Read the rules. I've always thrown my knives by the blade. Not
saying I couldn't adjust to the handle it's not as accurate for
me. I have a set of Olsen throwing knives not even sure they
would be legal for this competition. I do have some homemade
throwing knives not sure if they are over 16". My tomahawk is
just a plain ole cabela's special would have to measure that
       also.

The Cabela's hawk is is legal. I threw a Cabela's hawk for
years. 16 inches is common for a throwing knife. My Dan D
throwing knife is 15 1/4 inches ( it is the one he used to throw
in competition) My Turner Forge knife is 12 inches and
my Iron Post knife is 13 inches long. My hawk handles are cut
to the length of my throwing knives.
A good rule of thumb is that the length of your knife and hawk
should be from the plam of your hand to the crook of your elbow.
Also your hawk and knife should be the same weight.
I threw a home made knife made out of an old truck spring for a
long time and it was one of my best throwers.
If anyone would like to get together to learn how to throw a
knife and hawk call Earl at 580-9750 or 873-1234
