Application - Gutwrench
By: Gamara Gutwrench Date: April 17, 2019, 1:22 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Application form: Gutwrench.
- How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
I've seen the guild around for years now, but I never made
contact. Up until one of your lovely members noticed a lack of
backstory in my About on my Zandalari. This member and I had a
chat and then she made me a backstory \o/ Since then we've
become good friends.
- What is your character's name and race?
Gamara Gutwrench, Main Timeline Orc (Greenskinned)
- Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
I've had my eye on the guild for a few years now, but former
friends would have me shy away from it and encouraged me to
avoid the guild. Character wise, Gamara's a low-life who'd fit
into the guild, if I joined a Clan or Warband on her than it
would develop her away from the concept of being this low-life
sneak and criminal filth.
- Tell us about your character's background and how they
became/are becoming a criminal Gamara was born within Durnholde
Keep, to a mother and father from the Bonechewer Clan, upon the
invasion of Azeroth before the clan became corrupted into Chaos
Orcs. While she grew up she had the Elders within the camp teach
her of her Clans ways, such as cannibalism and wearing your
killed foes entrails over themselves. However the corruption of
her clan drove her to hide her past and simply wear the visage
of a clanless orc. She hasn't gotten along well with the
Loyalists to the various Warchiefs and always saw the world from
the gutter. This drove her to fend for herself!
- What kind of skills does your character have?
Despite her clans fierce reputation, Gamara isn't a savage.
She's more akin to a cornered starving dog, when push comes to
shove she'll fight back without restraint. But she'd rather fend
for scraps, pickpocket targets, or look for things to steal from
market stalls or shops. Or even brawl for coin or food. She's a
sneak, having lived as a surviving member of a hated Clan that
is no ally to the Horde, this has given her a keen sharpness to
avoid mention of certain things and lie through her teeth.
- How powerful is your character?
She's not powerful, but she's cunning and logical. She wields no
magical affinity or power and prefers agility and brain over
brawn (If she's not enraged)
- How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
consequences?
Conflict in RP is brilliant, so long as it stays in RP. Whenever
I did criminal RP in the past on the Alliance side I would be
sure to keep a constant and possitive communication in /w with
the target to make sure their is no hate, ill thoughts, unfair
actions or miss communications on emotes and what happens. With
regards to consequences their is a saying I like to refer too on
the subject: "RP is like a sewer, what you get out of it,
depends on what you put into it." And weirs the fun in being an
untouchable king of thieves?
- What would your character's nickname be?
Gamara hasn't given thought to nicknames, she simply tells
everyone that she's not passed her Om'riggor and because she's
clanless she has yet to earn her last name or right of passage
to adulthood. This means she has a story/lie to keep her last
name hidden from others which is why I believe "Gutwrench" is
probably the best contender, name-wise.
- Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
yourself?
I ran a largely unknown criminal guild on the Alliance side in
2016, making a small return in 2017 to help deal with a toxic
guild IC.
- Story or IC letter (optional) N/A

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to write this application.
I have one question in particular, if you can indulge me:
Your character's parents were part of the Bonechewer Clan - a
clan which is known for their insanity, due to losing themselves
to dark impulses, which is thus the reason they split off from
the sane Bleeding Hollows. Can you elaborate on how it is that
your character's parents came to Durnholde Keep? The lore for
Bonechewer's Clan is relatively complex (or arguably scarce), so
I am curious what you have decided on the matter.
We look forwards to your response!

Hello there! And thank you for taking the time to read my
application and get back to me.
What I'll explain now is loose paraphrasing, rather than word
for word quoting. After the fall of Stormwind in the Rise of the
Horde novel it states that Orgrim Doomhammer sent messengers
back to Draenor to replenish their forces, the messenger returns
to tell Orgrim that the remaining clans have descended further
into bloodlust and manic infighting. Leaving only a few Orcs and
Ogres to bolster the Horde.
The last sentance above is what I personally see as a small
loop-hole in the scarce lore of the clan (That being my own
opinion of it.) Her parents are part of the "only a few orcs"
who join the invasion of Azeroth after they call for more forces
from Draenor. During the war/invasion they're captured and sent
to a smaller internment camp, later moved to Durnholde. Gamara
herself doesn't know of her parents and they didn't survive the
camps either. All she learnt and knew about the Clans of Draenor
was taught by word-of-mouth from the Elders and Orcs in the
Camps.
The way I see it, having her born in a camp helps me to steer
her away from the clans true nature a little easier, because
she'd only be Bonechewer by name, rather than actions and
madness.

Thanks for the response!
You using the loophole as a means to explain the bonechewer part
is more than reasonable, in the absence of solid proof
suggesting otherwise, and that quote in the rise of the horde
novel is what we assumed was the reason as well!
