Honor & Dishonor

Sally had the group of heroes and the commanding officers
escorted back to the castle. They would wait around in the
throne room talking to each other until her return. It was a
private gathering so only the Princess and a few royal guards
were present. Sally had changed to a regal dress fit for
royalty. In truth she hated the dress but it was the expected
attire of a princess during an award ceremony. She soon returned
carrying a blue cushion with golden medals laying atop it. With
a smile she watched as they lined up and begun the ceremony. "We
gather here today to celebrate the victory of these brave
heroes. They who would stand and fight when anyone lesser would
have fled. We honor your bravery and valor on the field of
battle and defense of the realm."
She started at the front of the line presenting the first medal
to the Dominion mercenary. "To Ajax for outstanding response and
coordination on the battlefield. You whipped a rag tag team into
a formidable fighting force along with shutting down the
roboticizer."
The next medal was for Soul. "Sir Soul you arrived on the scene
and provided the cover other so sorely needed during the heated
battle." Sally then looked to Blitz and presented them with the
prize. "You and your men saved the life of one of Mobius's
greatest heroes. Wear it with pride." Next she placed one over
Anton's shoulders. "Your quick thinking and even quicker trigger
finger helped us achieve this decisive victory." Sally smiled
giving each of the wolf brothers their own badge of honor. "Boys
your elemental attacks made it possible to breach the hull of
Robotnik's machine. Thank you for your bravery."
As the princess approached Guntram she seemed disgusted. "I
guess you are proof not everything G.U.N dose is morally
corrupted. Thank you brave bird." Sally lowered her head lightly
and presented R with her token. "Lady R your skill with a sword
is some of the best I've ever seen. I can truly appreciate your
dedication to such a noble weapon. Your participation in this
battle was nothing short of selfless." When getting to Sapphire
she placed the gold around her neck and stopped looking
confused. "I'm sorry Miss but I don't know your name. The royal
records do not seem to have your birth certificate. Were you
born outside the kingdom?" She asked pulling the pillow back
that was now empty.

Sapphire watched as Sally gave out the medals to (almost)
everyone who had been there in the fight against Robotnik and
his giant metal dragon. She didn't really feel as though she had
earnt her medal when the Princess reached her finally and placed
the gold award around her neck but she was given one anyway, she
did help with the SWATbots she guessed and Sonic did say his
head would've been mush if she hadn't stepped in as well and
knocked Robotnik away from him, focusing on those two thoughts
out her mind at ease at having the gold around her neck.
But her mind couldn't rest just yet, her bright cyan eyes went
up to Sally's brilliant blue ones as the Peincess questioned
her. Her name unknown and no birth certificate that the heir of
Acorn could find to know who Sapphire was. The hedgehog
swallowed.
"Sapphire. M...my name's Sapphire, Sapphire the Hedgehog and..."
She didn't want to lie but technically she wasn't about to,
"Yes. I was born outside the kingdom" She gave a quick nod and
then looked down at the floor. "Thank you for the award your
Highness... But.. Uh... Sonic.. He rescued you from the evil
doctors dragon and finished it off, he was also the first on the
scene of your rescue. Where's his medal? Oh wait! You've
organised something even bigger for him right?... Right?" The
small blue hedgehog asked, giving a faint hopeful smile to the
royal squirrel.

Blitz looked at the medal given to her by the Princess. It
was...strange, to say the least. But something came into her
thoughts that beared an urgent conversation, but it could wait
after the ceremony. Blitz looked over to the stuttering blue
girl and smiled. She was alot like Blitz's foster sister, Odepa
Adroopa. Shy, diverts attention away from herself, and loves to
help others. Blitz then thought she'd have to visit her and
Sizam sometime later. So much is happening, but I'm still
curious; is the Princess even aware of my place within society?
Sure, my androids managed to save the life of Mobius' 'greatest'
hero, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't excuse many things from
my past. Gonna address this to her in private later.

Blaze was relieved that Sally managed to speak on the brothers
behalf about the street incident. But then they were asked to
accompany her to the castle for an award ceremony. Well that was
a bit unexpected but okay. Blaze accepted his award and gave a
light bow to the princess. " I am honored to accept this award.
Thank you your highness." Blaze said with a smile. He too looked
at Sapphire a bit with a puzzled look. She was pretty close to
Sonic's speed. Blaze wonder a bit about the girl.

