       Serj's voice
By: yevgenylvov Date: March 30, 2010, 3:59 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I can't understand why no one ever asked serj in interview what
       happened to his voice?
The voice he had in SOAD's first three albums is obviosly
diffrent from the one he had in mezmerize, hypnotize, elect the
dead or even before, you can hear that his voice was allready
diffrent even at the reading festival 2003.
His voice become softer and somehow streachy(if it's a word).
So my question is what happenrd to his voice?
he had a nose surgery or vocal cords surgery?
the voice changed because all of his screaming?
it's make me crazy when peaople (that call themselves fans)
don't notice this, they like "what??? he have the same voice!!
       what you talking about? "
so for these people, try to hear two diffrent version of deer
       dance for example.
listen to the version that they played in BDO 2002 or 2001 and
to the one they played at BDO 2005 or KROQ 2005
       (sorry for my grammar mistakes)

i think that serj wore his voice out from all the screaming.
that and he's also a smoker, so i can't imagine that would be
       too good for his voice.
and by the way...welcome to system of a down fans

I'm not a hardcore fan by any means, but I could still certainly
tell the difference (maybe because I do a lot of singing
myself)... And Shoe seems to have it, that kind of singing will
wreck a voice relatively quick, and as a tenor, I can say that
frequent smoking can wreck anyone who sings in the upper
       registers (Like Serj)

I recall seeing it in an interview I can't find now that he used
to, but did quit... Around 3 years ago now? Somewhere around
       there

I don't think that smoking would ever change anyones vioce. I
think is was all the screaming he did. His voice became
deeper.[sub]I wake up every morning wondering what is the piont
of life... Then i just turn the tv on.[/sub]

smoking actually can deepen your voice.
my dad is a prime example of that.

Yeah, smoking's fine for deep voices (Deepest bass I've ever
known was an avid cigar smoker), but in higher ranges it takes a
much more delicate vocal system :P

his voice didn't become deeper...it's become strechy like a
gum....when he tries singing a very high note - it's sounds like
       some cat
