Application: Skidd Saltfuse
By: Skidd Date: July 8, 2017, 12:26 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
ICly: First and foremost, Skidd badly needs protection in order
to stay alive while doing his work. Along with this, the myriads
of attempts he's made at working alone have all failed. This has
lead him to seek out an already established group of thieves in
order to learn what they do differently, as well as working
alongside them.
OOCly: I read about your guild on the Argent Dawn forums and
found my interest piqued. While I'm new at horde RP, I have some
experience with criminal RP guilds and find that particular type
to be great!
- What would their nickname be?
"Sketch"
- How powerful is your character?
Not powerful at all. He's a tiny goblin and lacks both the
necessary knowledge as well as physical strength that a fighter
has.
- What's her/his background like?
Growing up in Kezan, Skidd wanted to be either an alchemist or
engineer. Unfortunately for him, he was completely incompetent
when it came to both. While having a quick wit, whatever process
found place inside his head was a chaotic mess. Focusing on
complex stuff such as the two aforementioned professions was
just too difficult. However, his fast way of thinking proved to
be beneficial when it came to selling whatever useless gadget or
elixir he'd made. Skidd was able to, through his silver tongue,
to fool even the cleverest of goblins. Skidd's attempts at
making actual items were now replaced by replicating them. Why
waste time creating a worthless health potion when he could just
pour some dye into water? This particular talent is also what
ensured his departure from Kezan, and ultimately, his arrival in
Durotar. Since then, he's been working as a con artist as well
as pickpocket, although he hasn't really been able to gain a
foothold and establish himself in any way.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
Pretty consistent, I believe.
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
Not unless cornered and left no other choice. With that being
said, a tiny and slender goblin like him stands no chance in
such a scenario.
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
Yes.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
A minor talent when it comes to forging. Proficient at lying and
acting like a salesman.
- What's your activity like?
I consider myself pretty active. I value my social life over
WoW, but if nothing is in the way then I'm usually RPing or at
least online!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to write an application!
I don't have any questions that come to mind, "Sketch" seems to
suit Sixty Thieves well and the gang will no doubt benefit him
in return.

I do not have any character-wise questions, as from what I read,
it sounds like a decent character. Simple characters are nice.
What I wonder most is, are you a silver tongue? There is nothing
wrong to have a character who is one, but I've witnessed a few
times where people say that their character is one, but is
unable to do it, because they themself is not one. I've not seen
you RP at all, so I can not really make any judgement of it.
I'm not here to slap your wrist or tell you to redo the
character, but this guild do interact with actual players
outside the guild, where we pickpock, sell and con them. Even
though the character is one by paper, it is sometimes better to
not proclaim to be one before it actually shows to be the fact.
Can't really call this a warning, but something to be aware of
instead.
But outside of that, this character sounds all good and dandy to
me.

That's a really good point and I hadn't thought of it that way
before.
English isn't actually my first language, which obviously
affects my overall proficiency in using it. The way I actually
do the whole silver tongue thing, at least with my characters,
is that I allow them to have a broader understanding rhetorics
compared to other characters. Skidd, for example, is a goblin
and speaks the goblin lingo. In spite of that, he can
theoretically employ the vocabulary of an upper class member of
society if necessary.
With that being said, I do realize that my use of the term
"silver tongue" was a bit misleading in this case.

So come to us in your time of need have you? How lovely.
It's a solid app and displays a good understanding of the whole
Goblin concept already so I'm pretty ok with hopping straight
over to an interview phase.
We already got some damn fine Goblins around here who are versed
in both tinkering and sales so Skidd will have plenty to work
(or compete) with if he joins up and the more creative skill
sets the better really.
We'll be running our own workshop at this rate too.
Thank you for all the interest and hope you enjoy your stay on
the Horde side and with the Sixty! Now go seek an officer at
your earliest convenience and try out that silver tongue of
yours - That being said~ Do look for Fraylee wont you~
