Free fall flight
By: Robin Date: October 8, 2015, 11:54 am
---------------------------------------------------------
(Sorry for the long wall of a post but I haven't gotten to do a
nice long wall post in ages and have been holding back on a lot
of writing and couldn't help myself. Mind you, this is the cut
down version of what I was originally going to write, so. The
start of this is set in Sapphire/Robin's timeline, so absolutely
no one else could've been there to see it all happen. The third
paragraph is when things start to happen in THIS timeline, if
you want skip ahead that paragraph, again, I just needed to get
some writing out.)
"[This is Green Leader, I am ready for launch. I repeat, ready
for launch. Green light?]" "[Copy that Green Leader, Green light
is a go, get you and your team out there and retrieve the
designated item]".
The soft humming sound of aircraft engines springing to life
filled the cold air as five seperate planes with pilots for each
all started up together. A nimble looking black plane sat at the
front with bright green and white markings across its wings and
body. Sitting close behind the leader plane where two slightly
bigger planes, both white, one with pink markings and one with
orange, the last two positioned behind the others where also
white, but one with light blue stripes and one with purple. All
five pilots where all set and ready to go in their designated
planes. "[Heyo Green Leader! Robin dude! Let's hope your planes
actually WORK this time huh? And not fall right outta the sky
like last time, now THAT'D be embarrassing to have happen during
a mission!]" The headsets of the flight crew's all filled with
laugher from four different people, only one of the crew wasn't
laughing. "[Yeah, otherwise they'll put ME as the new flight
crew leader! Then I'll have someone who can actually put two
blocks together properly build us some birds that might actually
fly!]" "[And how about the pain jobs? How come you get the only
black one?]" "[I wanted mine painted pink!]" Another roar of
laughter from four of the pilots.
The flyer of the leader plane sat in the cockpit, turning his
headset and helmet over about in his lap with his hands. Even
without it on, he could still hear what was being said.
He breathed out through his soft pink nose and opened his eyes
to reaveal a rather stunningly bright spring green pair. He then
ran a hand through his multi coloured chocolate coloured hair
and slumped back in his seat. "[Great to know my team has full
support in me.]".
They all began to start talking again but this time. Robin
wasn't listening. He turned off his communications to the rest
of his team "Let's show them what you're made of" He exclaimed
as he began the sequence of getting his aircraft ready for
flight.
The other four began to follow suit but found their planes
weren't working.
The wild dog lifted his finger off of the button that had
disabled his team's planes, ignoring their shouts of rage as
Robin and his plane started moving, it only took him seconds to
get his aircraft air born, his crew watched pathetically from
their seats as 'Green Leader' took to the skies without them.
"[With a device for a heart it's no surprise really, the guy's
basically a robot..]" "[With skin and fur]" "[And a heart and
soul along with a mind much better then the four of you combined
if sulking is how you're going to go about him leaving you
behind as he has. Yes we can all still hear you and I don't like
what I heard aimed at my son]" The four where out of the planes
in seconds and saluting the yellow two tailed fox who eyed the
four of them, walking past to stand where the black plane had
just been. "You'd all best hope he comes back safe and sound
otherwise they'll be BIG trouble. Times like these guys, we
can't afford to bully and muck around as you have. Am I
understood? I've lost him once. I won't let it happen again."

