Ilthanis' Application
By: Ilthanis Date: September 6, 2019, 4:31 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
- How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
I myself first heard of the Sixty Thieves about two years ago
through being in the Shamsana Pet Services with Chiel Nightfall
and only heard positive things. About a year later Ilthanis
himself learned of them through the same association with Chiel.
- What is your character's name and race?
Ilthanis, a Blood Elf, this is his name both IC and OOC.
- Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
I myself would love to join the thieves because the more I learn
of them the more excited I get at how professional everything
seems to be run and the general theme of the guild, the
characters and the OOC interactions with some of your members.
Ilthanis has much of the same reasons, though in his case his
decision is also fueled by his lover being amongst the thieves
and their dislike of his former boss. The enemy of my enemy is
my friend. After a talk he had In Character his decision to try
and become a part of the family has been sealed.
- Tell us about your character's background and how they
became/are becoming a criminal
Ilthanis Duskborne, youngest sibling and son of a Blood Knight
has always had a penchant for going against authority that is
pushed on him. I have been writing an elaborate (11 pages so
far) background story for a while now, adding a new part
whenever I feel like writing one, where Ilthanis' story truly
begins. During the Shattered Sun offensive Ilthanis' older and
only sibling, his sister Elaria, pushes him to get off the
streets of Silvermoon and join her in the fight to reclaim the
Sunwell. After a few months of going through harsh training by a
human captain with a dislike for Ilthanis and an eye for Elaria
the elven rogue finds his sister dead and he decides to take
revenge on the man he blames for it, Captain Stroude.
Ilthanis ambushes the man in an assassination attempt that would
cost the elf his right eye, before finally the Captain succumbs
to his wounds inflicted by Ilthanis' surprise attack. In the
years after Ilthanis falls into a depression and drug dependancy
which he eventually climbs out of thanks to the help of a friend
he made during the offensive. This is where I started playing
him as a character in WoW, and from there he went from a drunk
gambler on the streets to joining Chiel as guardsman for her
company (despite his obvious lack of physical prowess). When
Shamsana came to an end he begged to stay by Chiel's side as she
went on to drown herself deeper and deeper into the underworld,
where she ended up joining the G.I.A and brought Ilthanis along
into their fold. Before Chiel would make her move to bring down
Nimsil, she told Ilthanis, who has just gotten a new lover, to
get out of the game and live in peace.
Peace drove Ilthanis to boredom and boredom drove Ilthanis, once
more, to drugs. Months after Chiel last saw the elven rogue she
found him once more, as she had before, high and drunk on the
streets of Orgrimmar and she took him in to join her at her side
with Kaziik, where she started her attempts to groom Ilthanis
into becoming a reliable ally in her criminal world. When the
woman he'd still been calling boss all this time eventually had
to create her own criminal empire, Ilthanis followed her,
fiercely loyal and ever more the criminal after spending his
time on the streets of Orgrimmar in the disguise of a beggar.
By Chiel's side as she attempted to become a crime lord Ilthanis
experienced some of the roughest moments in his life, but he
also found love in a place he had not looked to find it. He has
grown ever closer to her while Chiel's actions drove him away.
With his lover on the opposing side and his boss neglecting
Ilthanis ever more, he started feeling powerless and angry. He
had become motivated to grow more skilled, more involved with
the criminal world if only so he could use this skill to protect
the ones he loves. When the time came for promotions within the
Family and Ilthanis was once more passed over while another far
less active member of the family had their promotion he walked
away in anger, making his way to his lover, who he would spend
the next few days with.
When yesterday Kaziik came to find Ilthanis, the goblin informed
him of something that put the final nail in the coffin of
Ilthanis' loyalty to Chiel. Now, Ilthanis, free from the
shackles of his previously beloved boss, has sought out the
council of the Sixty Thieves, on what to do next, and informed
them of his desire to join their family.
- What kind of skills does your character have?
Ilthanis is a terrible flirt, who delights in getting a reaction
out of people, negative or positive. Skillswise, he has a
certain way with words, the uncanny ability to make people feel
sorry for him and... Well. Surely there's something else, right?
Good with words, people feel sorry for him.. He's... Good at
getting his nose broken? Six times and counting!
- How powerful is your character?
Ilthanis has a tendency to get beaten up even by the weakest
characters he runs into. Though trained during his few months
with the offensive, very little of it has stuck with him, mainly
because his training was that of an archer and he managed to
lose his dominant eye in the struggle to kill his captain, who
he only managed to kill because he was caught off guard.
- How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
consequences?
Conflict in RP is, in my eyes, anything that involves two or
more characters interacting with each other. Any one person
might believe having your character lay their hand on their
character's shoulder is a breach of conduct and they have every
right to believe so, consent is important every single step of
the way. Despite this, I also believe that you should be able to
take what you dish out. If you wish to come after Ilthanis and
hurt him, kill him, or otherwise, I will allow it only if the
same actions can be taken against their character and they stick
with it.
I have been a part of two rather major retcons while having
played Ilthanis and as much as I dislike taking back things that
were already played out IC, this was deemed for the best by the
majority of the parties involved. (Or, in the second retcon's
case, the party that wasn't me.)
- What would your character's nickname be?
Despite his now desire to leave the Family, Kaziik offered
Ilthanis the codename of "Wink" in <The Family> and he has grown
quite fond of it.
- Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
yourself?
It's been a very long time since I applied to a practically
famous guild through their forums, but I am very excited to see
where this might take me! Does anyone remember the Cult of the
Raptor? Jar'jae be Jar'jae!

Hello!
Thanks for taking the time to write this out, and for your
patience as we came to a conclusive... approved.
Ilthanis' initiation is already set up IC, so he can seek out
Thalindor and Laerynna today as IC planned and we will go from
there!
