The Death of Lady Ydril

The Players
High Captain Song, Frode of Kassau - Scoundrel and Skald
Lady Ydril/Eris - A Thief pretending to be Slave... or is she?
NOTE: This follows the events of Waking Up As A Slave
HTML https://skullisland.createaforum.com/eris-(hcs)/waking-up-as-a-slave/.
Frode:
Scrambled vulo eggs? Black wine? Bread with honey? A fine
breakfast to be sure... for a Free Woman. When the newly
collared slave made her way to the inn's kitchen, she did find
another girl willing to feed her... a rather thin gruel that's
only blessing was that it had no taste which was preferable to
its rather watery smell. It's possible the bowl was filled with
the remnants of the water used to wash the dishes. Actually,
even that would have likely been more appetizing.
It was the first of many hard lessons I had arranged for my new
slave, apart from leaving her in the middle of the night to go
to the room I had already rented for myself and my Mate. Some
would say I am too soft, allowing a newly collared girl to fall
asleep cuddled up to me in the furs. Some would say many things
about me. But I know the trauma a forced collar can cause. I'd
seen it too many times and resolved to be a better master and a
Man, not using any more force than I had to.
Still, she was a thief. A prolific one based on how many people
I had to pay off to keep her out of the courts and off the
auction block. And that did require some degree of punishment.
The courts might think her being sentenced to slavery was
enough. But punishment has no meaning if it cannot bring about
redemption or repentance. And whatever else may be said about
me, I am not an unjust man.
So I let the newly collared slave I named Eris go to sleep in my
arms. I left her to her own devices that morning, for I had
other things to arrange - chief among them being my other new
slave, whom I had kept in the stables. She was a barbarian girl
named Ranaa but she was acclimated to her new life. Eris, I
knew, needed more seasoning. For that reason I decided not to
tend to both girls together. Marvelous as the sight might be of
the infamous Captain Song parading with a coffle of two girls, I
know enough of the feminine mine to know that every woman, Free
or Slave, wants to feel special. Better to handle them both
separately, as I did with the last girl I collared and branded.
It is nearly midday by the time I return to the inn to find Eris
kneeling in the café, shadowing one of the more experienced
girls waiting tables, for such is expected of all the slaves who
beg for meals here. Another lesson learned.
Eris:
The morning had been....interesting. Breakfast had been a
disappointment, no other way to put it. Once I had found my way
to the kitchen I had hoped to be able to....find...some food,
perhaps collect it on a tray and take it back to the room that
the Captain - my Master - had rented, where I might eat at
leisure while awaiting his return. Any costs would of course be
charged to the room I had presumed. I would even have been more
than happy to forsake fried vulo eggs and tarsk strips for one
of the simply yummy looking omelets that I had seen another girl
preparing. Although she would have had to cook it for me, my own
skills in the kitchen being somewhat limited. But she had had
other things on her mind, or at least so it had seemed, and
instead I had been left with an Inn girl who had scarce been
able to keep the scowl from her face as she had handed me a bowl
of gruel.
Gruel! Seriously? Did she not know what the situation was?
Granted, Frode had put a collar around my throat, told me that I
was now Eris. But had he not said that such things were for
appearance's sake? Probably no, he hadn't said that, not in so
many words, but he had said that those whose debts were paid
were presumed to be enslaved. Or something like that anyway.
Presumed. Presumed was not the same as are. So we would presume
that I was enslaved. Until I wasn't. But slave
gruel....bleh....I had sorely wished to tell the slut where she
could put her slave gruel...but I was starving. And so I had
smiled, asked for a spoon. And she had smiled back and told me
to eat with my hands. She sleen that she was! Perhaps she had
seen my eyes dart from side to side as they looked for a spoon,
for she had then showed me the spoon that was held in her right
hand. A large spoon. And the way that she slapped it in her palm
made her intention quite clear. And so I had stood, stark naked,
held the bowl in both hands and raised it to my lips, that i
might drink / slurp at the contents until it was all gone, a
request for some salt ignored.
And then the she sleen had told me to wash my own bowl!!!!!!!
