       List of Narcotics
By: Tact Date: February 12, 2020, 9:06 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
What follows is a complete list of narcotics that the gang has
(or has had) in its possession and has been known to deal on the
streets of the various cities on Azeroth. Each narcotic comes
with a description of the product as well as its effects
(desired, side, withdrawal). They are all are based on direct
in-game references, with additional inspiration drawn from real
life equivalents where the game's own canon has been lacking.
More products may be added to the list over time.

       [tt]Bloodthistle[/tt]
  HTML http://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_misc_herb_16.jpg
       Description:
Bloodthistle is a plant with bright green leaves, flexible
spine, and a bright red flower - the colour of blood. It only
grows in the kingdom of Quel'thalas and may in fact be a once
common variety of thistle warped and tainted over time by
exposure to the arcane power of the Sunwell. This may also
explain why most of its medicinal and arcane properties only
have any real effect on the Sin'dorei, or why it seems to grow
close to sites or arcane power. Bloodthistle is used
recreationally, and is also included in small amounts in several
Thalassian cuisine recipes. Unmoderated and frequent use is
frowned upon by the elven society.
       Effects:
Bloodthistle is commonly used by blood elves to sate their lust
for magic, as it grants a small boost in spell power. Possible
side effects can range from mild withdrawal effects like
lethargy or temporarily diminished ability to tap into the
arcane to the more severe ones such as fatigue, sweating, heart
palpitation, joint aches, nausea and vomiting, coughing fits,
altered bowel function, insomnia, anxiety and hyperarousal,
agitation, watery eyes, appetite loss, and depression. Long-term
use and abuse likely worsen the addiction and strengthen the
       withdrawal effects.
Consumption: Bloodthistle leaves can be chewed or dried up for
       smoking.
Minimum street price: 10 silver per pouch of twenty petals

       [tt]Dream Dust[/tt]
  HTML http://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_misc_dust_05.jpg
       Description:
Dream dust originates from a natural substance acquired from
green drake whelplings in the Swamp of Sorrows. It is made from
a venom coating the whelplings' mucosae, which is dried and then
ground into a fine pale powder.
       Effects:
Effects of dream dust include warmth, relaxation, and slight
euphoria. The user's thoughts are slowed and they feel somewhat
detached from the world - generally in a positive way. It also
grants resistance to pain, and if a user falls asleep during its
effects, they've been known to experience vivid dreams.
When under the effect of dream dust, breath and heart rate
typically drop rather dramatically in short-term, which can be
dangerous. Effects of dream dust don't last for very long,
roughly three to four hours at most. Once the 'rush' of pleasure
fades away, the user may end up with drowsiness or nausea. Dry
mouth, runny nose and watery eyes are common side effects,
alongside constipation. Irritation of mucosae and skin are
possible, visible in itching and rash. Finally, the user may
experience hallucinations, but is often able to recognize them
as dream dust induced and hence, unreal.
Dream dust is known to be very addictive. Repeated use builds a
tolerance, in which case a stronger dose is required to reach
the same effect. Withdrawal effects may include restlessness,
muscle and joint aches, insomnia, diarrhoea, vomiting, cold
flashes with goose bumps and muscle cramps (most commonly in
legs). Repeated long-term use of dream dust can affect
decision-making and cognitive abilities, leading to decreased
learning, inability to regulate behaviour and exaggerated stress
       response.
Consumption: Dream dust can be snorted, smoked, or melted down
for injection. Intravenous use incurs the desired effect faster.
Minimum street price: 15 silver per dram

       [tt]Ghost Mushroom[/tt]
  HTML http://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_mushroom_08.jpg
       Description:
Ghost mushroom is a pale-coloured and partially transparent
mushroom, which emits a faint, pale glow, and grows exclusively
underground in dark and moist conditions. It grows only in a few
selected caves around Azeroth. The leading theory claims that
the mushroom originates from the Zangarmarsh region of Outland,
from which a limited number of spores were brought over during
the First War, either unintentionally or as a deliberate effort
by the orcish shamans, whose religion had turned to more
       sinister purposes.
       Effects:
Ghost mushroom is usually used for alchemy, as the mushroom
helps with creating strong ties to shadows and spirits,
assisting with rituals and casting spells. Properly prepared,
its ties to this side of magic make it a potent component in
invulnerability and invisibility mixtures. However, it can also
be used recreationally, although remains both a rare and an
       expensive method.
Effects begin within 30 minutes to 2 hours from ingestion with
hallucinations, restlessness, hyperarousal and arousal, slowing
of motor functions and possibly vomiting or inability to hold
urine or stool. Increased heartrate and blood pressure, dilated
pupils, dry and red skin are seen in some cases. Common
hallucinations include being able to see sound as colours,
seeing wispy shapes or dead spirits and hearing whispers in
unknown languages. Within 24 hours of ingestion, heartrate and
breathing slow down and user falls into a trance-like state.
During the trance, involuntary muscle movements, grinding of
teeth, vomiting or screaming are possible. The trance usually
lasts no more than two days, but prolonged comatose states have
been reported. After waking up, hallucinations may still
continue up to a week, withdrawing gradually. Long term use
leads to bad dental hygiene, skin problems, poorer
decision-making and cognitive abilities, inability to regulate
behaviour and exaggerated stress response. Ghost mushroom is not
addictive and there is no tolerance to its effects.
Consumption: Ghost mushroom is to be eaten raw or used as an
       alchemical reagent.
Minimum street price: 20 silver per mushroom

