occasion?" I throw a glance to Malora but I think I already know
what her answer will be. "I think that might be arranged. We
don't deal with gold and gems as a rule, but we have acted as
couriers on certain... rare items on occasion."

lightly at this, though it might be a bit profitable to have a
Jeweler in one's pocket, so to speak. I glanced at my Captain,
and knew full well He could damn near see the gears in my mind
turning. "So You want us to safely transport Your gold and gems
in exchange for the occasional trinket? Did I get that right?"
Hazel orbs sparkled, though with what You couldn't clearly tell.
We were Pirates, and while transporting goods was something we
could certainly do, the 'safely' bit might get a bit tricky.
Contracts aside, what we did and where we sailed tended to levy
certain heavy fees..'taxes' as it were, and those were to be
paid upfront.

this carefully, absently waving over a random slave to bring me
some hot tea. Blackwine at this time of day tended to keep me up
all night. "Receipts?" I almost laughed out loud. Our types
didn't exactly keep a paper trail. "I'm afraid that receipts
aren't often offered for such dealings, Lady. You would simply
have to trust that we don't take more than necessary." And I
left it at that.

need the competition in keeping my Mate up all night, thank you
very much! I nod at her words regarding the receipts. "Arians do
love their paperwork, mine." I say with a smile. "We've been in
the North too long, settling our accounts depending on our good
name as currency." There's a lot of irony in that statement but
it is broadly accurate. As they say, the Pirates of Gor are the
most honest of Castes, if they can be called a Caste and we have
nothing but our names in the end, if that.
"I think, perhaps, we might consider writing up receipts this
time, if it gets us the Lady's favor." It occurs to me that we
do have a slave in our employ who was also a Merchant and who
might be able to contrive some plausible paperwork. Of course it
also occurs to me that the whole reason Eris is a slave now is
because she got greedy and got caught.

catching what She was throwing at Me..."I understand Lady and I
will trust...." then hearing Frode speaking about perhaps giving
Me receipts...."I would very much appreciate it..." hoping
perhaps the Woman agrees to all of it....

Captain and give a subtle nod. Paperwork was something I was
good at, though receipts were hardly something that one
encountered in our line of work. But if it was something You
wanted, then of course it could be done. "Eris can verify the
gems and metals, quite easily, I believe. This will give her
something to work on." I returned my gaze to the Lady. "Very
well, then, I could find a way to get it done. We can draw up
some paperwork to sign, and then we'd be able to transport as
needed, within reason." I couldn't very well become the Lady's
courier at Her beck and call, but we could certainly transport
now and then. Perhaps as time went on, we could increase the
number of transports.

as I see she takes my meaning, though it did seem I stepped on
her plan to avoid the paperwork altogether. I'd prefer that, of
course, but it will give Eris something to do and it might be
worth the extra effort if this partnership proves as profitable
as I expect. If nothing else, having an in with the Merchants of
Ar could be useful. Most of my contacts are in the North and
those places where the Skald of Kassau is well known. Yours are
more focused on the costal cities. And it never hurts to have
more contracts... or people who owe you favors.

sip of my tea, then nodded. "Sounds like a plan to me, then.
Once we have the earrings, I'll provide the paperwork and we can
sign. And while we wait for everything to be drawn up and
created, I can continue my search for a good slave." Frode had
found two while I still needed a slave of my own for all of my
work that I preferred to hand off.
