Application - Kulahkukhan
By: Kulahkukhan Date: April 9, 2019, 4:46 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
-I've been on AD for a very long time and have spotted the
Thieves around over the last few years. It wasn't until recently
that I had a short-lived non-permanent character in Booty Bay in
the last few months in which I encountered the guild on a more
formal/informal level ICly.
What is your character's name and race?
-Kulahkukhan <> Drakkari Troll (TRP Race might come under
"Looky Looky Mon")
Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
-On a more personal level I would like the opportunity to be
part of a community again in a more social aspect type of guild
that welcomes characters which can be viewed as slightly out of
the norm; something I haven't engaged in in a few years. My
character on the other hand would be interested in joining the
Thieves as his style would work well and compliment the feel and
tone of the guild; he on an IC basis would be much like myself
and being a Drakkari, which is no longer an existing Tribe,
would long for a sense of home and community.
Tell us about your character's background and how they
became/are becoming a criminal?
-Kulahkukhan came from Zul'drak just as the War in the North
(Lich King Era) was coming to a close. With nowhere else to go
he put aside his previous life and attempted to make a living in
Orgrimmar and other capital Cities, using different crafting
techniques that allow him to create trinkets and baubles to sell
to people, albeit somewhat fraudulently or misselling
"customers". In short he became a criminal in order to make
money and to feed himself.
What kind of skills does your character have?
-Kulahkukhan, being a Drakkari was raised in a very war-torn
environment of the frozen north and can handle a weapon with
efficiency if need be. However his skills excel in the art of
speechcraft. With a compelling argument to make at almost any
topic and furthermore his ability to sell his "goods" for far
more than what they're worth through charismatic confidence, he
brings in money on a false-trust basis and basic slight of hand
when need be. One could describe him as a Con-man.
How powerful is your character?
-Being a Troll he can regenerate his limbs given enough time.
He is over 8ft tall which makes him large and somewhat opposing.
He does not and cannot use magic offensively or defensively but
might give one a run for their money in a combat scenario.
How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
consequences?
-I have hosted games of D&D and ran guilds previously in WoW
and in RP and this is something that would occasionally crop up
that one would need to deal with. I'd define conflict in WoW RP
as two character that have opposing IC interests and aim to
remain strictly IC and not allow character feelings to bleed
into OOC; as that's where real trouble begins. I feel defining
conflict in RP is a very case-by-case basis and no two arguments
are often the same. As for consequences I am very much an
advocate of "Your consequences are your own" in that if I mess
up, I should face consequences both IC and OOC and I expect
other Rpers to uphold his sense of moral code as well without
taking things too personally OOCly. There are consequences for
actions when we turn the computer off, so there should be
consequences for our actions in RP as well for our actions.
What would your character's nickname be?
-Frigid. I had "Cool" suggested as a pun on the characters
name, being pronounced "Kool-ah-koo-Kaan, but I feel this is too
narcissistic to use IC and OOC.
Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
yourself?
-I've been RPing for a very long time and are well versed in
the Lore of Warcraft in order to make my character seem as
authentic as possible whilst taking small liberties that might
not be definitely stated in lore itself in order to create a
more cohesive character and storyline. I am also an experienced
DM with over 8 years experience on WoW and out of WoW and both
Led and Officer'd guilds in the past; which has helped me
develop essential skills in management and conflict resolution
as well as working as a team.

Hi there, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this
application and your overall interest to join!
There is one immediate thing that has been considered when
reading your application, and that's to do with your character's
race and their lifestyle based in Orgrimmar.
You say that you aim to make your characters as authentic as
possible. How would you uphold the authenticity when playing a
hostile type of troll (being ice trolls) in a city that does not
welcome him, and would likely be executed if identified? (This
goes for any and all Horde towns and cities, for that matter)
I ask this, because a main concern is that your character would
suffer many limitations on where he can and cannot realistically
go, or he would be an unstable asset IC in the sense that the
Horde's disliking to ice trolls means that he will, as said
before, likely face execution the moment he enters any
non-neutral territory. The Sixty Thieves operate largely within
Horde territories, so this would place a lot of restrictions on
your everyday RP.
Thanks, we look forwards to a response!