The nearer he drew to the city, the dark the sky got. It was
becoming only harder and harder to see through the blanket of
thick dark clouds that blocked out the sun. Robin sat up in his
seat and peered out the front window glass, "There it is...
Mobotropolis" He said to himself as he gripped the planes
control handles tightly and let out a puff of air. "You've just
got to find what they took from Dad, and bring it back safety...
No biggie! I can get this done in... 30 minutes. Tops I've just
gotta-" BLAM! One of his screen console started to flash red
warnings of system failures. Again he looked this time to his
left to where the shot had hit his plane. Black smoke billowed
out of the side of his plane, but not even its darkness could
cover up the plane flying side by side him and who was inside...
He frowned. It was... Him! And his best friend... Sapphire! The
plane was similar too, coloured differently but mostly the same
as the one he was sitting in right at this moment.
"[Oooohhh! It's Iggle Robbiekins! Come to play? How's about a
game of tag? You're it!]" The other plane jerked to the side and
collided with Robin's plane, pushing him and his aircraft down,
more system warnings popped up and flashed at him, urging him to
solve the inflicting damage being caused by the second aircraft.
Robin cursed under his breath but then noticed something very
important.
The object they where after, the object he and his crew where
set out to bring back.... Was aboard the other plane.
After having almost grounded Robin's plane the other aircraft
then moved off and shot up ahead. He couldn't loose sight of it,
he needed that thing back, and if they had it, he had to get in
from them.
He thrusted the controls forwards and his plane sped up, the
engine roaring on both pkanes as they soared across the dark
gloomy skies. Robin was gaining on them. Fast. They swerved
between broken buildings and bits that blocked the path, trying
to shake the Green Leader, but nothing worked.
Robin rammed his planed right into the other one and something
not strapped in went soaring out the front of the other plane's
window. Robin immedently dived for it, glancing to his scanners
his gut feeling was right. That was it. The other two noticed
their important object was gone a few seconds later and dived
after Robin, but he was ahead of them. He was going to reach it
first.
Hitting a blue button he opened the cockpit up, still soaring
down after the precious object, going down.. Down.. Doooowwwn.
He'd got it! He placed it in his lap and then jerked at the
controls to pull up his plane to avoid colliding with the
ground, but he'd reacted simply too late. He was going to crash
and be stuck here in the now ghost town of a city with his and
his friend's anti's, the last two people he'd probably ever want
to be stuck with.
Except, he didn't crash, not yet. Everything seemed to be
slowing down actually, he noticed that the retrieved item was
glowing in his lap, brightly to the point it was blinding he
covered his eyes but there was still that blinding light,
nothing else now just. Light.

The light was clearing now and he was somehow still falling
"Oof!" Ge grunted as something whipped his face, leaving a large
gash across his right cheek which started to bleed. Ignoring the
new pain from it he pulled again at he controls of the plane
trying desperately to get it going back up into the air and not
crashing down. Seeing green up ahead he had to assume his plane
just wasn't going to start up before it hit the ground. He
reached for the seat eject button, but hitting it in did
nothing. He pulled at his seat belt, gritting his teeth as his
fur and hair whipped about in the wind still defending through
the air down towards the awaiting ground below. He couldn't undo
it. He was going to crash. He hugged onto the wanted object and
right as he did so the plane collided with the ground... With a
watery ground... He'd landed right in the middle of Knothole
lake, the part of the lake he knew to be the deepest part.
He struggled again to undo his belt, eject his seat, break the
plane even, nothing was working and he was sinking fast, already
he couldn't feel the water around his feet and tail. Panic
flooded his mind as the water swallowed him and his plane up,
now it was past his waist. He had one thing left that he could
do, struggling to try and squirm out of his locked seatbelt he
called out "HELP! HELP!" as the water rose up his chest, his
breathing gaining speed. Would someone come to his aid in time?

The ears of a particular and somewhat hefty feline popped out
from the brush as the call for help filled them. Who would be
out this far and need help? Not many people visited Knothole
Lake these days. Although, that was a splash she heard just
before it, right? What harm could come from taking a peek at
what was going on; that was exactly what she would do! The
paunchy cat peeked out of the bushes near the lake, curious as
to what was going on exactly; still, her curiosity knew limits,
as she kept herself hidden in the bushes, not wanting to be in
over her head.

No response yet, Robin's eyes widened in fear, he could see now
why his best friend held such a fear of the liquid, this is what
it must always feel like for her.... It was horrible.
Reaching his chin, he lifted his muzzle up and then suddenly- He
had stopped sinking.
Robin let out a breath of relief, obviously his plane had turned
back end down and hit the bottom of the lake. Thank chaos!
He took the time to get his breath back and try again at
unclipping himself from his plane, but his seatbelt was now
underwater and it was hard to see anything that had gone under
the water's surface.
A lightbulb moment hit him, of course! There was always a knife
kept on his plane, where'd he put it? There!
Robin pulled at his seatbelt binding him to the plane to give
himself more air space and reached out, trying to get the
covered knife, it wasn't too far away but it was far enough away
to be just out of reach of the wild dog.
He huffed, annoyed, then there was a loud groan. Robin froze,
that wasn't from him. He gulped and then looked down, it was his
plane "No.. Nonononono!" He yelled as the middle of it snapped
in two and Robin's half was brought down into the water,
bringing his head down underneath as well. He was distraught at
the state of his plane but he really needed to get himself out
of here, he reached again for the knife as if it was his only
chance out and at the moment, it somewhat was, or at least in
Robin's eyes.
Try as he might though he still could just not reach it and he
was running out of breath.

