[tt]Hierarchy of the Sixty Thieves[/tt]
The Unmarked – The freshly-initiated thieves, yet to prove their
worth:
•
People carrying the rank of Unmarked are yet to become official
members of the family, and as such they still lack the X-mark of
the Sixty Thieves which would bind them to the Thief's Code. The
Unmarked are the freshly-initiated thieves, yet to prove their
worth in the eyes of the Hanged. Their progress is scrutinized
closely, and they're usually set on specific tasks or to work
under the guidance of more experienced thieves to learn the
ropes. The Unmarked are allowed access to rather limited
knowledge regarding the thieves' hideouts and schemes, to ensure
they can still leave or be removed from the family without a
serious risk of compromising its security, should it turn out
that they're not a good fit.
The Marked – The proven thieves, in order of rank:
•
The Marked are the lowest official members of the family, having
received the X-mark of the Sixty Thieves somewhere on their
flesh, thus binding them to the Thief's Code. They are trusted
enough to be given access to the family's hideouts, and are
allowed to attend the weekly meetings where they have the
opportunity to partake in any on-going plots and schemes, as
well as bring forwards any jobs of their own. Their main
responsibility is to contribute to the family's general
well-being through earnings, services, or other means approved
by the Hanged. To progress from this rank, the thief typically
needs to give further proof of their worth to come across as a
loyal, hardworking, and otherwise capable individual in the eyes
of the Hanged.
•
The Red Hands are thieves who have managed to prove their skill
and loyalty to the Hanged throughout their stay in the Sixty
Thieves. They have not hesitated getting their hands dirty for
the good of the family - and are consequently so-named -, and
their overall contribution has been commendable. With the
expectations set by the Hanged being met, they are generally
seen fit to take responsibility over the other Marked in the
Hanged's absence, particularly on jobs and heists. Together with
the Marked, the Red Hands form the working backbone of the
family and are crucial for its operations. They are also the
most likely candidates for a position in the Hanged, should the
need arise.
The Hanged – The council of leaders, consisting of up to seven
different figures and roles (in no specific order):
•
The Swindler is responsible for running and managing some of the
finer forms of theft: scams. They arrange and execute
large-scale cons to make profit for the gang, and take other
like-minded members under their wing to teach and guide them in
the field of swindling. Due to the nature of their work, the
Swindler often benefits the family the most when in close
co-operation with the Trickster.
•
The Smuggler keeps track of the family's stock and budget. They
specialize in the arts of trade, both exporting and importing
goods and aiming to increase the gang's income, as well as
maintain business connections with other individuals and
organizations. The Smuggler is in charge of the gang's fences
and dealers, and typically appraises any items turned in by
other members of the family.
•
The Trickster acts as the eyes and ears of the Bandit King,
overseeing the family and gathering information to point out
potential problems, opportunities, and candidates for
promotions. They also keep an eye out on the activity of the law
enforcement and rival organisations, looking for potential ways
to improve the gang's position in relation to them, and to pave
the path towards further profits.
•
The Bruiser's job is to ensure the safety of the family. They
act as a threatening physical force, and are in charge of
administrating beatings and other punishments for the various
enemies of the family, though often their mere presence
alongside a ruthless appearance are enough to avert any hostile
intentions. The Bruiser acts as the family's muscle, and often
also serves as a personal bodyguard to the Bandit King.
•
Similarly to the Bruiser, the Enforcer acts as a threatening
force, but within the family rather than outside. The Enforcer
enforces the Thief's Code; ensuring order is kept and punishing
those who stray from it - in whatever way seen fit. Despite
their presence likely being considered somewhat unsettling by
the family, the Enforcer is the person the members should seek
out if they encounter any problems with their fellow thieves.
•
The Right Hand works most closely with the Bandit King, and is
thus second in command. When the Bandit King is unavailable, the
Right Hand acts as the leader in their stead, and is to be
trusted with any information intended for the leader. In other
situations, the Right Hand acts as the Bandit King's most
trusted advisor, and their word tends to carry more weight than
the rest of the Hanged's.
•
Thiefmaster):
The Bandit King sits at the top of the hierarchy. They use the
Hanged as their most trusted advisors, who aid them in leading
the family in the right direction to achieve its full potential.
The Bandit King is generally considered to be one of the best
qualified and highly respected members of the family of crime,
and thus has the last word when making decisions.
