       San Luis Valley-United Shooting Association

       Proposal #2
Originally it was thought that we would have enough support
through the gun clubs to create and initiate the SLV-USA, the
concept was good but the Clubs are dealing with their own tasks
and have very little time outside club business to have a lot of
interest in putting the SLV-USA together. So I personally
thought why not hand it over to the people that do the hard work
and have enough interest to show up to shoots and help the
Valley's firearms training, education, fund-raising, hunting and
local competitions. We as individuals have a lot of freedom to
approach businesses and other private individuals for
involvement and support. Acting as one large group will get the
attention of the area's people that we are serious about getting
people involved in shooting sports and introducing new people to
       the shooting sports.
There was a suggestion to make this the San Luis Valley-United
Sportsman Association, but that would involved a much wider
variety of organizations such as, DOW, RMEF, NWTF, DU, Trout
Unlimited, COA and any other organization in the sporting and
shooting fields. It could happen but would involve a much larger
involvement of organization and also any funds raised would have
to be split up among these organizations. I as one person with a
basic concept would like to keep it basic and work on shooting
sports. But once the SLV-USA is formed that is no longer just a
       single opinion.
We need this organization in the Valley for two main reasons.
       1. Some Clubs, events and people are not getting the advertising
or exposure to the shooting opportunities here in the Valley.
Introducing new members is the KEY to shooting sports in the San
Luis Valley to thrive and keep our heritage in the future.
       2. We need fund-raising to keep and maintain gun clubs and also
sponsor free events open to the public where new shooters and
members are introduced to the opportunities the San Luis Valley
       has to offer.
Fund-raising is going to be a huge part of our involvement to
the area shooting sports. In fairness to the only other
organization raising funds for shooting sports (Friends of the
NRA) in the Valley we would agree to host our banquet at least
three months before or after their banquet. Donations, sponsors,
and honored businesses will be a huge part of our fund-raising.
Getting a raffle license will also be crucial to raising money
for the Association. Tons of ideas are just waiting to be
introduced to our group for fund-raising. Even sponsored
       shooting events for fund-raising.
Along with board members and officers there is committees to
offer plenty of positions and opportunities to have involvement
in the shooting sports of the San Luis Valley. There's no reason
once we put this together we can't be the most organized and
strongest shooting group in Colorado. We need your help and
       assistance to make this happen.
As you read this remember I'm only one person one thought
concept. I have no desires for public recognition or trying to
promote myself. I have been involved in many organizations
throughout the San Luis Valley for the good of the community and
on national levels. I'm here to say we can help ourselves do
something great in the community shooting sports we all love so
       much.