Anton nodded as he received his medal, then he saluted the
princess.
He didn't say anything, his doctrine said that he was to
acknowledge the medal then salute the princess to show his
gratitude. That and he was required to keep the pose until they
were dismissed.
To him the medal didn't matter a whole lot, it was just a
glorified piece of metal in the end, it was what it represented
that got to him. Although he didn't really do a whole lot to be
honest, he managed to shot the greatest hero on accident and try
to pierce the dragon's eyes. Oh well, if the princess though he
had done well then he wouldn't question her.

There was a small moment as the SWAT team looked at each other,
then they lowered their weapons.
"Very well, they're pardoned," the squad leader relented as he
and the others walked back to the helicopter for extraction,
"but we won't covering the repair costs in that case."
As they got ready to life off, Guntram handed control over to
Zoya 2 and disembarked to follow the others back to the capital.
To say he was disappointed that he wasn't awarded a medal
wouldn't be wrong, however, with the G.U.N's reputation it was
understandable.
The fact that he was here to begin with was an accomplishment,
that she acknowledged him, a G.U.N operative.
"You're most welcome, your highness," he replied with all the
dignety he had in him, "i hope i can show the better side of the
G.U.N."
As she moved on he sighed, he didn't support G.U.N as such,
however, they had him by the nuts as they provided him with the
gunships he flew and his team mates were there, but they weren't
indoctrinated either.
"Even if we were ready to defect properly," he muttered,
"provided we could keep flying what we fly."

He nodded his head in gratitude of recieving the medal with a
sincere smile. To be honest he never really cared for fame and
recieving awards..his urge to help people was practically a job
for him to do. His smile quickly vanished as soon as the
princess handed everyone else thier medals..he was still
thinking about the evil dictator always managed to escape death
regardless if it seemed impossible to do so. Makes you wonder if
Sonic purposedly let him escape so many time for all these
years.
He stares out into the horizan with his arms crossed daydreaming
about the danger..and what lies ahead in the future..just what
is the madman planning..and what was the point of capturing
Sally? "Something tells me..our job isnt done yet.."he mutters
as he narrows his eyes once again.

Once the group was escorted to the throne room, the cyan
hedgehog was awed at his surroundings. He had never been inside
a castle before, soon they were lined up and the princess had
medals .for each of the victors. Soul gave a bow at Sally as she
awarded him the medal, "Thank you for the award your highness,
but it was nothing at all, I just did what I had to do..." he
said with a smile, then looked down observing the award. He
looked at the blue hedgehog gal who came from outside of the
kingdom, she sure was a fast little fella like Sonic, however
what she said made the hedgehog a bit curious.

Ajax looked unimpressed by the gold trinket presented to him,
another glorified piece of metal. Still, he bowed to remain
polite, tucking it away in his armor for the time being. "I did
was was expected of me... I've been awarded enough medals for
that..." In truth, the lynx never enjoyed being a center of
attention. Even if it was a private event, he held a sort of
distaste for this. Monuments and titles were given to the
fallen, not the surviving. "Perhaps the pleasantries can be
acknowledged now that we have a moment of quiet." He looked to
Sapphire, as she called herself; the girl he had attended to
during the fighting. Seeing that smile of hers was a more
lighthearted detail to take note of, one that he was glad he was
able to allow. "Perhaps..."

"You are all very welcome." She said with a smile as she set
aside the cushion pushing her hair out of her eyes. As Sapphire
asked Sally a question she shook her head. "Unfortunately not.
But rejoice for I have glorious news. Today by Royal Decree I
Sally of house Acorn first of my name banish Maurice Sonic
Hedgehog from the city of of Mobotropolis. You are found guilty
of crimes against the crown and high treason." Sally pulled a
small CPU from her sleeve and gave a command. "N.I.C.O.L.E
display please." The device gave a beep and spoke back in a
digitized voice.
"Displaying Sally."
Suddenly holographic images of Sonic stealing classified
documents were displayed. The next part of the footage showed
him using a radio to send an encrypted message to Dr.Robotnik.
"Sonic has been leaking secrets to the enemy. I've come to the
conclusion that he sells secrets to Robotnik so he can continue
to play hero. Without an enemy what's a hero to do hrmm?" Sally
stopped the visuals and gave a command in a harsh voice. "Guards
seize and remove him from the sight. They did as she said and
managed to restrain Sonic who was in shock at all of this.