"Put your feelings aside, you can kiss him when he's been
pulled out alive." "Roger that Ce." Fem had been
warped straight on top of one of the parts of the wrecked
fighter jet which left her elbows deep in the water, A quick way
to get her accustomed to the temperature really. A pair of
goggles had also been warped onto her head in transition.
"Don't think, just dive!" she thought to herself as she
did just that and jumped into the water the rest of the way. It
was a somewhat murky view under the water but the goggles made
it easier to see. "Thank you Ceil!" "No problem hon
but stay focused."It was a few seconds before Fem had eyes
on the front of the plane, and there she saw him, and she
literally froze up. "Knew it..." an orange glow started
to form in Fem's eyes before she kept on going, looking around,
spotting the knife she swam over to it and grabbed it before
taking a slash at the belt. If she was able to slash it off of
Robin, she'd make a grab for his wrist and try to yank him up
towards the surface. The orange glow in her eyes fading as they
got to the top.

---------------------------------------------------------
Robin had been slowly loosing conscious the longer he stayed in
the water, his vision was starting to blank out, little black
dots filled his view at a rapid pace and he watched air bubbles
escape his mouth and float to the top of the lake, the top of
the lake that he'd never reach....
Wrong!
Robin felt the pressure of his buckled seat belt loosen, not
just loosen but it released him entirely. He was a bit too out
of it to act upon is though so it was a good thing that the
hedgefox then grabbed his wrist and yank him up, for a second
neither would go up, Robin had one of his legs stuck beneath the
controls of the plane, however he dealt with this part himself
as with his free leg he booted the controls off of it other leg,
freeing it, allowing his saviour to then pull him up to the
water's surface.
Upon his head popping out from beneath the water Robin coughed
and hacked, trying to rid his system and mouth of any water that
had managed to get in. That and the water still there was still
making it hard to breath.
He was getting in some air though which was a lot better then
being stuck in that seatbelt in his plane at the bottom of
Knothole lake.
He eventually got his arms moving, to keep himself afloat, but
making sure that the arm moving with his helpers hand in his
wrist didn't make it harder for whomever had helped him.
Speaking of which, they where hard to see past all his wet hair
and fur in his face. He ran a hand through his hair to push it
on of his eyes, it was time he saw just who had saved his life
aftera- oh my holy flipping gosh.
Robin's jaw dropped, making his mouth fill with water again, he
closed his mouth, put it to the side and spat it back out again
though, not taking his eyes off of her. She... She was so...
Robin clenched his teeth and let out a dog-like whine of pain,
putting a hand to his stomach as a sharp pain shot through that
area. Bringing his hand back out it was soaked red.
He held his breath and swam underneath Fem before coming back up
underneath her so that she was now on his back before he then
swam himself and her over to the banks of the lake.
Reaching the muddy banks he walked up on all fours, Madeliene
still on top of his back unless she moved off of him, he didn't
seem to mind her there though. He slipped up a few times,
getting mud all in his fur, on his underside and on his chin but
he kept going until he'd reached grass. Upon doing so he'd drop
down onto his tummy, making him groan in pain as his wound came
into contact with something. Fem's slash was successful in
freeing him but it was also successful in gaining Robin a new
slash across his stomach as it had cut through the belt, his
pilot suit and his body, it wasn't too bad though, he was
bleeding a fair bit, but he'd live.
Robin stayed where he was on the ground, face down, panting and
coughing every now and then but breathing. Alive. He couldn't
believe it.

