molecular
weight polyethylene. It is made from polyolefin. Polyolefins are
synthetic polymers comprising olefinic monomers. A polyolefin is
a type of polymer with the general formula (CH2CHR)n where R is
an alkyl group. They are usually derived from a small set of
simple olefins

Generally speaking, ropes made from HMPE are sensitive to
long-term loads, meaning that lines made with the material
elongate proportionally over time. This is known as creep – a
process that will ultimately limit the lifespan of a line.
