Ereldryl

- How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
Aside from seeing the guild name pop up now and then when you're
RPing I don't think I ever got involved with the Sixty Thieves
before. For better or worse once I reached the stage with my
character that I needed to reorient myself I ended up in the
right spot at the right time to get dragged into a recent guild
event. I'll go into detail down further, speaking about
background and motivation before I stray too far here.
- What is your character's name and race?
Ereldryl in both cases. She is my main and first character on
AD, a nightborne mage.
- Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
That's an easy question that is hard to answer! It largely ties
in with the question below and anticipates elements of my
narrative. Still, here it goes: There's for one the fact that
Ereldryl was scammed by two of your lovely members and there's
the fact that she saw thieving as something playful and
adventurous once, even better than a treasure hunt in musty
tombs. Her recent wealth, now property of the Sixty Thieves, was
acquired through a bank robbery. If you add this into the bigger
picture below I believe that my character is fit for a criminal
lifestyle despite her heritage. In terms of, well, "OOC vibes" I
get something positive back while interacting with your guild
members. So that fits as well, I just cannot tell if that
answers your question about my OOC motivation. What I mean is
that during the roleplay I feel treated fairly, am entertained
and seem to share the feelings on your side as well.
- Tell us about your character's background and how they
became/are becoming a criminal
Ereldryl was born in a noble house that she refuses to name when
confronted. Even as a royal shal'dorei she seemed to be on the
losing side of high society, her family was insignificant and
solely known for a failed coup targeted at the Grand Magistrix
herself. As such her parents were determined to do everything
right with her only child to cleanse their negative reputation
and snuff out the gossip throughout Suramar City. Ereldryl of
course had her own head, barely interested in becoming an
arcanist that browses through thick, dusty tomes up in a tower
where she is cut off from society. But what could her parents do
with an incompetent daughter that likes nothing more than
drinking wine and sharing gossip? Of course they failed to see
that Ereldryl turned into a proper socialite - something she
cannot shake off until this day and she clings to.
I'd like to jump to recent events to cut this short. I'm sure
this has been dragging on long enough already.
Liberated and thrown into a world that shifted so much outside
of the bubble, Ereldryl's wealth dwindled. The economy collapsed
inside Suramar City and her standard of living could only be
held up through "real" work. She took on a job at the Embassy
from which she was fired after a week-long absence - a member of
the Wheel of Entropy, known ICly only as "The Brotherhood" took
interest in her and got partly behind the facade Ereldryl has
build up throughout the years: Her degree in the arts of arcane
magic is fake, acquired through bribing the right mages at the
right time. She is void of most of her claimed skills but can be
shaped, shaped into something great a cult could profit from. Of
course a cult never pays...and so Ereldryl slipped deeper into
poverty until the Brotherhood decided to rob a bank. The last
bits of her wealth she later invested into property that was
basically worthless, convinced by two con artist and the
Reliquary Institute.
What might be worth mentioning to close this paragraph: Ereldryl
was freed from her "mentor" and seeking a new one inside the
Brotherhood for the most part failed. Her personality and
convictions could not be molded into the desired shape.
- What kind of skills does your character have?
Oh as you read she's incompetent.
...no, not quite. If you ignore the fact that she is clumsy and
socially awkward you can easily see that her magical skills
largely improved. She knows how to write, prettily even and
recently picked up the basics of first aid. She is an excellent
liar of course given the fact that she never went to mage school
and now has truly fallen from grace. Holding up part of her
facade might be helpful, a noble has connections and wishes to
uphold her standard of living despite all.
- How powerful is your character?
I'm a low power player. I am not sure if this shows if you've
read up to this part and never met Ereldryl. I believe that RP
is boring if you play an allmighty character - Ereldryl was
build on the simple concept of being a stereotypical nightborne
mage and then scaled down to what she is over time and
experience. She hates getting physical, would only do so if
someone struck her first. She prefers to lie, cheat or simply
run away if the situation allows it. She sticks to codes and
rules as far as they concern herself and her friends. She is not
afraid of shady personalities and has spent plenty of time
around them.
- How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
consequences?
Conflict can but does not have to go hand in hand with drama.
The latter can actually be nice at times but generally should
better be avoided. Either way, Ereldryl serves her revenge cold.
She plots, does not immediately strike back if she is hit. I
guess the only relevant story here is that my pretty nightborne
has a large, prominent scar trailing along one side of her face.
She thinks she’s hideous now and usually covers her face in a
way. This is something no one “fixed” for her and a part of her
history as her other scars. I’m not sure if that is what you
wanted to hear here but that’s all I can offer at the time.
- What would your character's nickname be?
I was thinking Roost but that might be taken. If it’s not
allowed to take the same initial letter as you would do in a
nickname E and Eight would be out too. So...if none of these
work I’ll work something new out with you.
- Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
yourself?
I’m sort of a classic addict? I’m joking of course but since
Classic launched I let this application slack a bit. That does
not mean I won’t be active, some of my motivation to level to 60
died down (mostly due to travel time) so I will be active in the
guild, don’t worry.
Something else to solve the mystery how I met the guild: I have
an alt, Graspy Gigacrook, who is a goblin and works for the
Reliquary Institute. She met a lovely troll in Ratchet before
who claims she fishes for a living and of course was involved in
the recent scam event. Together with a small group Graspy
visited the dig site in Eversong Woods that was supposed to
contain priceless relics.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to write this application - it
was interesting to read about Ereldryl with what you've shared!
Only one question from me at this time: would you be willing to
accept consequences from conflict such as imprisonment, light to
severe beatings, and in the rare cases even death, should the
situation call for it? In most cases, a criminal in Sixty
Thieves only suffers the severe sorts of consequences when they
themselves are initiating the crimes to deserve it, but it
should be kept in mind that working within a guild of crime can
often mean that members on some occasion take the fall for
someone else's crimes, and thus the consequences that follow. We
as a guild would never force death, or force severe injuries on
someone who doesn't consent to it, but we do expect all members
of the guild to be responsible with their decisions on whether
or not to take consequences for their actions!
Thanks! Look forwards to hearing back from you!

