The Players:
High Captain Song, Frode of Kassau
A nameless market guard.
Lady Visenya of The Physicians/the slave called rhaenyra
Rokk of the Brewers of Talmont
Frode:
-- Is conducting Caste/Clan work at a stall within the Market --
The day is fast becoming night and, with the serious business of
commerce done, it has become time for Captain Song to once again
become Frode the Skald again. The captain's coat and hat are
hung up in his inn room, as is the keen rapier his Mate got him
as a gift. He is not unprotected, however, having four balanced
throwing knives hidden upon himself just in case, in addition to
the obvious dagger on his belt. And in a pinch the ash-wood
cittern in his hands can act as a club or a shield. But such
thought of violence are far from his mind at present. Instead,
he is celebrating life and freedom, as a Singer should. He is
also earning enough copper tarsk bits in thrown coins that he
may have serious problems holding his belt up if he doesn't go
change some of that to silver at the moneychanger's before
sunset.
Market Guard:
The guard sighs inwardly, though he looks sharp and attentive to
the untrained eye. It has been a dull day. Too dull. No drunks
to accost. No slaves to harass. And no Free Women showing a bit
more skin than is acceptable begging to be stripped and caged.
Still, perhaps some Lady will get drunk and do something to put
herself on the slave block. He can dream.
Frode:
With that one last song finished, I excuse myself and gather up
the copper coins in the cap at my feet, which unrolls into a
make-shift bag easily enough. A quick three ehn stroll is all it
takes to make it to the money change and copper is traded for
silver. I keep a few loose coppers, however, to fill the cap
once I return to my corner and start the process anew. It will
be an ahn or two before the crowd in the tavern and brothel
district picks up as the marketplace dies down. Time enough for
a few more subtly ribald songs to tease the crowd.
There was a young sailor
Who looked through the glass,
And spied a fair mermaid
With scales on her… island
Where seagulls
Fly over their nests
She combed the long hair
That hung over her… shoulders
This caused her
To tickle and itch.
The sailor cried out
"There's a beautiful… mermaid,
A-sitting out
There on the rocks!”
The crew came around
A-grabbing their… glasses
Rokk:
-- Is walking down one of the many streets adjacent to the
Market --
Noting a resounding tune being rendered in close proximity…
Finding it having lots of rhythm and no blues.
Frode:
I watch the crowd and spy a familiar face approaching and flash
a grin at the brewer. I'll have to check with him regarding his
wares later, I think, as I continue the tune.
And the sailors all crowded
Four deep to the rail,
All eager to share
In this fine piece of… news.
Which the captain soon
Heard from the watch.
He tied down the wheel
And he reached for his… crackers
And cheese which
He kept near the door.
In case he might someday
Encounter a… mermaid.
He knew he must
Use all his wits
Crying "Throw out a line.
We'll lasso her… flippers."
Visenya:
-- Is walking down one of the many streets adjacent to the
Market --
I'd spent most of my day doing what a Physician does, healing
various wounds and ailments, despite having an ulterior motive
to being here. My emerald green robes were tailored perfectly to
my form while my white blonde hair was pulled back in an
intricate braid that cascaded down my back. Those thassa blue
eyes of mine were intelligent and ever watchful as I packed my
things up quietly, a song catching my attention as the words and
music rode the breeze and practically caressed my delicate skin.
Something about it was familiar and a grin would play at the
corners of my lips as i took a moment to plot, having gathered
my herbs and such finally so i could be on the move again in the
market.
Rokk:
That was Magnificent tune… Reminiscent of old days when we used
to play music all night. . almost in response to the tune in
the distance I got out my own string box and began to play… Add
tuna handwritten long ago and still had memorized
Tarnsman
Had to pack it up and move along
Find another place and another song
Winging through the sky atop that bird
Yes you know she's here
That's what I heard
Somewhere below across the plains
She sings beneath the morning rains
She thinks about us being together
Next time it'll be Forever
Mr. Tarnsman please come Home Home to Baby
Cause she really loves you and I don't mean maybe
She gave her heart to you
Mr. Tarnsman don't you love her too
Mr. Tarnsman please come Home Home to Baby
Frode:
A shame I play a cittern and not a string box or we might well
have a musican's duel. As it is, I keep my song going even as I
listen to the unexpected accompaniment in the distance.
Oh, yes once we’ve caught her
We will certainly find
If mermaids are better
Before or be- brave
My good fellows."
The captain then said.
"With fortune we'll break
Through her mermaiden head-
ing to starboard
They tacked with dispatch.
And lassoed that fair mermaid
Just under her… elbows
Rokk:
There was more ..there was more….🌘🌔🌖
moons bloomed overhead coaxing me to recall the second verse of
the song….
Up ahead, just another nameless city
Where she goes to work looking oh so pretty
Walls of dirt, grime and grit,
Barely even the time to sit
She'll think of the One she loves
Soaring through the skies above
Then in the night she cries
As she gazes to the skies
Mr. Tarnsman please come Home Home to Baby
Cause she really loves you and I don't mean maybe
She gave her heart to you
Mr. Tarnsman don't you love her too
Mr. Tarnsman please come Home Home to Baby
Yes the man was a poet … A virtuoso! An artiste’ of exceptional
talent!! .. The notes from his instrument carried clear and
echoed throughout the night… filling the market with an
unexpected serenade. He was rendering a tune about a creature
known as a mermaid… Which I was wondering about the teeth of
such a creature… such an odd thing to consider if one should
happen upon such an entity!