She heard something for sure; she heard a voice... A survivor of
the crash? But wait, who was that who had just appeared on top
of the wreck? She could feel her chest tighten; she was afraid.
She was always afraid of stuff like this. But, what if those
people were friendly? What if they needed help? She knew what
she 'wanted' to do, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
That's when an idea popped into her head; a bird's eye view was
what she needed! Carefully she jumped and grabbed a low branch
of a nearby oak, flailing her legs about as she pulled her
stocky frame upwards, weaving between the leaves to find a good
spot to see everything from.
Carefully she stuck her head out of the cover, looking more like
some sort of small squirrel with an overgrown head. Now she
could see what was going on more clearly; there were two people
at the lakes edge! "Hello? Are you alright?" This was safe, and
she could see if she could help them, if they were friendly that
was. It didn't seem like they would be any sort of trouble,
and-... Wait... What was that noise?...
SNAP!
With little warning, the branches give way under her, sending
her tumbling down through the branches like a pinball machine.
After a few moments, she finally flopped on the ground, her face
buried in some conveniently placed leaves that softened the
landing a little, although there were plenty tangled in her hair
already. Curse her portly figure; now she was out in the open!
She certainly hoped the two she saw were friendly as she groaned
a little, sitting upright with her eyes rolling and head
spinning; she had landed smack dab right in front of them. At
least she wasn't hurt; that was good, right?

"This beats guarding weddings from white-" "Ponti.
Loose frequency." Well that made no sense to Fem, but
there'd be time to question it later, she was sure, as she had
the boy that she'd been wanting for a while, right next to her.
A small smile came onto her face and she let out a slight "Oh."
as Robin swam underneath her and pulled her onto his back and
carried her to the shore.
"Brave." "He always is with you hon." Fem would
move herself off of him after they were both up and out of the
water. There was worry on her as Robin let out a groan of pain.
Hey-" she wouldn't get the chance to finish as Natasha
and her figure came on a one way trip to 'spotted'land, the
sudden appearance and the condition of Robin meant she had her
rifle out in an instant, aimed at Natasha's head.
"Easy hon. She's a friendly." came Ceil's voice as she
put a white hand on Fem's shoulder. The Hedgefox lowering her
weapon at the Orange hedgefox's words. Since Natasha wasn't to
be of concern, Fem would somewhat ignore the cat further and
turn her attention to Robin.
"What's-" "He just needs a clean and a patch up where
he's been cut open hon. Here." A pack of plasters was held
out, and as Fem took hold of them, she recognised something odd.
The hand that held them out was white and light blue. This
prompted her to take a full look, and who she saw, was the light
blue and white smiling face of her male self.
"Ce? Madness?"
"Hard to tell, isn't it hon?" yep, that was Ceil alright.
But why did she look like the male form of Fem? "If you can't
tell the differences, then chances [glow=gold,2,300]are,
Streisand won't be able to either."[/glow] her voice
changing to match the male hedgefox's as she spoke. "I
thought you didn't deal with things as low level as the
Faction?" [glow=gold,2,300]"Let's just say we've found a
peaceful fix hon. I'll see you again later."[/glow] the
disguised figure disappearing at that. After Ceil disappeared,
Fem turned her attention back to Robin, wanting to patch him up
with the given plasters, but unsure of how to flip him without
hurting him. The idea of asking Natasha (the one there) for any
suggestions came to mind, but she didn't even get her name let
alone if she could be any help. Just that she meant no harm to
her or Robin.