I couldn't wash it quickly enough, get out of the kitchen,
return to the sanctity of our room to await Frode's return. But
NO! The girl with the wooden spoon had then told me that slaves
did not laze around all day, had practically dragged me into the
seating area of the Inn - a place I was not unfamiliar with -
and told me to watch, learn, and try not to get myself whipped
or hamstrung. And so there I was, on my knees, naked, my thighs
parted wide, being instructed on the finer details of paga by an
Inn girl when I see you enter, think I may be rescued from these
she sleen that seem determined to make my morning a misery.
Frode:
In point of fact, I had instructed the she-sleen in question to
make sure you were not allowed to laze away the day in the furs
if you proved bold enough to leave the room in the first place.
I'm pleased to find that you were. I had bought you a slave's
kirtle yesterday as the market was closing, but did not allow
you to wear it back to the inn. I had expected you to tear the
room apart looking for it. Again, I am pleased you did not.
Maybe it was hunger pushing you to boldness? Either way, the
thought of concealing yourself or trying to remove the collar or
hiding did not occur to you,.
I smile warmly as I see you kneeling in nadu, every inch of your
bare skin revealed to the world. I nod to the other girl in
mid-lecture as she drops to her knees and spreads her thighs
wide, though her body is somewhat concealed by a tight blue
kirtle.
"Greetings, Jarl" She says noting that I'm dressed in the garb
of a Northman. I nod as my eyes move over her and then you. "I
trust she wasn't too much trouble?" The girl shakes her head,
though her eyes tell another story. "No trouble. She is quick to
learn, but it is clear she's never worked a kitchen before." I
nod. "She is no waitress, that is for sure. But I am sure she
found the morning instructive." I end the conversation there as
I retrieve the chain leash from my coat pocket and fix it to the
ring under your chin. "You may stand, Eris." I say firmly.
Eris:
I knelt. Silent. And yes, that was an effort of sorts, to not
say a word as you and the she sleen discussed me as if I wasn't
present. Perhaps I should have stayed in the room. And starved
to death. I had actually thought that you might have been out
fetching breakfast for both of us. A tasty breakfast, not some
watery gruel. You had probably eaten well. As for my
clothing....or lack thereof....well, that was a thing....I knew
that you had bought the kirtle....but hadn't looked for it, had
instead left the room naked. Why had I done that? Probably best
you didn't ask as I'm not sure I could have formed answer, at
least not a rational one. But part of me was....no, not
excited...that would have been scandalous....but I had been
naked in the cage...led through the market naked...and on all
fours....so perhaps I had thought best not to risk incurring
your wrath, yes, that was it, I wasn't naked because I found it
even mildly exciting to be naked in public, I was scared of the
consequences of going against your will. If you wanted me in the
kirtle you would have told me to put it on yesterday. That was
it.
And now your conversation with the slave - the other slave - was
over, and the leash was about my collar again.
"Aye....Master...." The pause was brief as I rose to my feet, a
toss of my dark mane as I stood naked before you, the reason for
pause that the other girl had thrown me, made me wonder what to
call you, Master of Jarl.
Presumably we were now going back upstairs.
Frode:
Your presumption, like so many you have made this morning, is
wrong.
I pull on the leash guiding you toward the exit. We are heading
outside. Where, you do not know. And I do not say. A Master need
not explain anything to a slave if they do not wish to.
I do throw a glance behind myself as we walk. Watching the way
you walk and how you carry yourself. Do you look down? Is your
head held high? Are you flaunting your bare body now that you
are free to show it off? What is your natural reaction when you
are given no direction?
My eyes move forward quickly enough. We are heading down one of
the side streets away from the main market of the Caravanserai
when I finally speak.
"We are going to see a Physician, first. To have you looked
over."
Eris:
The tug on leash leaves me with no option but to follow where
you lead, it immediately becoming apparent that we are not going
upstairs, rather emerge out into the noon light as Tor tu Gor
reaches its zenith high above, my eyes blinking once or twice as
they become accustomed to the sunlight, body alert to other
sensations, the feel of fresh air against naked flesh, the small
stones that dig into the soles of my feet as I hurry to keep up
with you.
