Application: Valtroiss Poisonsword
By: Rossain Date: June 3, 2018, 3:16 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
A sigh filled the room as she continued sinking herself
in the chair. On the table there were a bunch of papers, all in
a methodical mess that only she understood. A few silvers were
scattered around, having been laid there for months, to the
point they were gathering dust. The Elf pulled her hood down,
running her fingers through her whitened locks and messed them
up a little, thinking.
Fighting the Rot after all of this was basically
impossible. No one would ally themselves with her after the last
attempted rebellion. What else could she do? She was known in
Stormwind already. Being a poet didn't work out. They would get
too easily to her if she stays. Silvermoon held nothing but
bitter memories of times lost, opportunities thrown away and
horrible decisions that haunt the future and present, swallowing
all hope in it's ever hungry maw. Perhaps Orgrimmar held new
chances? She knew she needed to lay low. That is all she could
do.
The Elf picked up her book, where all of her past
contracts were crammed, flipping through them idly while
allowing thoughts to swarm through her head. As much as
Stormwind was not the place of a child of blood, Valtroiss
couldn't deny that she enjoyed her stay here more than in any
other city. Perhaps it was just the poems she wrote for a few
silvers that brought her joy. Maybe it was the people.
Certainly, she would miss them. Perhaps in another life, she
will be allowed to revisit without endangering them. Even if,
all they knew was a High Elf, an illusion of herself. All but
two people knew what and who she really was for so many months
spent in the Alliance capital.
She raised an eyebrow as a few months old paper came to
hand, signed by some people called Flower and Stone, the third
name being smudged by water. A scoff escaped her lips, thinking
about the whole charade.
Turning the chair around, Valtroiss looked out of the window,
gazing upon the darkened by night alleys of the Mage Quarter,
biting the inside of her cheek while contemplating. As much as
their intelligence and communication was laughable and the
execution questionable, she couldn't deny that they proved to be
useful. She paid them to empty out the warehouse, and so they
did. Their ranks seemed to hold enough people to perhaps allow
herself to get lost in them. New name, new identity, new
purpose, new contacts. Who would ever think to look for her in
some lowly thieving, mercenary group? Perhaps, it was the best
cover for now. The best plan to lay low.
Rolling the scroll, Valtroiss stood up and headed to the
exit of the building. It would be easier to not say farewell.
He'd understand. She could always write to him later. She
sighed.
For now, the Elf needed to summon long forgotten
memories in order to remember the faces of the people she so
long ago asked for help. A crippled orc, a sleazy Blood Elf, a
tall and brooding Nightborne and another Orc. How hard could it
be to find such lot in Orgrimmar?
1.Why does she want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOC, why do you want to join?)
The reasoning of why she wants to join lies above. She
needs to lay low. Generally, Valtroiss could probably get a
better gig than some criminal gang but she isn't interested in
money, wishing to rather stay low and take simple pleasures in
life and adventure with enjoyable people.
As for OOC, I do not find my current character in the
guild enjoyable as I have told Fade. ): Any character but my
main, Val, feels like an alt, a way to spend my time during
downtime on my rogue. But, the guild and the people in it are
really awesome and honestly the best guild I have ever been in
and would hate to abandon it. Even if the god forsaken Belf cap
is so ever present. *sigh*
2.What would their nickname be?
Uhmmmm... Is Poison taken? Oooor... Scar? She has a lot of
scars? Perhaps Fade will come with something witty this time as
well.
3. How powerful is your character?
This question will need a little more explanation. I have
done a looooot of bubble RP on her, for basically three years.
She was the leader of an underground bandit empire in this said
bubble RP, which some might see as powerful even if she has
stripped herself off all of her previous titles. Val also liked,
and still likes, to inflate her own ego, by calling herself
"Leading Toxicologist of Silvermoon and Dalaran", "Poison
Mistress", "Bandit Queen" and that kind of jazz. But spoiler:
she's not. As a toxicologist, this Elf is about average. Not
horrible but not the queen of poisons either, as much as she
might insist she is.