Robin wheezed before looking up after hearing the snap. What
could it of came from? Was it a bone breaking? No no no, don't
be silly it was more like... A branch! A twig!
He had to blink a few times to clear his vision before he could
actually see Natasha straight, he tried to get up to help her
but his body hurt too much from all the thrashing about in the
plane. The plane.... His plane!
Fem wouldn't need to turn him over it seemed as Robin pushed
himself painfully over onto his back, gasping for breath a few
times and coughing, but he still pushed himself up into somewhat
of a sitting position and watched as the rest of his plane
bubbled under the waterey depths of Knothole Lake. Robin sighed
and his ears went down as he laid back on his back and rested a
fisted hand on his forehead. His plane, his work, it was all now
on the bottom of the lake.
The wild dog chose not to think about it for the moment and
instead looked down to his stomach. Which made him cringe. Blood
and mud covered his entire stomach and made him feel quite
faint.
He opened his mouth and let out a distressed sound "Ah" Before
taking in a breath and starting to undo his torn pilot suit. He
pulled lightly at the zip that started a little way's under his
chin on his neck and went all the way down to between his legs.
Robin only got to pull it down to the start of his chest though,
some of his fuzzy, but currently, damp, fur sticking out and up.
Robin moved his hands instead to his head and removed his
headgear with some difficulties, dropping it after remove it to
let it roll to Fem's side, he didn't see that she had plasters
and things to help him, but help, he would greatly appreciate.
Robin have another cough and some blood mixed with water he'd
abviously swallowed whilst in the lake came up and dribbled from
the corner of his mouth, he also wasn't doing too well at
staying focused either as he missed Fem putting the gun to
Natahsa and Ceil entirely.
The wild dog just laid there, breathing rather slowly, trying
not to focus on the pain the cut on his stomach brought him, but
even all of this, didn't stop him from talking or at least
trying to "[sub]...A..are you... Okay Miss?...[/sub]" He asked
wearily, opening his eyes to look at her with his big green
ones, but only momentarily. He'd put the parts together and
figured that maybe Natasha had been the one to snap something,
she had landed right there after all. He hoped she hadn't broken
anything.
He then looked to Fem and looked as though for one moment he was
considering taking one of her hands in his, "[sub]Y..you...
Saved my.. My life.... Thank you...[/sub]"

Natasha almost instantaneously curled up into a ball, frightened
beyond belief; no, they were not friendly it seemed. At least,
not until she heard a voice; but, it wasn't one of them, so who
was it? By the time she looked up, whoever it was had
disappeared, but she was still shaking like a ball of jello in
fear of the hedgefox in front of her. Why was she so quick to
pull a gun on a good-intending girl like her?
Still, her sense of curiosity and concern outweighed that of her
fear when she heard the injured dog speak, asking if she was
alright; ironic of him to ask, considering his state. "I-I'm
fine; at least, I'll be fine if 'Miss Gun-Nut' doesn't shoot me
like a bandit..." Slowly she let herself uncurl, brushing away
the twigs and dust that had gotten caught in her hair before she
crawled somewhat slowly towards him, making an obvious attempt
to stay as far away from Mad as possible in the process. "She
hasn't saved you yet, you're still in horrible shape; oh, what
to do, what to do..." She looked to the wreckage before her,
wondering how had even managed to survive the impact; still, at
least he was alive. "Y-you wouldn't happen to have had a medkit
of some sort on your plane, would you? I-I could go swim out and
get it if you do, otherwise..." She pulled her jacket off
gently, glancing down; it was her favorite jacket, but letting
him use it to bandage himself was a little more meaningful.

A gurgle of a noise came from the back of Robin's throat and he
winced, closing his eyes, writhing slightly in pain, raising his
chest and back off of the ground slightly for a few moments
before resting back down, "[sub]...I..It'd be t..too
difficult..to get to Miss..-" He clenched his teeth in pain for
a few seconds before wheezing again, and trying to continue on
"[sub].. Too many of t..the broken plane parts...would be on
top.. On top of it.." He looked wearily up at Natasha again but
managed to give her a smile "Thanks anyways though... But I
can't..have you going and risking your life..." Robin also tried
to push back her jacket if she offered it, seeing her take it
off, the way she looked at it... It must've meant something to
her, his own life in danger or not, he still felt bad about her
using it on him for him...
But Robin wasn't really strong enough to protest it either at
the moment, or to protest anything for that matter, "[sub]...
It's a better way to go though really... isn't it?[/sub]" He
asked, looking at both of the girls, both whom he knew nothing
of but felt comforted by both whilst they where in his presence,
"[sub]Better than.....[sub] than.....[sub]
drowning....[/sub][/sub][/sub]" He said softly and slowly as his
eyes began to droop down wearily. Surley he wasn't going to die
but it was possibly for him to loose conscious/faint. Question
was, what where the two girls- who hadn't gotten off to a right
start so far- going to do about him?