When you do cast your eyes backwards you might note that my head
was up, my arms by my sides, my long legs carrying me along
behind you, a subtle arch to back, my shoulders pressed together
somewhat, breathing perhaps a little faster than might be deemed
normal as I walked naked behind you. I mean, it was not an
uncommon sight on Gor was it, to see a naked woman heel a Man,
and at least today you did allow me to walk rather than crawl,
and so I walked, my movements lacking any formal training, but I
was a woman and I was naked so my body was finding its own way
to respond to that as you led me through streets, the familiar
becoming unfamiliar as you looked back at me, spoke. "Honestly,
that's not necessary. Why don't we go see if my coin cache is
still where I left it? Then I can pay you some of what is owed
and we can discuss matters further."
Frode:
I chuckle, having wondering if that gambit would come into play.
I had suggested last night, when you were told that your stand
and goods had been sold as part of the effort to cover your
debts, that you cache had probably disappeared as well, guessing
it might be hidden in a bolthole of some kind or behind a false
panel. Were I taking control of the property of a convicted
thief, I would certainly search it for such things. But then
again, I'm the suspicious sort. Given my many occupations, I
can't afford not to be.
I smile a bit, not turning my head around, thinking I judged
this slave well. Bold, yes. That's the word for it. She is bold.
"I suppose we might do that first, but I do think it is
necessary. You have been through a lot, after all. And it would
be my treat."
Eris:
"Thank you." My voice carries to your back as I follow along
behind you. There was an element of risk attached to my
suggestion, for it was of course possible that my cache had been
found, as you had surmised. And it was equally possible that
even if it still existed you might simply take it for yourself
if and when I revealed its location to you, there being little
that I could do to stop you. But trust had to start somewhere.
And you did have the upper hand...
"It's not with my stand. There's a perfumer's shop. Pluribus of
Turia. Little bald man. He lets me keep things at his shop. For
a small fee." I had not called you Master since we had departed
the Inn, this now feeling to me more like co conspirators
plotting together than anything else. Although one of those
conspirators did then utter a muttered curse as she stepped on a
particularly sharp stone.
Frode:
I nod. "I know of him."
Word has begun to spread around the market about your fate as
soon as you were stripped and caged, so I can't help but wonder
if Pluribus of Turia might have been wise enough to depart on
the first caravan to leave town before people started asking
questions about the business associates of the former Lady
Ydril.
I adjust course and start heading for the marketplace proper,
again, taking quick glances to see if you still walk with your
head held high and your body proudly displayed - no clutching
your thighs together or covering your breasts. Just a confident
woman. Or a confidence woman?
Eris:
I follow behind you, unfamiliar streets one again becoming
familiar, although as we came closet to the market itself I
noticed that several glances were thrown my away, more than one
by those whose faces I recognized - or, in the case of the Free
Women that looked upon me, whose robes and general shapes and
demeanors I recognized. Doubtless, they too, recognized me, as I
followed behind you, never allowing the leash to grow taut as I
walked after you, my hands by my sides, my head remaining up,
the sway of hips almost a subconscious thing, though I was
mindful to avoid making eye contact with anyone, especially the
Women, whose animosity I could almost sense, their gaze
following me like bolts from a crossbow as I walked behind you.
Frode:
It must be a sight to behold! The fearsome Northern captain and
his leashed slave (or is she a captive? Another point to
discuss.) entering a perfume shop. Small wonder there are so
many Free Women gathered about here. Small wonder they look at
you with disapproval. But is it because they recognize you and
heard of your crimes? Or is it just the general disdain all Free
Women have for slaves? Or is it jealousy that you look so
content as you say your hips and bare your breasts and don't
give a damn who sees you?"
The bald man is quick to step forward, but the confusion on his
face is apparent as he looks at me. I'm not his usual sort of
customer. Even the me who come in here seeking scent for their
mates or their mothers don't look like they are fresh from the
docks. "Tal, merchant. It is my understanding that you were
holding on to some items belonging to the Lady Ydril? I have
taken over her debts, so her property is now mine." Again, I
speak of you as if you were not there. And Pluribus of Turia,
for his part, seems to be actively avoiding trying to look at
you. Your face or your bare body.
