Application: Archibald Weaver
By: ArchibaldWeaver Date: February 9, 2018, 10:43 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello there!
After some contemplation and hearing nothing but good things
about you and your (supposedly fine!) guild I decided to brave
the application process in hopes of securing a place in your
gathering of misfits. The character in question is called
Archibald Weaver, a forsaken man who's seen better days.
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
Archibald has been on his own ever since him joining the ranks
of the undead way back, when the "plague" was past its initial
crushing spread, he's been wandering the roads of Kalimdor,
Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend and even Pandaria over the years and
never managed to fit in with the various groups he encountered,
as most of them tend to be well settled in a certain location
and even more tend to turn him away when he does try to
integrate, mostly due to his... Well, state. By joining the
Thieves he's heard so much about he's hoping these are the
people who won't judge and will take him in as one of their own,
as a family is the one thing he has been subconsciously longing
for ever since he passed from one life into another. (As for the
OOC reason: I've heard nothing but good things about the guild
and I've seen a number of interactions involving the Thieves and
I can't be nothing but giddy for the chance to join in on the
fun.)
- What would their nickname be?
As for his nickname I'll be honest and say that I have no clue.
None whatsoever. I've given it some thought and the only thing I
can think off is that it'll have to be something relating to
his.. Omnipresent body-odor.
- How powerful is your character?
Not powerfull at all. In it's core, the character isn't centered
around violence, and would rather flee or reason than lift a
finger, likely due to his previous life still holding some kind
of power over his actions today. He holds no magical powers in
reserve and the only thing that could be considered powerful is
his adequate knowledge of treating wounds and providing a lovely
meal for whoever is there to enjoy it.
- What's her/his background like?
Archibald grew up in a family of tailors, weavers, and shepherds
in a very small rural town in former Lordaeron. When it was time
to start working to aid the little community he chose to work
for the local church/chapel and perform repairs as well as
assist the clergy in visitations to the sick/elderly/poor or
otherwise needy. This is where he picked up the basis of his
medical and culinary knowledge. He did his work without a reason
to complain and for many years before the village, like many
others became endangered by the marching scourge and the plague
in tow. With his family long since dead, his parents being
elderly and at the end of their lives died some years ago, one
not too long after the other and with the village all but
deserted he too took the long road to safety and wandered away
from the danger, into the neighboring highlands and beyond.
After wandering for many years, helping where he could and
earning some coin when offered. After a while, he had the strong
urge and burning desire to return home and gather some of the
things he left behind so long ago, some of them too cumbersome
to take initially. He rented a wagon and an old horse and set
out. On the way he met a number of travelers urging him caution
on his journey and wishing him the best of luck in those
forsaken lands and one night, as he sat by his meager fire
enjoying his supper another band of rugged wanderers joined him
there, telling tales of their journeys and inquiring about his.
Naive as he was, he told them of his intentions and the work
he'd done before, including the meager savings that would have
to last him for quite a while. During the night as he was tucked
into an old ragged bedroll, the band jumped him and without much
chance to defend himself, beat and robbed him of all he had
amassed over the years, including his shoes and worst of all,
his means of transportation. He faded out of unconsciousness,
the sun was just about to rise and with significant effort, he
pulled himself to his feet, staggering off in the direction he
came from. Every inch of his body complained and his vision,
blurry from the blows to his head, did not warn him about the
danger that awaited him in the brush. Before he knew what was
happened, a rabid bear crashed out of the brush and with one
might swipe of its giant paw knocked him onto the rock-laden
road, where his head crashed into one of the aforementioned
boulders, knocking him out once more. This time, this meant his
end. An end to the life he'd known anyway.
The next thing he remembers is the flickering of candlelight,
the flash of a needle and above all a numbness in his entire
body. His memories nothing but a vague recollection of equally
vague visages and names that meant little to Archibald.
Surrounding him were several humanoid figures, busy with sewing
tools and bonesaws, nails and hammers, in a room lit only by a
few candles and the shadow of a massive creature just outside of
the arching doorway.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
I try to be as consistent as I can be. Ofcourse there is a
measure of creative liberty in all things, as long as it isn't
breaking the main constructs upon which the lore rests.
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
Not in the slightest. He has never, and if he can help it, will
never kill or be the cause of someone's death. He'd rather help
his worst enemy who's bleeding out than see him pass on.
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
I'll stick with a simple "yes".
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
As mentioned before he has "some" proficiency in medicine and
cooking, he's not the world's best surgeon, but he makes due
given the right tools. As for a character trait, he is
everything but selfish. He'd risk his being for those he
considers close friends.
- What's your activity like?
Due to work this'll vary between weeks but I intend to spend at
least two or three days actively rp'ing per week.
And that seems about it, I'd be more than happy to answer any
questions you might have and clarify some things unclear to you
in any way, just ask!
Have a good one,
Archie.

Hi, thanks for writing this application!
I'm excited to meet your char. Only nicknames I can think of are
"Hobo" and "Stench". Hopefully you get to use them as I approve.
Wait to see what the other officers think :D

Hello there, and thank you for taking the time to write an
application!
Looking solid! Archibald seems to have an interesting character
concept, and also something that we don't currently have.
Doctors and such are in short supply, and even though people
would certainly have some doubts about a dead-man tending to
their wounds and sicknesses (or cooking for them, for that
matter), I'm sure it is something that the Thieves could grow to
accept given enough time.
Only thing I'm left pondering about is whether he'd be able to
adapt to the life of a criminal, "good-hearted" as he appears to
be, but that is something that can be left to be found out ICly!
Approved!

Hi! Enjoyed reading the application and the history! I have the
same question as Tact, but that can indeed be answered in the IC
interview. Looking forward to see how he will develop into with
our lot!
