Application: Chiel Nightfall
By: Chiel Date: March 21, 2018, 10:49 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I'm all prepared to fail this one, with her being Sin'dorei -
but I'd rather apply than not.
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOC, why do you want to join?)
ICly, Chiel's been known to deal with the shadier individuals,
with direct ties to the underworld from her past. She's friends
with some Thievers - though she still doesn't know of the Sixty
Thieves existence, which could cause some issues with getting
her in IC, though I doubt it would be too much of a problem.
She's had links in with animal theft, something she used to do
quite a bit of and still would if the circumstances were right
for it. Her main drive is the protection of animals, and
stealing from those who treat them badly is her forte. There've
been incidents that have made her less willing to do such, but
with some training, she'd be well into doing it again.
OOCly, I love you guys, and your guild. I'm friends with a lot
of you, and you look like you have a lot of fun all the time. If
I fail on Chiel - you'll be damned sure I'll be trying to throw
a suitable alt in here in the future. It's just a shame most of
my characters are the typical "good folk" that wouldn't really
have it in them to steal. It's tough finding the time to even RP
these alts, though, so no guarantees on alt-throwing for any of
the foreseeable future.
- What would their nickname be?
She's already undertaken 'Corvus' for something shady, so to not
mix the two worlds, we'll go with 'Canis'. It fits her overall
animals theme, and in many ways, she's like a wolf.
- How powerful is your character?
Fairly underpowered. My main concept was to make a character
that had some basic skills and not much else and to see where
the story takes her. Though she's experienced magic, she can't
use it, and it's purely knowledge based - and she's still
learning with swords and bows, though she can hit the mark often
on a bow, getting a headshot or neck strike is much more
difficult. She's still developing her muscles. As for hand to
hand combat, she can take down a young, incredibly inexperienced
male Sin'dorei - but pit her against one who's typically good
with hand to hand combat and she'll flounder.
- What's her/his background like?
Rather than fill this with about twenty paragraphs, I'll attempt
to keep it short and sweet. My fear amongst other things is that
she may in fact be too developed for this guild, but we'll see
how this goes. Extra information can be found on her Argent
Archives page -
HTML https://www.argentarchives.org/node/196016.
When first created and flung into the world of Argent Dawn, I
had her as a petty animal merchant thief, who stole from those
undeserving of animals to then sell on and be cared for
properly. Her past was littered with underworld dealings - with
her parents, or rather simply her father, falling into fel
corruption and taking the family pets to then be duelled and
fought against each other for sport and money. She grew older
and, though it took a while to gain her courage, stole the
majority of her parents animals and money and fled to Booty Bay.
Since then, she's grown a lot. She started her own business,
"Shamsana Animals and Services", which was later renamed to
"Shamsana Pet Services" (for the most fact that I made it a
Guild, and the first name just... didn't fit). It's a business
that, although she's made it much of a solo venture now, she'd
like to continue. Though it used to be travelling, she's
stationed outside of the Orgrimmar gates now. She's obtained
many animals for customers and tended to those that may be sick
and poorly. I'd rather not give away too much, but with BFA
coming out and neutralities being questioned, hers is as well.
She'd like to be entirely neutral with the Alliance - but such
is almost impossible. Even that only stems down to the coin side
of things, rather than anything else.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
I try to stick with it as best as physically possible,
contributing to debates on lore topics and on occasion grasping
at whatever I can get to fit in with lore as best as I can. Such
is not possible in some aspects where Blizzard simply refuses to
adhere to specific topics and give us clear and concise
information (especially pertaining to that of magic and
Sin'dorei ages - don't get me started), yet where possible, I
try my damned best.
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
She's killed a specific IC character before in a certain event
that was dubbed the 'retcon shit-show', but as its name, it was
retconned due to a variety of circumstances that were beyond
control. She'd be tempted to for simple revenge purposes, but
it's not in her personality to go on an insane mass murder
killing spree. She's not that kind of a character. She's pretty
easy to convince, though she wouldn't be happy about not
enacting due revenge. Save for that, she's clean of character
death - but has had to kill NPC's in campaigns before now.
There'd have to be a reason for killing for her to want to do
it. I'm aware I'm probably not selling her here, but I'm not
going to skirt around things - honesty is better than not.
- Do you accept "RP-consequences"?
100%. In fact, I'm almost pretty much prepped for Chiel to die
soon - she has her replacement character in the works already.
Though I can't say I'll be happy about having to let her go...
all characters have to die eventually, and all good stories have
to come to an end. Cut her, slash her, tear her to bits - if she
makes it out, she'll be a stronger character for it, and if not?
I'll have my replacements. Call it a ruthless way of development
- it's realistic.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
She tends to animals, it's her sole purpose. This includes herbs
and mixture making - but she's not inherently skilled at that
and runs from a book. She gained an obsession with dragons that
she still has, meaning that over a long period of time and
paying in a token of debt, she was able to actually learn
Draconic. She's also begun to study Zandali as a tribute to a
dead friend of hers who started her business with her, and like
most Sin'dorei, knows Common fluently - though actually never
used to, surprisingly. You could call her a linguist in learning
for those traits alone. Save for that... she collects tea, and
always wants more. She's currently run up a collection of twenty
eight, only eight of which haven't been IC made.
- What's your activity like?
I'm on pretty much every day. I have no life. [s]H e l p m
e[/s].
That's about it. As said, I'm prepared for no acceptance here -
but that doesn't mean you won't see me around!