Eris:
And then we are within the shop, the dirt under my feet giving
way to cool tiles, a gaggle of Free Women within, at least two
of which I am fairly sure I know, the Lady Teltisia and the Lady
Phoebe, although both look at me with an air of utter disgust
before they turn their eyes away. It likely behooves me not to
draw undue attention here, particularly not given the presence
of Free Women of Gor, whose dislike of kajirae is well known, so
while Pluribus steps forward I swiftly find my knees, as an
obedient slave should in such circumstances, those knees pressed
tight together lest some haughty Woman take offense, my hands on
my knees, eyes lowered, not making eye contact with the shop
Owner although I am sure he must recognize me as I will him to
get the transaction over and done with so we can be on our way
before any of these Free Women create a scene.
"The Lady Ydril....the Lady Ydril....I think you must be
mistaken good Sir." I recognize Pluribus' voice, the accent of
Turia as he addresses you. "My business is in the sale of
scents, I do not....hold on to items....no, there must be a mix
up Sir, but perhaps I could interest you in some scents while
you are here? Perfumes from Ar, from Tyros, from Cos, for your
Companion perhaps? Or slave perfumes suitable for the slut at
your feet?"
Frode:
Ah. Predictable. He might not have had the good sense to split
town, but he's certainly not about to admit to anything with two
Fine Ladies in earshot. And he goes for a sale to boot! It's
shocking! It's brazen! It's the sort of thing a certain Lady
Ydril might have pulled, from what I have heard.
Sometimes, Karma is swift in coming.
I merely nod to the perfumer, also ignoring you beyond admiring
the grace of your kneel and your foresight in adopting a Tower
pose instead of Nadu. I know that most women in the civilized
parts of Gor are taught the slave positions - nominally to
instruct their own slaves but too so they know what to do should
they ever be enslaved. Yet your familiarity with the protocol
and the speed with which you've adapted makes me think.
"Perhaps I am mistaken," I say. "And yes, since I am here.
Perhaps you might suggest something for the slut at my feet.
Something appropriate to her? I must admit for all my travels
and business, I am at something of a loss when it comes to such
things. I shall trust your expertise then, oh honest merchant.
What would you give this dark-haired harlot?" I lay it on a bit
thick, thinking either I might guilt this merchant into treating
fairly (ha!) or, more likely, drive home your new status once
again.

Eris:
The sleen!!!!!! The treacherous sleen!!!!! Doubtless the rogue
had heard of my arrest and subsequent events, been told that I
had been led off from the cage, naked, collared, leashed,
crawling on all fours like a beast, and had thought to himself
to inspect the things that I had left in his safe keeping, he
then having decided that he would take them for himself, for
after all, even if I was to return and claim them who would pay
heed to me in my current predicament? I had to admit it was
almost admirable, a lesson perhaps, that I should never have
trusted the bald urt!!!
I shifted, slightly, was almost incandescent with rage, wanted
to hiss at the fat merchant, curse at him, and yet I must remain
on my knees, lest any outburst lead to consequences, for i was
to all appearances a naked slave and such as I did not curse at
shop keepers, call them lying deceitful dishonest urts,
certainly when other customers were present.
And then you spoke! It was as if you were taking a knife that
had been thrust into my belly and twisting it! I should never
have told you about Pluribus, should have left that a secret,
though doubtless the outcome would have been the same.
"Why yes, noble Sir, indeed." I could almost hear the delight in
his voice. The sleen had always been the same when prospect of a
sale was put before him. "A common beast by the looks of it Sir,
though it appears to be well curved. Perhaps this scent here, a
subtle mix of talendars and dinas, such as a beast might wear in
her hair, to remind her that the perfume that she wears is slave
perfume....quite fashionable in Glorious Ar so I believe" he
giggled then "As befitting a slave."
I then heard another sound, that of Ladies laughing at the joke
being played.
Frode:
"Ah, but I am not from Glorious Ar and am indeed bound for Cos.