Visenya:
I would eventually find my way to the source of the music,
bundled up in my emerald colored robes as a respectable
Physician should be. My blue eyes would sparkle in realization
as I had finally found You, though I wouldn't make a sound or
move just yet. I wanted to hear the rest of Your song. Tucking a
stray lock of white blonde hair behind my ear, I would take a
breath and make myself known finally, waiting for the end of the
song before I made another move just yet.
Frode:
Spying the respectable physician as she wanders past with her
herbs. Funny how the High Caste ladies always seem to pass by
when I am singing ribald songs just barely decent enough for the
market but a bit too clever for the brothel district, where they
tend to prefer more direct tunes like "The Warrior's Big
Gladius." Still, I soldier on to the end of the tune as I wonder
if I've seen that braided beauty before.
The sailors then hustled her
Down below decks,
And each took a turn
At her feminine... setting
Her free at the end
Of the farce,
She splashed in the waves,
Falling flat on her… after
Each of the men
Noticed some scabs,
Soon they all broke out with the pox
And the… scratching
With fury and,
Cursing with spleen,
This song’s not exciting
But it's certainly clean.
Rokk:
Across the clearing over on in the distance
I land the bird and feel his resistance
Cause he wants to travel on
Fly all night til the break of dawn
You know he thinks he's got no choice
He hears her sad sweet lonely voice
He lifts his wings up to the skies
Then implores me with his eyes
Mr. Tarnsman please come Home Home to Baby
Cause she really loves you and I don't mean maybe
She gave her heart to you
Mr. Tarnsman don't you love her too
Mr. Tarnsman please come home to baby
No that tune was completed and once again I looked up to my
companions in the sky those three moons and savor their company
as the night Grew chiliy🌔🌝🌘
A degree of silence or something closely resembling it now
dominated the market in a savor that in the aroma of the garden
and the multitude of flora that was there.
Visenya:
I bit my lip gently as I listened to the conclusion, having
always enjoyed the sound of Your voice when You were in the mood
to entertain with a song. I took in a deep breath even though I
was confident at the moment, delicate fingers playing at the
fastenings of my robes...simply teasing. At the end of Your
song, i would whimper slightly and couldn't contain Myself any
longer as I swiftly broke free of the crowd and made my way
before You. I had searched far and wide for the Skald I had the
pleasure of knowing before and it seemed I'd finally found Him.
You'd never left my mind for even a second and though I stood
before You as a Free Woman, I would soon pull those emerald
robes from my delicious little form, tossing my clothes to the
side. Dropping to my knees, I would dare to glance up at You for
a moment as those alabaster thighs would spread open slowly, my
naked form on display for Your view. You might recognize
her...You might not... but she was still here to submit to You
just the same. My words would soon breathlessly leave my lips as
I spoke, begging for You to take me. "I've searched far and wide
for You... I've wanted to be Yours for such a long time
Master... please... please accept my submission to You and
collar me. I've missed You so very much."
Frode:
There have been tales and legends of Singers whose songs could
inspire respectable Ladies to give up their freedom. I'd often
joked that such things must be impossible, for they had never
happened to me and surely I, being a legendary Skald and Singer,
would have such a thing happen if it were possible.
Live long enough and you'll become a story. And perhaps a
legend, if you are lucky.
It takes me a moment, but I do recognize the physician, despite
her near-white hair being bound in a controlled braid. When last
I saw her her hair was going as wild as she was.. She was as
unclad as she is now, however. And it had been my intention to
collar her before she disappeared. Seemingly forever.
The name comes to my lips in an instance. "Aye, rhaneyra, if
that is what you are still called. I accept your submission. And
offer you my collar."
Like most traveling Free Men, I have a simple leather collar
with my name upon it for just such occasions. One never knows
when might need it. I hold the simple circlet of black leather
before your face, allowing you to inspect it before I lock it
about your neck. Not that I need your approval, but it is
customary to allow a potential slave one last chance to consider
the choice. Also, Free or Slave, I've yet to meet any woman who
didn't like to have time to inspect her clothing before
dressing.

rhaenyra:
I would smile brightly, glad that You remembered that i was
called rhaenyra. Those Thassa blue eyes would watch as You held
the leather collar before my pretty little face, my eyes
inspecting it as much as i could. My eyes would soon flutter
closed in happiness as the collar was locked around my slender
neck, the pride of carrying Your collar evident in the way i
soon held myself as well as my mannerisms. "Thank You
Master...and aye, i am still called rhaenyra." I would then
laugh softly and nod my pretty little head, biting on my lip as
i was beyond happy at this moment.
Frode:
I chuckle as I see your clear happiness, thinking back on that
girl I knew just a little longer than my former slave, Freya.
Aye, there is no doubt it is that bold blonde slut who scorned
clothes even as she defied all efforts to collar her. She put me
in mind of a dream I had in my youth. That I would someday
travel with two dancers, a blonde and a redhead, whom I would
call Fire and Ice. I had the fire, certainty, but the ice eluded
me. But that would be a poor name for you as there is nothing
cold about you. Although talking of names.....
"Wrong, sweet slut. You are what I decide you will be called." I
say firmly before smiling. "But for now, rhaenyra will do. Until
I think of something different."
