New member...HighCountry

Well my name is Dave Pote, but I guess my pen name is now
HighCountry. I picked that user name because I am in the
process of launching High Country Firearms Training, LLC. My
intent is to eventually teach NRA basic rifle and pistol safety
and marksmanship to anyone new to firearm ownership. My classes
will promote safe and good habits for new shooters.
I am also an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, which means I can
mint new NRA Range Safety Officers...first class is January 26th
at Valley Gun Service.
My hobbies are reloading rifle and pistol ammunition, casting
bullets, shooting, camping, and flying radio controlled
aircraft.
A little history about me...former US Marine (1965-69) with one
tour in South Vietnam. In 1987 I retired from the US Air Force
as a Senior Master Sergeant (E8) working in emergency
management. Then began a career in hazardous waste management,
in-door air quality assessments/remidiation, real estate
environmental site assessments/remidiation (Baylor University,
Waco, TX), and public health inspections (State of Arizona),
retiring in 2005.
Now my outside interests are helping with Rio Grande Sportsman
Club activities and working very part time for Homeland
Security as Program Manager for the San Luis Valley Exercise
Design Team.
