       Wagon's Hold!

       The Setting:
Within, or around, a private wagon, set up in various areas in
       and around the fairgrounds
says to ALL: I sigh as I close up the covered wagon and nod to
the sailors I have standing watch. Of course there are private
guards paid by the Caravansari, but paid henchmen will only go
so far. My crew, at least, I've earned their loyalty. Partly by
being a pleasant employer. Mostly by ensuring a steady stream of
pay and women to keep them amused. There's no great secret to
managing any group of men on Gor. Whatever their caste, most Men
want the same things. Decent food and drink. The love of a good
woman now and then. And a bit of fun when the day is done. Help
them get that and they'll follow you into Hel.
Managing slaves on the other hand, particularly newly collared
barbarians, is somewhat more difficult. And the girl called jane
is that. She's been trying to starve herself but I had Trusty,
my healer, making sure she did not become dehydrated. She was
burning through her stock of supplies for that, however, keeping
the girl alive while sapping her strength. If she keeps this up,
I fear I may have to sell her to the first buyer I can find
rather than trying to turn her over to a slaver with the time
and patience to handle a difficult case. I could engage in this
battle of wills, but with Sardar Fair being my busy time - both
as a Singer and a "merchant entrepreneur" as Malora calls us.
Sighing, I glance around the caravan wagon lot and consider my
plans for the evening. I have my cittern slung across my back.
There's always the taverns and a stoop somewhere a bard can make
some quick coin before the festive folk drink it all away.
Mayhaps one of the taverns might even have room for the famous
       Captain Song to perform indoors?
Glancing around the yard, and failing to see the pale slave with
the blonde hair almost as white as her skin camped out on the
wagon, I decide to wander off seeking amusement and adventure
elsewhere. Thankfully, that's something I rarely seem to have
trouble with, although getting myself and my Mate in the same
room at any time seems to be an increasingly impossible task. Ah
well. A problem for another night.