But the thing with playing a toxicologist is, some see
poisons in RP, especially combat RP, a little overpowered. A
poison could outright kill a character with ease. To combat
this, I usually say that she carries on her only basic slowing,
paralyzing and this kind of vials with her. Unless she knows
well in advance (months, as I assume powerful potions would
take to be brewed) that she is going to get ambushed, she won't
just carry deadly poisons with her.
Without her potions though, she is rather weak. Val has a
good set of leather armor, sturdy, fancy and all, but how much
can it really help in combat? Not quite a lot. She relies on
dodging but doesn't have endless stamina and all. If you were to
take her poisons, she is but a Sin'dorei woman with basic stabby
stabby skills.
So in all, I would say she isn't OP, but it is a little to
the interpretation. Mostly though, she is all bark and little to
no bite.
4.What's her background like?
As previously mentioned, I have played out most of her
backstory in actual RP, alas, bubble RP. It is all a very
complicated web of drama and unfortunate events. In short, she
was raised in an orphanage and later was taken as an apprentice
to a toxicologist in Murder Row. Once he died, of unknown causes
(*cough cough*), she moved on and tried to learn more,
eventually landing in Ravenholdt. She was kicked out from there
though due to some quarrels and was mostly to herself. Being of
a rather shady background, the Elf ventured into the Underbelly,
where she found a criminal gang called the Blood Rot, which she
joined and in the course of many years, ended up almost leading,
being the left hand of it the leader.
But after a sort of wake up call, Val was woken up from her
power hunt and stripped herself suddenly of all titles, fleeing
in Stormwind where she tried to pose as a High Elf using an
illusion. Earning her living out of writing poems for people and
enjoying the simple lifestyle didn't last long though as her
past caught up to her since she didn't quite cease her criminal
background. Now, she is once more in the search for a fresh
start.
5.How consistent is your character with following the lore?
I would say pretty consistent. The canon lore is to be
held as law, yet in my opinion, where it is lacking, free
logical interpretation is allowed.
6."Are you a killer, son/lass?"
She has killed in the past but only because she needed to,
mostly to obtain power. She does regret it now and abstains from
it if possible.
7.How do you feel about consequences in RP?
Actions have consequences and I never back down from
playing them out, as dull and horrible they might be on the
character. It's what makes RP feel fun and engaging, even
adrenaline pumping when the risk of being caught is there.
8.Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
She is a toxicologist. So, poisons and potions. Apart from
that, she is great at talking her way out of trouble through
charm. She knows what she has and how to use it well, knowing
her weaknesses and making sure to never highlight them.
Generally, the Elf is good at distracting, avoiding fights and
getting the enemy on her side, wishing to avoid combat as much
as possible since it is not her forte.
9.What's your activity like?
On this character, very good. Online most of the time. Have
had her for ages and haven't gotten bored of her one single day
and especially with the summer holiday coming up, I got
pleeeeenty of free time to empty pockets and "borrow" goods.
So, I hope this application has won the favor of the officers
over in allowing me to join the most private Blood Elf club when
the spots open, which I await eagerly! o/
EDIT: Reread this and wanted to clarify a little. She wouldn't
just use the guild for a few months and then dash. Mostly, I
couldn't do that OOC without feeling absolutely horrible and
secondly, it is the best option for her. The other options are
to find a treasure hunting/ adventure guild of sorts. But she
still relies on poisons and the use of such is probably going to
raise a few eyebrows in some neutral/ lawful guild. That, and
such organisations usually seek glory and gold, things she tries
to stay well away from. And, after all, she still gets a kick
out of emptying people's pockets without them even noticing it.
It makes sense for her to wish to keep a shady, against the law
lifestyle, as she has for all of her life.

Thanks for writing the application and for your patience for a
response!
The character may be given quite a bit of questioning IC, but
due to that, I'd like to go further into the interview. I feel
this character needs a real judge through roleplay, (one of the
reasons because "She wouldn't just use the guild for a few
months and then dash" - as Sixty won't know that IC, as well as
an abundance of other questions probably on Sixty's mind. But if
Val finds and of Sixty's demands agreeable and them for she, I'm
sure it will go well.
Approved!
Ps. You can count on me to find a better nickname than "Twig"
(but no promises)
