       Application - Ingeram
By: Ingeram Date: February 16, 2019, 2:34 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       - How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
I have come across some of their members in-game, and roleplayed
with them on previous characters, and I've seen the forum
       thread.
       - What is your character's name and race?
My character's called Ingeram and he's an undead rogue.
       - Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
Erwin Ingeram desires the security and protection of an
organized crime group. His previous criminal exploits have been
of the lone wolf variety, and this has exposed him to a
significant degree of risk that he's looking to avoid. The Sixty
Thieves are seasoned criminals who have survived in the criminal
underworld for some time, so they're an attractive choice for
       Ingeram.
I want to join the Sixty Thieves because I enjoy criminal
roleplay and think Warcraft's universe provides plenty of rich
opportunity for it. I think criminal roleplay involves all the
risk, tension, ingenuity and conflict that makes roleplay
interesting. I know of a couple of people who're in the guild
and I like the roleplay. From reading the forum thread, I think
the standard of roleplay generally is high - which is an obvious
       point of appeal.
I also think that my current character suits a guild of this
kind and should be a fun and worthwhile addition.
       - Tell us about your character's background and how they
       became/are becoming a criminal
Erwin Ingeram was risen shortly prior to the Invasion of Gilneas
to develop biological weapons for the Royal Apothecary Society.
His grave was sought out after Forsaken officials, busy poring
over historical records in search of worthy recruits, identified
him as a former apothecary with extensive experience in
       developing toxins.
Ingeram worked diligently on the weapons programmes, more out of
interest in the craft than love for any Forsaken ideology, and
became well-regarded as a consultant for the Forsaken military.
Ingeram began selling his knowledge of weapons to goblin cartel
associates, as well as 'procuring' particular weapons for the
right price. He hopes the funds from these secretive
transactions will one day earn him the gold to rebuild his home
in Alterac - one of the few memories from his life that he is
able to recall. His sale of toxins to these unscrupulous types
has earned him the moniker 'Blight Baron'.
Ingeram is mindful of who he deals with, as he doesn't want to
inadvertently supply the Alliance with valuable weapons
knowledge and land himself in Forsaken custody. Most recently,
Ingeram killed a suspected SI:7 informer who had arranged to
meet him at a Booty Bay waterfront apartment to purchase a toxin
sample. Near misses like this have left him wanting the support
       of a bigger criminal network.
       - What kind of skills does your character have?
Ingeram is knowledgeable about various toxins. He is a deceptive
and cunning strategist. His undeath robs him of most emotional
restraint. He is accustomed to skulking around, smuggling
various weapons and schematics through Azeroth's many port
towns. He is quick with a blade, which he conceals on his
person, and he tends to fight dirty. He is a sharp objects
enthusiast and connoisseur of stabbing people repeatedly until
       they are dead.
       - How powerful is your character?
His physicality is similar to most Forsaken; he doesn't need to
sleep, eat or drink. Most of his limbs are second, third and
forth hand (except his hands, which are fifth hand), and to an
orc he might be considered rather brittle. He's certainly not
strong enough to succeed in the criminal underworld without
support. He can win a one-to-one (or possibly one-on-two) fight
through surprise attacks or by lulling his enemies into a false
sense of security - as deception is his strength in combat - but
outside of these circumstances he'd have a tough time doing
       anything but fleeing.
       - How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
       consequences?
I think conflict is crucial to criminal roleplay. Criminals rob,
steal and cheat - and all this is necessarily going to involve
conflict. Criminals who mess up get killed off, and death is a
common consequence in most organized crime groups. I think
conflict drives story, and accepting consequences is important
to keeping the story moving along at a good pace.
       - What would your character's nickname be?
Possibly something like 'Rattles' or 'Bones' (depending on how
familiar or not familiar other characters are with Forsaken by
now) or 'Goggles'. Currently, he introduces himself to business
       contacts as Baron from Brill.
       - Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
       yourself?
I think that's all. I'm happy to try and answer any questions.
       - Story or IC letter (optional)

Hi there Ingeram! Thank you for the application! It was very
detailed and thorough, not to mention an interesting read.
Before I begin, I think you discussed with our Officers about
the fact we are currently closed for applications, yet, we will
get back to you when we open up again. I figured I would mention
it here anyway. There is one question I do have to ask.
       1) Your character is no stranger to killing, and killing is
something that the Thieves very much frown upon, for various
reasons. Do you think Ingeram would be able to work together
with such a group and be able to shed his killing ways, or would
that perhaps provide some tension and conflict to either him or
       the group as a whole?

       ---------------------------------------------------------
As I see it, much of Ingeram's killing so far has been out of
necessity. Like most criminals, he can't rely on the state and
so he relies on the threat of violence as his means of
enforcement. As a brittle skeleton in a dusty suit, most
criminals just laugh off the threat of violence - and then he
ends up being forced to show that the threat wasn't hollow. He
doesn't feel remorse, but he doesn't revel in the killing
       either.
Now, were he with the Sixty Thieves, the threat of violence
would carry more weight and could hopefully bring about conflict
resolutions without any stabbing needing to be done! He could
also rely on the experience of other Sixty Thieves members to
help him avoid inadvertently selling weapons to informants who
he then has to try and kill. So being a part of the group in
general should help him to rely less on violence.

Hey there, and thank you for the interest!
The application seems to be very well-thought-out, and aside
from what has already been asked (and answered), I can't come up
with any further questions that couldn't be asked in roleplay.
Like you've already been told, it'll likely be two or so weeks
before we're able to proceed to taking matters IC. I'm hoping
that you'll still be interested at that time, because this
       application is now approved!
Feel free to contact Thalindor (myself), Laerynna, Kaziik, or
Chíel in-game if you have any further questions!