So perhaps it is best I leave her smelling of her own musky
scent, which I've grown rather fond of. At least, I find it
preferable to whatever stench you are trying to mask that reeks
from that pair of zads." I gesture to the two Free Women. "You
have my complements, merchant, in having trained such beasts to
answer to your call. I had always been told that it was
impossible to control carrion eaters. Good day."
I pull on the leash and guide you back to the street, offering a
smile to the two Free Women as I escort you out. I say nothing,
but I do move into an alley before stopping and turning to
regard you. I drop the stoic expression... and began to laugh
uproariously.
"Ah, forgive me. I am not laughing at you or this situation...
but the faces of those self-important bints and that ridiculous
fop."
Eris:
I keep my eyes lowered as I listen, though I wish that I could
see the looks on the faces of those two Women when your words
cut like a blade, they unable to offer any coherent reply as you
jerk on the leash, and I rise, quickly, to my bare feet, looking
over at the two Ladies as I toss my long dark mane almost
arrogantly, an arch to my back, fierce, spine bent, the ridges
under my skin like the peaks of the Sardar, standing proud under
bare skin as I follow you, every part of me the slave heeling
her Master, as we emerge back into the sunlight....and then down
into a quieter alley....where I find myself with my back to the
wall....looking at you....wondering if you are displeased at
this tune of events, for my coin should have been your
coin....and for an ihn or two I fear that you are angry....and
then you laugh.....and despite what has occurred, the theft of
my coin, I join you in laughing "He is a thief....bit those
two...." bare shoulders wrinkle into a shrug...slaves should not
speak badly of Free Goreans...but this is a pretense is it
not...."They would make pretty slaves"
Frode:
The laughter is rich and honest and if the loss of the coin
bothers me I hide it well. I take on a thoughtful look as you
speak of the two ladies, your former... colleagues... and how
they might make pretty slaves.
"Perhaps. But not so pretty a slave as you."
I smile and meet your eyes a moment waiting for you to challenge
the statement before taking the leash in hand again. "Now... to
the physician. We have other chores to tend to and I have an
appointment with the smithy we must not be late for."
Eris:
I did not look away when your eyes found mine, stood their, my
back against the rough brick as you reached for the leash. "You
said that it was not....necessary....for one who was caged with
debts to be paid to be enslaved." Or words to that effect. At
least, that was how I had heard them at the time. "I
had...presumed...that we could come to some arrangement that was
mutually agreeable." Now my words were chosen with care, thought
before I opened my mouth, for clearly I was currently at risk of
having...defaulted...on such arrangement, having promised coin
when there was none. And what was this talk of the smithy?
Frode:
I smile and take a step closer as you press back against the
wall. "I find this quite agreeable. And you do too."
And there it is. The unvarnished truth. I could stop there, but
I keep going.
"True, one who is caged with debts need not be enslaved to
settle them. But you do not have the money you promised me.
More, you kneeled before me and called me Master. You agreed to
be collared and led on a leash. You shopped for a slave's
garments. You went to an inn room with a man and slept in his
arms. You ate a slave's gruel and worked as a slave in the inn
café this morning. You have acted like a slave in every way that
matters. Legally. Ethically. Morally."
Another pause and my eyes move over your body,
"Too... your body responds like that of a slave. Even when we
stand apart, I can feel the heat from you. Even now that pale
skin is starting to turn a bit red as you feel the heat....."
And with that I lean forward and press my lips to yours, still
clutching the leash.
Eris:
I try to find words....to refute your statements....to argue
that what choice had I had? We had been....putting on a
performance...a charade, for the Magistrate....had i not knelt
then I would likely have been back in the cage, you seized,
possibly impaled....so aye...I had knelt...I had called you
Master...under the laws of Gor i head submitted....you had even
taken my name from me, replaced it with a slave
name....but....but...I looked at you....remembered last
night....your body against mine...I had expected you to put your
hands on me, to spread my legs wide, to...use me....but you had
not...
But still, this was all...circumstantial....a necessity, a
charade for the Magistrate....as you look upon
me...now...candidly....
my breathing has quickened, those bare breasts rising and
falling....we are in an alley....any could come along at any
moment...even those two frigid Free
Women....frigid....aye....they were...but....this
was....wrong....i shook my head....we were only
acting....ohhhhhhhhhh........