       [tt]Gnogaine[/tt]
  HTML https://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_cooking_80_powderedsugar.jpg
       Description:
Gnogaine is a fine greyish-white powder, which is purified
extract from the toxic fallout of Gnomeregan, commonly sampled
       from irradiated troggs.
       Effects:
The use of gnogaine gives an immediate rush and feelings of
euphoria, increased sense of energy and alertness, an extremely
elevated mood, a sense of well-being, and a feeling of
supremacy. In addition, libido and self-confidence are greatly
increased, and thus gnogaine has been known to be taken prior to
       stressful and/or dangerous events.
The use of gnogaine can follow with side effects such as
paranoia, dry mouth, dilated pupils, reduced appetite,
indifference to pain, anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, and
restlessness. Particularly high doses can lead to tremors and
muscle twitches, chest pains, nausea, kidney failure, seizures,
brain haemorrhage, or heart attack. In the long term, gnogaine
abuse can lead to malnutrition, apathy, chronic exhaustion,
insomnia, depression, poor dental hygiene, infertility, sexual
       dysfunction, hallucinations and impaired thinking.
Gnogaine is highly addictive, and stopping its use after long
term abuse can cause heavy and violent withdrawal effects. These
effects can include agitation, depression, fatigue, general
discomfort, muscular and cognitive slowness and vivid,
       unpleasant dreams.
Consumption: Gnogaine can be sniffed, smoked, or melted down for
injection. Intravenous use incurs the desired effect faster.
Minimum street price: 15 silver per dram

       [tt]Opium[/tt]
  HTML http://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_misc_dust.jpg
       Description:
Opium is a yellowish dried latex extracted from the seed pods of
the rain poppy plant. Rain poppy is only to be found in
Pandaria, primarily in the Jade Forest, and to a lesser extent
in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Timeless Isle. It is known
to grow near bodies of fresh water, such as lakes, rivers and
       ponds.
       Effects:
Effects of opium include warmth, relaxation, and slight
euphoria. The user's thoughts are slowed and they feel somewhat
detached from the world - generally in a positive way. It also
grants resistance to pain, and if a user falls asleep during its
effects, they've been known to experience vivid dreams.
When under the effect of opium, breath and heart rate typically
drop rather dramatically in short-term, which can be dangerous.
Effects of opium don't last for very long, roughly three to four
hours at most. Once the 'rush' of pleasure fades away, the user
may end up with drowsiness or nausea. Dry mouth, runny nose and
watery eyes are common side effects, alongside constipation.
Irritation of mucosae and skin are possible, visible in itching
and rash. Finally, the user may experience hallucinations, but
is often able to recognize them as opium induced and hence,
       unreal.
Opium is known to be very addictive. Repeated use builds a

       [tt]Snuff[/tt]
  HTML http://wow.zamimg.com/images/wow/icons/large/inv_misc_dust_02.jpg
       Description:
Dry snuff is a smokeless tobacco product made from ground up
tobacco leaves. It is most commonly used by the sailors of Booty
Bay, first raising in popularity among the Bloodsail Buccaneers.
       Effects:
Snuff serves as both a stimulant and a sedative. Some of the
effects that may be experienced after sniffing snuff include
reduced anxiety, increased alertness and concentration, improved
reaction time, and feelings of mild euphoria and relaxation.
Side effects can include increased blood pressure and heart
rate, tremors and muscle pains, decreased appetite, dizziness,
nausea, headache, and sneezing due to irritation of the nasal
cavity. In the long term, the user may suffer from loss of sense
of smell and taste, bad dental hygiene, increased risk of stroke
and various cancers, shortness of breath, heart disease, early
wrinkles, lowered fertility, impotence, osteoporosis, eye
cataracts, high blood pressure, or morphological and functional
       changes in the nasal mucosae.
As a tobacco product, snuff is known to be quite addictive, and
repeated use builds a tolerance, in which case a stronger dose
is required to reach the same effect. Withdrawal symptoms after
long term abuse can include stress, depression, cravings,
anxiety, insomnia, tremors, headaches, irritability, and
       difficulties in concentrating.
Consumption: Snuff is consumed by sniffing.
