Application: Lokesh the "Lapdog"
By: Lokesh Date: September 4, 2017, 10:41 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Need a guard dog?
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
Having just disembarked the Maiden's Fancy, Lokesh found himself
in Booty Bay seeking solace from the scorn and judgement of his
fellow orcs back in Kalimdor.
While pulling a baitless fishing line on a hungry stomach, a
goblin (Prixxi) approached him. After a brief back-and-forth,
she informed him of a job opportunity as "hired muscle" in an
organization of which she was a member. Eager to fill his purse
and belly, Lokesh met with her associates and now waits for
further events to unfold.
OOC: Mostly sheer curiosity. The above was entirely unplanned
and a result of random RP. One thing led to another and now I'm
here. I have no expectations, take it or leave it, just curious
to see where this goes. :)
- What would their nickname be?
"Lap Dog" or "Lapdog" (whichever you prefer) would be desirable,
since he has already been branded as such in Orgrimmar. It is
partially based on previous IC events.
- How powerful is your character?
He has the standard combat experience of a nameless grunt of the
Horde during its various wars since its arrival on Azeroth. His
in-game class is Rogue, though I imagine him as a standard
fighter who occasionally stoops down to dirty tricks and a
stealthy approach, maybe moreso than your average orc.
- What's her/his background like?
Recent events:
Lokesh hit hard times after having stood on the wrong side of
history. During the Darkspear Rebellion, he conspired with
Kor'kron forces and operated behind enemy lines under the
disguise of a rebel fighter. After Orgrimmar was sacked, he
faced many criminal charges and punishment was due. His people
branded him "Lapdog", aimed at his blind loyalty to Garrosh's
war-machine, the dog who never questions the master who pulls
its chain.
Lokesh was imprisoned and awaited execution, until an unexpected
Pandaren witness spoke up in his defense. The Pandaren put forth
a compelling case, even though Lokesh caused serious hurdles for
the Darkspear Rebellion, his saving grace was that he did not
spill a single drop of blood of any Horde member during the
conflict. And so, he was sent out to Pandaria with a small group
of fellow convicts, sentenced to labor under close supervision
with the goal of renewing ties with the Pandaren public.
Now years later, with the Legion crisis and the world in chaos,
Lokesh is free at last. Though still disgraced by his people as
the "Lapdog", a name he carries with both shame and pride;
knowing he stood on the wrong side of history, but proud he
stood with his Warchief to the end.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
As a Warcraft fan since childhood, I try to be as consistent as
I can... to the best of my knowledge. ;)
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
Lokesh has at least the minimum killcount that comes with being
a orc veteran of the Horde's numerious wars. Maybe a dozen
Alliance heads plus some lowly mongrels such as; quilboars,
centaurs, etc... under his belt?
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
Relating to the previous question: never have I killed a player
character nor do I plan to, unless with some extensive planning
and a green light from everyone involved.
I expect the same for myself. Otherwise: yes! My character is
what he is mostly due to 'RP-consequences'.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
Experienced fighter. Connoisseur of venoms and poisons. Limited
experience in covert operations, military sabotage and
smuggling. Heavy drinker. Pickpocketing would definitely -not-
be one of his strong suits
- What's your activity like?
Depends on the season and IRL circumstances. I'm pertty active
when I'm active, and I'm pretty not when I'm not... if that
makes sense. Currently I'm on a relatively active streak.
Forewarning: I'm a slow typer, prone to typos, english is not my
first language and I can be pretty hesitant under pressure.

Hey, thanks a lot for taking the time to write this app!
On an IC standing, Sixty Thieves ARE looking to expand their
member-base, including "muscle" as Prixxi advertised to Lokesh
ICly.
I imagine very little was exposed to Lokesh about the ins and
outs of Sixty Thieves - some things he may realise he disagrees
with - but I suppose that is to be found in RP.
I will warn one thing OOCly though: During an interview, the
leaders will tell Lokesh that once you join, you can't leave.
This is half true. On an IC p.o.v. most people leave either
through exile or secrecy, but this by no means limits you OOCly,
as you probably already knew - if you wanna leave, you can, we
just like to 'scare' people ICly into staying!

Hello there, and thanks for applying!
Your character concept looks simple and solid enough for a gang
of thieves; a fellow outcast with few people and places to turn
to. What comes to activity, we're (of course) entirely fine with
people needing time off the game every now and then, though we
ask to be informed either in-game or via these forums prior to
longer absences!
I've no questions that can't wait until getting in touch
in-game!
Approved.

You had me at "Lapdog".
A well-rounded application and character that gives us plenty to
work with and much to look forward to. Thank you.
The only thing I'm going to bring up here is the nickname.
Though you're welcome to go by as many titles as you like, the
nickname you use within the gang needs to have a clean slate
so-to-speak. If Lapdog is already known around Org we don't
want it within the gang - from an IC perspective.
Would you be willing to suggest a few other options or perhaps
see is anything comes up during your initiation RP with the
gang?
Other than that, I wholeheartedly approve of this app!
Poppet.

Approved and accepted! Whisper Thalindor, Laerynna, Fraylee,
Reznick or Beladun in-game to arrange an IC interview!