Your lips....find mine...I breathe in your scent....that of a
Gorean Man...as i....move....against you....my bare breasts
crushed to your chest, caught, trapped, between a Man and a
wall, both unyielding, leaving me no option but
to.....squirm....to wriggle...as that kiss steals the breath
from my lungs, my arms finding themselves wrapped around
you....clinging to you....naked, collared, leashed...mind trying
to deny the obvious....but it lwas like denying that standing in
the path of a storm one would be soaked...You were...a
force...of nature...I was a naked female...one who was
collared...one who now kissed you eagerly, hungrily. Wantonly.
Not like some frigid Free Woman.
Frode:
I let you melt against me and my hands move to grip your
shoulders and hold you up. They could roam about your body and a
part of you wishes they would. How great a part you're not sure.
But you are starting to realize what I gleaned when I first
spoke to you in the cage. What I sensed as I watched you walk...
no... strut about the street. You want this.
You need this.
The better part of an ehn passes before I break the kiss. And my
brown eyes meet your dark ones as I nod to you.
"Lady Ydril is dead. It is time for Eris to live."
Eris:
The kiss seems to last an eternity, a lifetime. In a way perhaps
it does when you finally break it and speak, for perhaps it
measured Ydril's lifetime or at least her last ehn on Gor. My
breasts are heaving when you look at me, my thighs parted, bare
flesh mottled with vulo bumps, a wetness between my thighs, my
own body betraying me to you. Aye, I had sensed it too, when I
had first looked at you through the bars of the cage, that sense
of the inevitable, something that could not be denied. In that
moment my knees trembled, and were I not against the wall I
think I might well have fallen down as I nodded my head slowly,
my dark mane brushing about my shoulders.
"I do. Want it. I think I have always wanted it." My voice is
low, words scarce more than a whisper as I look at you, teeth
chewing on lip for a moment. And then I am slithering down that
wall, until I am on my knees in the dirt, those knees spreading
wide, as wide as I can make them go....pushing up sand as ass
comes to rest on heels...my heart racing, the enormity of this
almost overwhelming me, knowing that what is about to be done
cannot be undone...but perhaps it was already done...and this
merely....reaffirms....it....removes any lingering vestiges of
doubt....as i lower my gaze to the ground, raise my hands above
my head, wrists crossed together as though bound.
"Lady Ydril is gone...is no more...in her place there is
Eris....please....Master...make me your slave....la kajira
Master..."
Frode:
I say nothing. After a display such as that, what meaning have
words? The kiss and your response to it say all that needs to be
said. I merely reach down and take the chain that dangles
between your breasts.
"Rise then, Eris. We have much to do.
The visit to the physician is a blur. You were in obvious good
health and did not require all the shots that a barbarian girl
new to Gor would require. But there were two matters that,
regrettably had to be attended to. The first was an examination
to determine if you were "white silk" or not.. The second was
your first dose of slave wine - not the cheap booze reserved for
the sluts when Masters wish them to be inebriated, but the
medicine that prevents a slave's belly from becoming swollen
with child. It tastes foul, but the doctor (a green clad free
woman wearing the two bracelets noting that she is a full doctor
who has given birth to two children of her own) assures you that
this particularly medicine only need be taken once.
With that done, you are back in the street and moving to the
part of the market where the smiths and weapon makers ply their
trade.
Eris:
The next ahn or so passed in something of a daze, i simply
leading where you followed, a docile obedient beast, one whose
head was still full of a gamut of emotion, each taking its own
moment to seize the ascendancy before being submerged with the
others as the Physician poked and prodded and inspected, my
responses to her now automatically ending with the word
'Mistress', the first time i had called any that, the
examination confirming that I was indeed white silk, for perhaps
despite my self confident manner I had never been with a Man
intimately. And then I had been given the slave wine, had almost
vomited when the foul taste had burned my stomach, could still
taste it in my mouth now as i followed you down the street
towards the place where the Smiths were to be found, a gnaw of
anxiety building in the pit of my stomach for I had surmised why
we were coming here. I was to be branded. perhaps put in a more
sturdy collar.
