Zria
By: Zria Date: October 11, 2018, 3:45 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
“Ratchet, huh?”. Zria had set foot in
Ratchet many times in her past dealing,s but the young troll
never expected she’d go there without working for the
Steamwheedle. Yet, the elf had suggested she venture there to
look for work, and so she would sell off her last knickknacks
before making her way to the Booty Bay docks”
- OOC and IC name and race
Zria and Zria! A troll.
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOC, why do you want to join?)
Zria is in her essence, an opportunist. She is always looking
for a way that’ll put some coin in her pocket, but that seldom
comes without utilization of her skillset, which does involve
stealing, smuggling, lying.. you name it! This all comes with a
danger, and working alone tends to mean less regular income as
well as no-one to have your back. Zria has long looked for a
place where her skills could be used alongside others and after
a chance meeting, she believes she might have heard of one such
place.
(As for why I would like to join: I have truly missed having a
character to RP on the Horde, as this is where I started and
spent the majority of my time when I first made a character on
Argent Dawn. Considering that I haven’t RP’d there for so long,
I know nothing of the scene there, which has kept me from
jumping at it for far too long. The reason why the Sixty Thieves
caught my fancy, was that a) It sounds like a guild made for my
troll, Zria. b) I have had interactions with several members
from the guild due to my human, Nal, who has gotten to know a
couple via Booty Bay. So for me, I already have proof that your
guild contains devoted roleplayers, which isn’t the case for
quite a few guilds on Alliance, which I assume extends to the
Horde as well.)
- What would their nickname be?
Zria is by now a character I have used a few times, but I have
not RP’d her in over six years and I don’t recall if she ever
had a nickname before. I am sure I can conjure one that would be
acceptable though, something like Tusks, Braids or even Fingers.
- How powerful is your character?
Zria knows how to swing a sword, fire a pistol or throw a knife
but it is not where her main skill set is. This also means she
doesn’t presently, nor has ever, allocated a lot of time to
becoming much of a fighter. She can hold her own provided she
fights dirty, but her weaponry is mainly a detergent. I think
the text you have tied to this question sums it up quite well.
She could take on a guard, on a good day. But if another shows
up, she’d be running for the hills if she wasn’t already doing
so to begin with. She’s not brave beyond belief and would in
9/10 cases be a troll of flight rather than fight.
- What's her/his background like?
Zria is the daughter of two shamans under the Horde banner. Her
mother who fell during the battle against the Scourge in the
cold north, and her father who stopped fighting upon his return
from Northrend.
Zria herself was always one keen on getting away from her fellow
trolls. Getting to see the world, getting to experience some of
her childhood stories as an adult. Yet, after she left home she
quickly discovered that travelling costs coin, and so does
living in general! She had fortunately always been quick with
her hands and on her feet, which over time developed her more
than a little skill in relocating other people’s personal
property. With time, she found herself working for the
Steamwheedle in more than a handful of successful smuggling
operations as well as a few botched one.. but we don’t talk
about those. Zria eventually ended up travelling, much like she
wanted. She has moved from place to place, pulling a job here or
there before selling whatever she had gotten her hands on, only
to move on to the next place. Eventually she made her way to the
Booty Bay, where an opportunity presented itself, was she to
head to the Barrens.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
Despite having many years of roleplaying on Argent Dawn by now,
I can honestly say that I am still not a massive lore-buff! I
know quite a bit, sure.. But one of the reason why my entire RP
roster consists of rather down-to-earth characters, derives in
part from the fact that I don’t know enough about lore to
accurately portray something like an archmage or archdruid.. an
archanything, really.
I can’t judge if the portrayal I do of Zria and her skillset is
lorebreaking in any way, but I have never had anyone question my
approach before, on Zria or my other characters.
That being said, if it should ever prove not to be the case, I
am not one to turn away feedback. I believe everyone is here to
learn, and while Zria isn’t about to pull a manabomb out of her
ear and fling it across two in-game zones with her middlefinger,
I would still gladly lend my ear to criticism if she does
-anything- someone would deem directly against the setting, from
a lore perspective or otherwise.
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
Given that Zria isn’t a master swordsman or a marksman to any
degree, it also means that she tends to shy away from the bloody
option whereever possible.
That being said, over the time I have roleplayed her in the
past, she has been associated with two murders. Neither were for
pleasure or the fun of it, but rather necessity. Zria is one who
would kill if it saves her own life, but in any other situation
would talk/run/incapacitate over killing.
- How do you feel about consequences in RP?
I love them.
No but seriously, they might be one of my favorite things about
roleplaying . Most of the roleplaying I have done has been with
my characters as antagonists, which do have to acknowledge that
we are greatly outnumbered and outgunned by the "good guys".
I like the idea of developing story with a character, even if
the path they are on will lead them to capture, prison or death.
I would never insert a character into an “evil” environment and
expect to be able to get out of trouble by loldodging or
“vanishing IC” or even hearthstoning out. I have found that I
can get attached to my characters, despite being okay with
losing them. It does mean it would be a sad affair if it
happened, but at the same time the roleplaying derived from it
could be fun for everyone involved, including me!
I don’t strive to have my characters killed off or face the
consequences of their actions, but I would never decline it
unless whoever was going to play judge and jury had put
themselves there via meta means.
I think I could rant about this for pages upon pages, so I’ll
just stop this here and let you ask questions if you’d like.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
Zria doesn’t really have any skills that you wouldn’t find in
other people, I believe.
She is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to stealing, smuggling
etc, but aside from that she isn’t a gal of many talents. If I
was to mention anything, it would be her ability to sell sand in
the desert. Not that she actually sold sand in the desert, but
she’s managed to sell broken or undesirable items to people in
the past, on salesmanship alone.. well, either that or
persistance.
- Activity
I do feel like I need to address this from the start. Zria is
not my main. She is my second character, or Horde main as I like
to refer to her as. My main is involved in a Pirate guild on the
Alliance, which means that I won’t be online 7 days a week on
Zria. Furthermore, I have a real life that needs tending to as
well.
I can’t say for sure that I will be online this or that much,
but I will do my best to be around whenever possible. And I will
never be further away than a poke on discord or a message on
bnet. If this means that Zria won’t be joining up, I fully
understand. But I would like to add that I know how frustrating
it can be if people dump their alts in a guild never to use
them, but I do plan to use Zria frequently and would of course
notify any possible long-time absence in advance.
If there are any questions about anything, I welcome them here
or in game.
Thank you for reading and I apologize for the occasional rants,
typos and nonsensicals. I am under the weather while writing
this, but I still stand by it all.

Hey there, thanks for taking the time to write this application!
While I haven't roleplayed with you myself (to my knowledge),
I've heard guildies enjoy their time interacting with you in the
Bay! That, alongside no notable questions that demand an answer
on this OOC platform, leads me to say...
Approved!
I really have nothing to ask that can't wait for the interaction
in roleplay.

Awesome! Thank you very much :)
I am unsure what next step is IC as well as OOC, but I am of
course reachable on Zria in the days to come.
Good night :P

Hi!
Like Fade above said, I am glad to hear you had a good
experience with the guildies. And above all: welcome to the red
side!
As a down to earth character that rather runs off with some
sweet loots rather than fighting and on boot has their criminal
experiences in the past, I am looking forward to see her mingle
and work with the lot.

Hello there!
Echoing the people above, there are no questions that come to
mind that can't wait for the RP itself! Looks like a well
thought-out application.
Approved!
Contact Thalindor, Laerynna, Erthamar, Einsam or Morduas in-game
to arrange for an in-game 'interview', so we can get the ball
rolling.
