Feeling a bit Blue without you

(Set after the Eggmanland events c:
Sonic and Amy only until stated otherwise please )

"Check, check annnnd check!" The pink furred hedgehog said
excitedly, as she ticked off some tick off boxes with a pen, on
a small clipboard she had in her right hand, she placed the
clipboard and pen aside after everything was checked off of it,
everything except just one thing-
"Now to see if the others are up for coming" Amy smiled to
herself, the hedgehog was in a good mood after having completed
all her work, and after finishing set up a dinner set for not
just her but her close friends as well, it had been a while
since she got to meet with them.
It would be a great way to catch up!
That is, if they where available. Her ears lowered and her lower
lip stuck out sadly, a sad frown replaced her happy smile from
before. "Ohh... Maybe I should've... Should've checked to see if
they where available BEFORE I made dinner.." She looked at the
prepared meal and table. She had even picked out a nice table
cloth with all their colours on it and everything, she had spent
majority of the day setting it all up just right too.
Amy couldn't help but sigh disappointingly, she had tried to
contact all the friends she could in anyway she could, but none
had answered.
She tried everything in the ways of reaching Sonic, leaving
voice messages on everything of his that she could, saying a
simple message of that she had prepared dinner for him and the
others if they where interested in dropping by and catching up.
Maybe they where just all busy?
The pink hedgehog sighed loudly, sitting alone at her prepared
dinner for at least four to five people. She had an elbow on the
table, and her right cheek against her elbowed rested fist,
staring down at the food she had worked so hard at to make
earlier, she poked at it with her fork for a few moments, but
then gave up.
She just wasn't hungry...
Amy looked at her prepared table and meal again, a small bowl of
mint treats for Tails, a bigger bowl full of grapes for
Knuckles, and a large plate full of Chilidogs just for Sonic.
Accompanied by other things like salads and fruit bowls, as well
as some meats on sticks and even a small plate of cookies, you
can't go wrong with cookies.
What was she going to do with all the food? Looks like the
fridge will be eating it for the moment.
She pushed out her chair and got to her feet, after pushing away
her plate of fruit and meat.
Time to pack it all away then she guessed.
Away went the fruit, then the meat, the bowl of grapes, the mint
candy. She put a hand against her right hip and huffed, annoyed
when she couldn't fit the cookies and Chilidogs in however. She
left them out on the table, she'd figure something out.
For now, she had to focus on getting the beds she had set out
for them packed back up too.
The red and yellow sleeping bags where rolled up alone and then
packed back into the cupboard she had stored them in, she paused
on getting to the blue one however.
She picked it up and held it tightly in her hands, "Oh Sonic..."
She sighed, "I wish I could be with you on whatever crazy
adventure you're on right now" She said softly to herself,
regretting that she hadn't followed him the last time she had
seen him. "Wherever could you be, Blue?" She asked the blue
sleeping bag, giving it a shake, "Mobius' greatest hero and I
can't find you anywhere...", Her lower lip stuck out again and
her eyes glassed up slightly, she missed her friends, she really
did, but she had to admit, Sonic was proving hard to live
without.

Sonic walked the rest of the way to Amy's cabin for a change. He
took the time to admire the trees and the lakeside view. He took
in a deep breath of that clean air away form the hustle and
bustle of the busier parts of the city. He placed his hands
behind his head and closed his eyes listening to the chirps of
the birds and the tranquil sounds of the forest. Sonic was
feeling calmer by the second as he exhaled feeling almost at one
with nature. Like a soft wind he blew through the rest of the
trees and reached the wooden planks that made the docks into
Amy's place. Sonic stopped when he realized he hadn't visited
her in months it had almost been a year. He looked down to his
wrist com and saw over twenty missed messages from Amy. He
gritted his teeth and made a nervous noise. "I'm going to need a
plan." He told himself as he stopped halfway.He started talking
to himself trying opening lines. "Hey Amy how ya doing? Oh me?
You know just saving the world... No she'll see through that. So
23 missed messages I'll have to fire my agent for not telling
me. No Amy knows I can't afford an agent.... Oh hey Amy is it me
or have you gotten prettier? I mean look at how positively pink
you are. No I don't wanna send the wrong message." If Amy
listened closely she could see Sonic talking to himself on her
porch.

Amy did indeed hear Sonic, she didn't exactly catch what it was
he was saying, but she could hear his voice and that was enough
for the pink hedgehog. She ran over to the door, her hands on
the door handle and- she didn't open it.
Amy bit her lower lip, should she open the door?
He hadn't exactly knocked and seemed rather busy talking away
with himself, but then why was he doing that on her front porch
unless he had came to see her?
She smiled and then twisted and pulled the handle, swinging the
door open.
Amy put a hand on her cheek when she saw the blue hedgehog,
jeez... How long had it been? A year or so now? Since they had
seen each other. She felt like she was falling in love with him
again.
"Oh Sonic!" She smiled at him and made herself continue to look
at him and not look away, "It's been too long!... How are you
Blue?" She then looked to the left and then the right, "Who
where you talking to just now? Aren't you cold? Do you want to
come inside?".

Sonic seemed surprised as Amy burst out of the house. "Oh who
was I talking to....ahhh I was just trying out some new battle
insults." He took a heroic stance and pointed towards Amy. "Not
Today Robotnik." He then shrugged and smiled. "See? Yeah I'd
love to come in Amy. It' been a while I hope you don't mind but
I have a favor to ask you."