Hiyah,
Thanks for responding,
I believe the concern in limitations as to what the character
can do and go would have been more accurate say 3-4 years Ago
ICly but in a more modern time on Azeroth this view should have
substantially changed given the recent war in Zandalar and
through the current political climate and immigration within
Orgrimmar itself.
The first point I'd like to raise is that Ice Troll's are
welcome in the Zandalari; this is canonized by the Mists of
Pandaria scenario "Blood in the Snow" in which an Agent of
Zandalari is sent to recruit Ice Trolls into the Zandalari
Empire; which in spite of that specific scenario the Dwarves won
that skirmish, considering there is a Drakkari Troll present in
Zuldazar itself; the presence of Speaker Malaka'raz in the
Terrace of Speakers as the Ambassador of the remaining Drakkari
indicates that they were successful in recruiting them into the
Zandalari Empire. Which, as per the current events in BFA; in
which the Zandalari are now part of the Horde, shows that any
Ice Troll with affiliation allied with the Zandalari Empire are
now classed as Horde.
Furthermore, as for the characters physical appearance his skin
and hair are blue and white respectively however he does not
have a flattened face like a lot of Ice Troll's do and does in
fact show the appearance of a regular Troll albeit with blue
skin and white hair, customisation options that can be selected
when one creates their character; which as we know is a
Darkspear in the actual game itself.
Lastly, the character is a Fraud-Con Man in which his
silver-tongue and charisma can get him out of any kind of
situation for the most part with his own arguments if this were
to come up ICly, through simply showing his fake wares and
claiming to not be an Ice Troll and stating he only "Looks like
this to look more interesting for customers" and after
presenting his fake items, this should be enough to alleviate
any queries or anti-Ice Troll arguments presented; by simply
admitting he's a fake. However he does not actively hang around
guards and tends to stay in shadier areas or a slightly crowded
area in which he can attempt to blend in where Law Enforcement
would have less chance to act upon this kind of engagement.
These are the arguments that would allow me to hold up RPing an
authentic Ice Troll both through Lore Aspects and Anti-Ice Troll
Rpers who are unaware of the first point or outright refuse to
accept this, (Which we all know happens on occasion)
Thanks for taking the time to read my reply,
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Regards,
Kulahkukhan

Hi again, thanks for the quick response (and thank you also for
your patience for our replies!)
I appreciate the thought that has gone into your character.
Us officers interpret the lore differently, however, and it
isn't a matter of refusing to accept a certain lore aspect, it's
a matter of maintaining scepticism in face of a lack of solid
evidence. The most up-to-date information that we do have on
this matter states that Speaker Malaka'raz is the last
representative of the Drakkari
(
HTML https://wow.gamepedia.com/House_of_the_Fallen_Tribes),
and that
the tribe is defunct (
HTML https://wow.gamepedia.com/Drakkari_tribe).<br
/>Speaker Malaka'raz also refers to himself as a mere exotic
curiosity to show to the Zandalari children
(
HTML https://wow.gamepedia.com/Speaker_Malaka%27raz).
Also, we have no evidence that suggests that with the Zandalari
joining the Horde, the other troll tribes would be welcome as
well (or other allies of the Zandalari, such as the Vulpera and
Tortollans). The Zandalari are accommodating Amani and Farraki
trolls as well, both of which are hostile. What it says about
the other ice troll tribes which are still stated to be active
(Winterax and Frostmane) is that they dislike the idea of the
Zandalari joining the Horde, and they are stated to be neutral
to the Horde (e.g.
HTML https://wow.gamepedia.com/Frostmane_tribe).
It is true that in the absence of Blizzard shedding more light
on certain angles of the lore, we players sometimes need to
adapt and fill in some of the missing gaps to make role play
fluent.
Putting the Drakkari part aside (partially), ice trolls (and
especially Drakkari) are big (stated to be larger than most
other tribes) and their general physique is hard to hide unless
they're an abnormal, runt-like character. And if they were this
type of character, it would be so convenient that it brings to
the question why they are not a race that is more fitting and
normal to the narrative (though I understand the desire to
remain eager for a concept you have created)
Due to the differing opinions on what is right/wrong in regards
to this particular situation, we are unable to take the
character due to seeing this as a case in which the character
is, in the eyes of Sixty IC and OOC, unfit because of their
limitations and dangerous lifestyle living amongst a city that
would realistically view Kula as hostile.
That being said, I thank you again for your interest and putting
the effort into this application. You are welcome, should there
be any desire, to apply on a different character in which we
will read at our earliest convenience!
