       The first time I read this book I devoured it.
       The second time is proving to be pretty much the same.
       This quote, though, caught my attention --
       "I mention this because it seems to me transformations just that
       abrupt do occur in this life, and they occur unsought and
       unawaited, and they beggar your hopes and your deserving."
       It reminded me of words from Leif Enger's novel _So Brave,
       Young, and Handsome_
       "You are also different," she said.
       I didn't try to explain that.
       You can't explain grace, anyway,
       especially when it arrives almost despite yourself.
       I didn't even ask for it,
       yet somehow it breached and began to work.
       I suppose grace was pouring over Glendon,
       who had sought it so hard,
       and some had spilled down on me.
