Application - Lux
By: Lux Date: February 6, 2019, 7:39 am
---------------------------------------------------------
How did you learn about the Sixty Thieves?
I've been rping for a fair amount of time now and every so often
I'd encounter some of your members in the capital cities, but
recently I'd stumble into you almost every time I headed to the
Bay. Not to mention AA.
My character has learned about them pretty much the same way
by hearing rumours and stories, likely sugarcoated, and decided
she'll be damned if she doesn't try to get in.
What is your character's name and race?
My character's IC name is Lux and she is a blood elf. OOC her
name is Luxretia.
Why do you and your character seek to join the Sixty Thieves?
As someone who has been involved in guilds on both sides of the
spectre from the most innocent, peaceful type to a heavy
crime-oriented guild with triggering topics and themes, I'd
quite honestly like to try out something new. A place where you
evidently shy away from the guards or any other law enforcement,
but don't necessarily assassinate folk without a second thought.
Lux is interested because she considers herself to be a no-good
citizen that's not particularly talented in anything, and
believes that some petty thievery for the sake of feeding
herself cannot harm. Much. On a grander, potentially
sub-conscious aspect I believe she wishes to be part of a
community where people look after eachother; something she lost
in the past, and never truly regained but having been raised
among the scum of a capital city, the only type of community she
knows is exactly that. Lowlives and petty criminals.
What is your character's background like and how did they
become/are becoming a criminal?
Lux is a young elf. Coming from a poor, lower-class family in
Silvermoon, raised mostly on the streets as part of the urban
youth. Often having to nick a coin or two off of passing folk in
the Row in order to buy herself dinner. She was a teenager
during the time of scourge invasion, her parents were murdered
and she barely made it out purely by chance being in the right
place at the right time. She's been surviving by stealing from
the market and sleeping in hidden corners never been awfully
moral in certain aspects, but would never intentionally bring
harm to a person out of malice. Her motivation is money, as well
as survival now that she's been orphaned. She came to the Bay in
search for opportunities.
What kind of skills does your character have?
One of the reasons I really enjoy playing youngsters is this
specific thing they don't need to be very skilled in anything,
in fact it's frowned upon and considered OP very quickly if I
have my youngling be an expert in
any field, really. I enjoy
having my character learn and obtain new skills through rp and I
enjoy learning OOC as well. Saying that, I would really like to
have Lux improve her pick-pocketing skills as well as learning
how to smuggle. Perhaps even trading, if it ever came to that?
Trickery in general girl's a loud mouth, which can prove
extremely negative a lot of the time, but if the Thieves would
be willing to put effort into 'training' her, she'd absorb their
knowledge.
How powerful is your character?
Given everything I mentioned above, I'd have to very honestly
say she's not very powerful. Purely due to her physical
predisposition, being all skinny and long and lanky, but also
due to the fact she never experienced any sort of training,
professional or amateur.
If I had to point out one thing Lux is good at, it's probably
speed. As a street rat, you need to spend a lot of your time
running away from folk chasing you. She might land a few good
punches too, if her opponent isn't too powerful.
How would you define conflict in RP, and how do you feel about
consequences?
I think without consequences, rp is pointless. I like to think
I'm good at seeing the difference between IC and OOC, and while
I thoroughly enjoy drama IC, I don't like dealing with it OOC.
Saying that, I know how to handle consequences brought upon my
character and I accept them open-heartedly. Despite the fact I
tend to grow fond of the people I play, I'll never dispute
whatever punishment they're about to be met with. And again
learning. You learn through mistakes. Both IC and OOC.
What would your character's nickname be?
If I'm not mistaken, there's already a Kid among your ranks, but
something similar along those lines perhaps 'Rookie'? She's
young, relatively unexperienced and all of that. Her name is
shortened to the point where it can't get any shorter however,
so this can stick for a while until I think of something new.
Anything else you'd like to share about your character or
yourself?
This isn't my main and I never intended it to be, however rp on
my main characters has been extremely dull or practically
non-existent lately. I've been hoping that changing my
environment (I tend to stick to the capitals) will bring new
opportunities my way. I intend to rp on Lux actively. I feel
like I need to address this as well, as it's become a terrible
nuisance I've recently been experiencing a lot of issues with
my internet. From random DC's to no internet for a day or two at
all. I'll of course notify such absences.
Last thing I want to say is that I completely understand if you
are currently not interested in accepting an unskilled
youngling, a 'newbie' among your ranks. While I think it could
be a lot of fun and educational, I understand if you'd prefer to
stick to more experienced characters .

Ah, the inquisitive mystery approaches. Hello there!
IC skill-sets aren't strictly what the thieves are after in an
applicant. it's that feel you only get from a certain type: that
twinkle at the corner of their eye, or that slight ever-present
smile - as if they know more than they're letting on. Lux gives
me that impression, and so I'd argue the thieves would be fools
to turn down someone of her temperament.
You also seemed to take last night's approach in stride, odd as
the related buzzbox tricks seemed to me. While I can't give the
app an actual verdict, I'd love to RP with you more!

Hey there, thanks for taking the time to write this application,
and your general interest in the guild!
When it comes to roleplaying young characters, I certainly agree
it can be fun simply because you have an almost blank canvas to
work from, and your character is shaped entirely through the
roleplay scene!
I've no questions that can't wait until the following
interactions!