Amy covered her mouth to stifle a giggle as he said he was
practising some battle insults and then demonstrated one on her,
"New phrases are great, but keep up your usual ones, you know
like 'Catch me if you can' and 'Juice and Jam time' they're
classic phrases-Mmmm... Speaking of Juice and Jam, if you're
hungry,nice got plenty of Chilidogs and cookies here if you want
one of maybe even a few" She said, as she reached out and took
his hands, backing up as she brought him inside her house and
then let go to go and shut the door once he was in.
She returned to his side and smiled looking at him, "A favour?"
She questioned, putting a finger to her lips before she nodded,
"What's the favour Sonic? You know I'll do anything for yo- for
a great friend, like you" She said, correcting herself mid
sentence.

"Gotta stick with the classics." He replied. Sonic turned a
little red seeming embarrassed as he placed his hand behind his
head. "Well you see my house has been messed up pretty bad
and....well I don't have a place to stay. Some stupid girls
somehow blew up my apartment......Ember and Topaz I think they
were called. Real rockstars or something. I've just landed a
gig signing autographs for a new [park that has opened. Maybe we
could go sometime?" He said hoping she couldn't be annoyed at
how long it had been.

Amy watched him go red with embarrassment, she had to be honest
here, she thought it rare seeing Sonic go red faced.
She put her hands over her mouth hearing that his house had been
messed up the point that he didn't have anywhere to stay, "Oh
Sonic..." She had a good idea on who had left the poor blue hero
in this spot too. Robotnik. But her thoughts where corrected
when Sonic explained that some Ember and Topaz blew up his
apartment, she shook her head in disbelief, that's no way to
treat a hero!
She looked around her place, pulling out a red hair band and
pulling her pink spikes up into a high pony tail, before looking
back at Sonic, "You're more then welcome to stay at my place for
as long as you need, Sonic" She smiled, even more so when he
mentioned something about a park, "I would love to go with you!"

Sonic let out a sigh of relief for a moment their he thought he
was going to be thrown out on his a,ss. When Amy tied her hair
up Sonic nodded in approval. "Thanks Amy real lifesaver you are.
Hey not bad that looks cute. You should do that more often."
Sonic said before cracking his fingers and collapsing on the
couch. "Amy since your letting me stay here I've got a few
things to tell you. I couldn't come to any of the dinners you
planned because I didn't have the heart to tell you. Knux has
moved back to Angel Island and Tails.........well Tails is."
Sonic took a deep breath and tried not to choke up.
"Well......he's...." He couldn't do it...he hadn't accepted it
yet himself, he didn't want to. "He's at a camp somewhere high
in the mountains, for genius kids or something like that."

Amy tried to look away the hide her blush when he said her
hairstyle looked cute, but she didn't do it very well, "Y..you
really think so?...Thanks Sonic" She said softly, before
watching him flop onto her couch, "If you want, I could get you
out a mattress, some pillows and a blanket or two? Or you could
use my bed, whatever works for you" She offered, frowning
slightly after it, did she just offer her bed to him?
She listened as he talked. Knuckles apparently was back on Angel
Island, fair enough, he had a Master Emerald to watch over,
didn't he?
When he struggled to say about Tails, Amy covered her mouth, her
ears low and an upset expression on her pink face. She knew
Sonic too well to fall for his change in story...
"Oh.. Sonic.." She looked at him sympathetically and then sat
down on the couch beside him, hesitantly taking one of his hands
and squeezing it gently to give him some sort of comfort. She
wasn't going to make it worse though, by confirming that Tails
was gone and dismissing his camp idea. She just closed her eyes
for a few moments, holding onto his hand. She would've done
more, threw her arms around him and hugged him until he wanted
her to let go, even let him cry on her shoulder if it came to
that, if he opened up to her that much, but she remembered that
he didn't seem to like her hugs, so she didn't. Wouldn't want to
make it worse after all.
"Is my True Blue Hero in any chance hungry?" She pipped up,
maybe some food will lighten the mood?
"I made Chilidogs, just the way you like them" She smiled.

This was it the part where he was supposed to treat Amy like
dirt only something felt off. He couldn't' think of a single
mean thing to say,here was a friend offering compassion shelter
and his favorite food. Amy whom he often ignored or put on the
back burner for other things was here being this nice. Sonic
choked up a little at all the emotion he was feeling he felt
terrible for how he treated Amy. He couldn't believe her was
ever so stupid to treat her just like another fan. Sonic pulled
her into a hug really trying to keep himself together as he
hated crying. He held Amy pretty tight as if to say sorry for
the neglect and being a massive jerk. He held her for a fair
moment before pulling away placing his hands on her shoulders.
Sonic's expression was happy but if one looked close enough they
could swear his eyes were glassy as he was touched by her
kindness. "Amy....I'm...Sor....Look you're the best friend I've
ever had. No matter what you've always been there for me. Amy"
Sonic took a deep breath and spoke the following. "I'm sorry for
being such a jerk to you. It was a mistake to treat you like
another fan. I've gotta admit from the day I saved you from
Metal Sonic I never expected thats when I would find my best
friend. I'll save the being a jackass for other people from now
on. Thank you." Sonic turned away and begun to sniffle before
sucking it up not letting her see. "So....how about those
chilidogs huh?" He said trying to change the subject.
