       Trouble Arises
By: Lori the Hedgehog Date: November 3, 2014, 9:42 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
It was daytime, in a village of sorts with Mobians selling
things left and right, with all sorts of stalls for food, items,
clothing. There was quite a crowd, with people from all over
Mobius here, walking around, talking to the vendors or with
friends, some others eating. It seemed normal here, considering
       this was a market town.
But then some hooligans in cloaks pushed past many in the crowd,
knocking over people to get to one stall in particular- the
weapons stall. An amber hedgehog was talking to this stall's
vendor, her attention focused on the vendor and not the fast
approaching hooligans. As the words "...and here's 8 Mobiums..."
came out of her mouth, the hooligans knocked her over and took a
brown bag out of her reach.
"Iblis-damn it all, not again!" she muttered, standing and
running in the hooligan's direction. She then almost crashed
into another stall thanks to one of the hooligan's booby traps,
and she nearly fell over, but kept running through the crowd,
amber bangs waving in her face as she yelled an apology to the
stall owner whose stall she nearly crashed into.
She felt embarrassed as heck at herself running like an idiot
since the troublemakers took her weapons again, but she knew
that this time, she'd somehow get all that stuff back, even if
she made a fool of herself. Stupid kids...why can't they rob
somebody else, and not me?! They always seem to rob me...it's
like I'm a hooligan magnet! she thought to herself.

As the 'hooligans' tried to make there escape, a lynx stepped
into their path and abruptly stopped the one with Lori's bag.
His blue eyes glared at the bandit angrily, his free hand
holding a carbon knife. "Give. It. Back." A sort of red glow
surrounded him as he stood there, not budging an inch; Ajax,
stepping in to do what he felt was right, and punish the thieves
if necessary. "You've got five seconds."

Who's this...? Why is he helping me? thought the amber hedgehog
as she stopped running, not too far from the bandit leader and
the unfamiliar lynx as she bit her lip. Her fists clenched as
she growled, "I suggest you surrender my stuff. Now. Or else."
Then shock pulled through the amber hedgehog as one of the other
bandits knocked her bag out of the leader's hands, with the bag
landing at the lynx's feet, and they ran off without a word.
"Those mini-cowards," she commented loudly to the bandits as
they ran, and one of them stopped and stuck their tongue out at
       her and the lynx.

As the thieves left, the glowing around Ajax began to dissipate.
He sheathed his blade, picking the bag up and holding it out to
Lori. "Your bag, ma'am." He finally smiled as he held it for
her; only now would she be able to notice the bead braid wrapped
around his shoulder; brown yarn with beads of varying tints and
shades of blue. Regardless of this, he did not recognize her; he
had simply stepped in to help someone in need.

"Oh... um, thank you," Lori said slowly, turning to the lynx and
then she saw the braid as she started to go for her bag. "Oh!
You must be a friend of Natasha! I recognize the braid, she is
quite good at that. My name is Lori, by the way," she said, a
smile of her own appearing as she took the bag from the lynx
       politely.
Could this be who I think it is? The one Natasha mentioned after
she finished her braid at my house? But...she didn't describe
him...so I don't know if it's 'Ajax' or not... she thought,
appearing to be zoning out as her thoughts went back to her and
Natasha's meeting. She just stood there with her bag, her indigo
eyes appearing to look blanker than paper. She didn't move an
inch, still 'zoned out' for at least five minutes.

"Lori, huh? So you're the girl Tasha was talking about; pleasure
to meet you. Name's Ajax; technically Jaximet, but most people
don't call me by that name." He crossed his arms, but remained
smiling and loosened his stance. "Yeah, she said you were the
nice one that taught her how to make these; bead braiding, was
it?" He looked to the braid on his shoulder and fiddled with it
for a short moment, although he was quick to notice her blank
expression. "Um... Are you... Okay?.." He had not really seen
people zone out like that, let alone so quickly, so it actually
concerned him slightly. It seemed odd, out of place; maybe she
was remembering things? Maybe he was just perceiving time as
slow. "Do you... Need to sit down or something?.."

"I-I'm fine!" Lori stammered, snapping out of her...whatever it
was. "I-I was just trying to remember if Tasha described you or
not," she said nervously to Ajax. Biting her lip again, she put
her bag on her shoulder now, and said in answer to Ajax's
question, "Yes, bead braiding. I taught her how to do that, and
she picked it up so quickly, though! After she was done, I
believe she mentioned you, at least in context of bead theme and
       such. You know, color of it?" The amber hedgehog then yawned;
she'd still hadn't gotten enough sleep yet, and it was only
midafternoon here, and she'd slept well the past few nights, but
       it still didn't help.
"Sorry I zoned out for so long. Even though I am sleeping better
lately, it still doesn't help for the fact that I have to travel
to certain areas at night. It took me some time off last night
to get here..." she said, trailing off since she was rambling
       again.
She then had another thought- If Ajax is here...then Natasha
       should be too.

Ajax chuckled slightly; "Yeah, I know that feeling; sounds like
a case of insomnia, but who knows, could just be your body
telling you to sleep more. As for the braids..." He trailed off
for a moment, closing his eyes and smiling a big goofy grin.
"She has the one I assume she made with you hanging above the
bed, and kept talking about how sweet it would be to just have
two long ones in our colors draped over the bed." By the smile
on his face, it was clear that she had at least started doing
that; the braid on his shoulder was proof. "We stopped by to see
about buying a few things; don't tell her, by I'm trying to see
if I can buy some chocolates as a surprise, okay?"

Another smile came on her face, and she pointed at a chocolates
vendor. Winking at him, she said in a quiet tone, "I won't tell
her. But where is she? I assumed you were here because she is
here, Ajax." She then sighed, noting in her mind what Ajax had
said about her not sleeping well.
But I didn't expect to see her or Ajax today...guess fate wanted
that, she thought, her mind now converting to matters of lunch.
"Hey, Ajax, I'm gonna get some lunch. Do you want anything? I'll
get it if you want," she said to Ajax, turning to walk to the
       food area.

"No thanks, I'm not that hungry myself; Tasha's over there
though, I'm sure she'd love to chat and eat with you." He smiled
as he said that last bit; of course she would love to eat with
her, that's half of what she did every day it seemed. "I'll meet
up with you in a second though, don't worry." His ear twitched
and he headed off to one of the vendors who was selling fruit.
