " What do you plan to do? Help him?" she
asked.

Eggman smiled at Sonic. "You are the only one at fault here.
You've had many chances to end robotnik's reign, yet you let him
free. You are the reason people continue to die, why there is
still a threat to Mobius!" He slammed his hand on his console.
"I"m going to take you in, weither you are awake or unconscious
hedgehog!"
The blue gem on the front the Egg Mobile shined before a bubble
shot foreward towards sonic, which, should it hit him, would
catch him and keep him from moving, allowing his head to stick
out of the sticky green bubble.

The bubble that would seem to hit Sonic would phase right
through him. The image of the blue hedgehog flickered until it
vanished completely. Sonic was moving so fast he had left an
afterimage of himself it's what he referred to as a speed
mirage. Suddenly Sonic begun zipping around leaving a total of
five afterimages in different places. The first one spoke with a
smug grin. "What the matter Egghead?" The second one soon spoke.
"You can't hit what you can't see. Which one is the real one?"
He asked as all of them proceeded to laugh as their static
images would flicker.

Natasha turned for a moment to Veira, only giving her a moment
of her gaze before turning back to the issue at hand. "I... I
want to help him. But I know I can't. N-not in this kind of
scenario, at least." She watched as the first afterimage faded
away, her eyes widening a little at the display; Sonic was using
his speed to leave several mirages. She had heard the stories,
but she never knew they went 'this' far. "I-I guess... I just
have to wait for the right time." She just hoped he wouldn't be
foolish enough to actually let one of those weird-looking
bubbles touch him...

" He's going to fail....eventually. His little after image trick
won't last for very long. " she muttered to herself mostly. She
could see right through his movement, reguardless of her lack of
speed. You couldn't fool one who was tied to the spirit world.
Her finger track each way Sonic moved as if she was aiming a
weapon at him. A small frown soon arrived as she listened to
Natasha.
" What do you mean at least in this kind of scenario? You
believe he's innocent....dispite the broadcast and his attitude
lately, you still believe he's the hero everyone remembers. So
whats stopping you from speaking up?" she asked as she crossed
her arms again looking down at the feline.