Hi there, thank you so much for putting this much effort into
the application, was great fun to read!
Sadly our elf cap is already over the limit after returning
members pushed the number up even more, so I at least can't
approve for another to join without destroying our attempt at
racial equality. When you say that you'd potentially be willing
to have an alt try their luck, I'd be very interested to know
who and what they're like and, can we have them now, pls? :D
What I know for sure is this application is quite a bummer to
turn down. If we had no cap, I'd be willing to test Chiel
despite not being very acquaint in the ways of no-good greedy
theft. I really hope that you feel inspired for a more thuggish
alt that we can accept with open arms, and no racial barrier.
Again, thanks a lot for writing it. Even if it means a no on
Chiel, officers and I are certainly happy with your OOC attitude
towards things, and the guild. It means a lot.

Thanks for such a quick response - that was unexpected!
I understand the Sin'dorei cap, and take no offence to such at
all. Unfortunately, as harshly judged as this may make me - most
of my fully fledged characters -are- Sin'dorei, and not the
types that'd be thieves. It's the main reason why when Chiel
dies, I'll be changing her to a Pandaren. There's one character
I can think of that I have now that may be able to join at some
point (Rakogara, orc) but she was made solely for a campaign and
has yet to be cleared from that. Uncle knows more, it's his
campaign. I can't justify playing her outside of it until she
either dies or gets freed up from it. The rest are all concepts
that I have yet to create in character form, so unless you'd be
happy to have a low level, I've a Goblin concept that needs
working and also a Troll concept!

Aye. I also noted that your app is not only thorough but
strikingly honest. It's something I appreciate very much.
My issue is that the thieves truly are thieves. They come in
differing shapes and sizes, but most of them are unscrupulous
bastards who love to accumulate wealth and cause trouble. Since
I don't feel that your character fits into those themes, my
opinion mirrors that of Fade's by saying we'd love to see you
applying with a character more fitting for our merry crew.
If you regardless feel that you'd like to RP Chiel's descend
into the underworld, I would suggest trying to apply into the
Oath of Silver. They're a decent lot.
---
Also. We actually have no necessity for you to be of high level.
90% of thief RP happens on the vanilla continents so especially
with the new zone scaling your character need not be of
extraordinary level. Mine for instance, has been lvl 59 for
almost a decade.

Thank you too for the quick response! I'm glad there's no hard
feelings - there certainly doesn't intend to be any, so I'm very
happy that you have some potential char options!
The main things we ask for in a character are a desire to play,
and the profession of a thief (however light or heavy that may
be). There is no rush, of course, so I won't say "oh you should
do this or that", but if you DID want to discuss potential
alternatives, don't hesitate contacting an officer in-game for
some idea sharing! (incl. Laerynna (or Prixxi), Thalindor (or
Rasavo), Morduas, Erthamar, Beladun, Reznick, Einsam.
As long as there's a desire to RP, low level doesn't matter, as
Shadow said above!
I'm excited for a pandaren/orc/troll/goblin/other to potentially
take the leap to join :D

I will update this with recent and much more valid info: you are
now accepted due to the elf cap lowering and you being first
ushered in! Due to this you will be first intended to be invited
before other applicants. See you in game!
