       Application - Jinkusu
By: Jinkusu Date: March 7, 2019, 9:30 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       - How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
I've been a member of the <Brethren of the Coast> for quite some
time. While serving Ching Hongyu (my main), the captain of the
Serpent's Breath, we had contact with the Sixty Thieves to set
up smuggling routes and find fences to sell our wares to. I was
also the GM of the guild, but since Hongyu died ICly, I have
       continued on my alt Jinkusu.
       - What is your character's name and race?
I RP a Pandaren named Jinkusu.
       - Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
First of all, when Captain Hongyu died at sea, my character
barely got out alive. Ever since, she's looking to continue her
"pirate" ways in a different way. Since she finds all the other
Pirate captains incompetent, she has recalled the interaction
she had with the Thieves before and now seeks to join them.
Personally, I have seen a lot of fun and quality RP coming from
the Thieves and I wish to become part of it.
       - Tell us about your character's background and how they
       became/are becoming a criminal
Jinkusu has a very neutral stance towards right and wrong. She
simply does not care that what she is does is illegal or
immoral. All she cares about is taking what she wants. Very
early on in her thieving career she had signed up to join the
Serpent's Breath as the spymaster. Captain Hongyu had her scour
the various ports across Azeroth to gather information from the
locals and see what the other captains were up to. Sometimes,
this involved stealing something valuable to gain the upper hand
in a conflict later on. Jinkusu prefers never to be seen, silent
as a ghost, quick as a fox. Hence, she has gained the nickname
       "The Fox".
       - What kind of skills does your character have?
Jinkusu is an expert at staying out of sight, and when she has
to gather information, she uses a nifty coin that can change her
appearance for a while, blending into any environment. Should
she ever be spotted, she always carries smoke bombs to cover her
escape, or sedative poisons to slow down her enemies. Killing is
something she would only do when cornered and there's no other
way to prevent her own death. Wounding others however to gain
information she needs is not something she will shy away from.
       - How powerful is your character?
As a Pandaren, she has trained well in the martial arts, but she
is far from being a master in it. Her power does not come from
her personal strength, but from her ingenuity in gathering
       information and quick wits.
       - How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
       consequences?
Conflict is a part of any interaction, whether it happens sooner
or later. Through my pirate RP on Hongyu, I've already realised
that criminal RP has its consequences, and injury or even death
can occur. Hell, I've experienced it first-hand when my main RP
char died at sea. For me, it's important to do a lot of OOC
chatter beforehand so both parties up to date about the possible
injuries or deaths that could happen before the actual IC
       interaction commences.
       - What would your character's nickname be?
Since Jinkusu is already nicknamed The Fox by her friends (and
if it's still available in the guild) that would also be her
       nickname now.
       - Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
       yourself?
I have played WoW for about 11 years now, 6 of which were my RP
years. I'm also a huge fan of creative writing and often use WoW
RP as a training ground for characters I use in other stories I
       write.

Hey there, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this
       application!
I remember Ching, and it's a shame to see her dead, but exciting
to give the main-char mantle to another character, I imagine.
I have a question first of all: your character seems smart
enough to have a back-up plan if she got caught, as she carries
smokebombs and poison. Would you still be more than willing to
get caught if her opponent is smarter with their actions towards
       Jinkusu?
You also mentioned your character has a coin that can change her
appearance - how powerful is it and how often can be used, and
to what extent does it change her appearance?
And thirdly, I wanted to state here that this guild really does
not fiddle with stealth being used IC. It's a mechanic that has
caused various issues for us before, and we believe the cons of
the use of the stealth spell to outweigh the pro's. Sneaking and
spying in bushes with /e disclaimers of trying to stay hidden
are fine! But we do not allow the use of stealth IC, even if it
       is justified by shadow magic!
Hope to hear from you on your thoughts and answers!

Thanks for the reply, let me answer your questions:
Q: I have a question first of all: your character seems smart
enough to have a back-up plan if she got caught, as she carries
smokebombs and poison. Would you still be more than willing to
get caught if her opponent is smarter with their actions towards
       Jinkusu?
I'm very open to improv RP as the situation develops. Even smoke
bombs are not a 100% guarantee of escape. Plan B can only go so
far. The scars she has prove that she hasn't always escaped
       conflict without serious wounds.
Q: You also mentioned your character has a coin that can change
her appearance - how powerful is it and how often can be used,
and to what extent does it change her appearance?
She can use a coin of many faces to change her appearance for a
short amount of time, less than one hour. However, it takes a
heavy toll on her body and she requires time (Possibly a week
in-game time) before being able to use it again. It changes her
appearance to become Human or Worgen for some time for example.
She would look exactly like someone else, however, Fel Vision
for example and True Sight can see through the disguise. It has
its weaknesses. Null fields also despell her.
Q: And thirdly, I wanted to state here that this guild really
does not fiddle with stealth being used IC. It's a mechanic that
has caused various issues for us before, and we believe the cons
of the use of the stealth spell to outweigh the pro's. Sneaking
and spying in bushes with /e disclaimers of trying to stay
hidden are fine! But we do not allow the use of stealth IC, even
if it is justified by shadow magic!
I understand the hesitance with accepting stealth in RP, however
I use a simple system. My stealth strength is based on the
distance I have between any players. Every 10 yards, the roller
gets +2 to their roll. If they roll above 15 (D20 roll) after I
make known that I'm stealthed, they will spot me. So if I am 100
yards away from someone, they will have no bonus, but if I am
close enough as in 10 yards, they will get a large roll bonus
which will almost certainly reveal me in some way, or at least
make my location known. I will always make the target aware of
my stealth OOCly through whisper. I understand however that the
guild is hesitant with possible powerplay issues and should I
become a member, I will only use stealth through shadow magic in
PvE situations for unique situations where rolling has a more
clearly defined place. If you are an avid Heroes of the Storm
(Blizzard MoBA) gamer, you know the type of stealth I'm talking
about. There is always a ripple visible in the air when
stealthed, so even the naked eye can spot it if they get close
       enough.