As part of the RP experiences I have made and my former guild
what you describe is nothing new to me. The question would be of
course if I really wanted to kill off my character at some point
and I would say that's doubtful. The other things...my character
has some past experience with it. Particularly imprisonment has
a symbolic value as well that we could delve into at some point
(or not, if the chance does not arise). I hope that answers your
question.

Thanks for the response!
We officers have spoken amongst ourselves and thought we'd make
you aware of something before giving you our answer:
We, the officers, do not aim for characters in Sixty Thieves to
get killed, but we are very aware of the possibility of it
happening, as it has happened in the past and will certainly
happen in the future! There are quite a few conflict plots we
take part in which can lead to severe consequences for both us,
and the people we are roleplaying with. It is important to note
that severe consequences don't always mean death, but they can
include it. Due to this, it is important that the characters
that involve themselves in the conflict roleplay are killable
themselves, even if the chances of death are completely unlikely
- but having mutual agreements around the groups that are RPing
means that the roleplay that follows can be dynamic and smooth
for all parties involved. So, we are stating this to you in your
application so you are OOCly aware of what your character could
be walking into. This does not mean you can't join on an
unkillable character. However, you may be excluded from a large
part of the guild's roleplay. It's especially notable that your
character should not partake in robbery or thieving against
player characters, if they are not open to these kind of
consequences. If you have any questions about this, you may tell
us! But if you find it agreeable, then...
Approved!
Contact a member of the officer team in-game to arrange an
interview with your character. Though it is worth noting that a
lot of our members are currently "in hiding" after the recent
war campaign, so you may need to wait a short while until we
return to more active RP hubs. You can also ask us about this,
if you so wish! The in-game officer team includes Thalindor,
Zria, Nayxx, and Laerynna. Thanks!
