Application: Riley Thornton
By: Fraylee Date: May 16, 2017, 9:47 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Let only the song of your own breath serenade the performer as
she passes you by. For she, my fellow spectator has none.
Riley Bertha Thornton. Forever 29. Performer.
- Why does she want to join the lowlife criminal gang, Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
Well not really planning ones own demise might leave someone a
little down on their luck, no? Although her death was during
Riley's time as a performer, her act was as much dependant on
her talents as it was her good looks. The fact that the cause of
her death was a knife to the back didn't really encourage her to
return to her troupe either once she had been risen. So
currently Riley has no particular place to call home. Mostly
spending time up on the Zeppelin towers between Tirisfal and
Orgrimmar. Apparently she has a thing for heights.
As for wanting to join you scumbags. Her way of life wasn't
exactly straight forward and although it was honest work as a
performer it all came down to her raw talents bringing in the
coin. Why would thievery be any different? Quick to accept the
fact she is forsaken and pretty much given up on a normal
exsistence she was equally quick to start abusing the talents
that once served her in life - Sneaking into places where she
might find free shelter for the night and stealing as and when
she needed to.
If the gang were to discover her first, a more seasoned thief
might well notice how Riley weaves amoung the crowds and market
stalls, snatching up whatever she gets close to her with
remarkable expertise.
OOCly I'm just looking to introduce some more Forsaken's to the
network as well as another bizzare character concept you'll all
have to endure and help me nurture. As far as guild progression
goes she fits the sneaky sneak roles and doesn't run the risk of
rising too far above her station.
- What would their nickname be?
Hrrmm... "Dolly" or "Silence" something along those lines that
play into the mute Forsaken theme.
- How powerful is your character?
Aside from being really good with knives and unnatrually quiet
at times, nothing that would count her as OP no.
- What's her background like?
Glamorous. The life of a travelling performer visiting far off
lands with a troupe of equally talented and vibrant individuals!
However... That knife in the back during an outfit change one
fateful night did put an end to all that.
Now trapped within her late twenties, Riley remains a capable
woman with numerous talents aquired over the years - Though
given current circumstances her life isn't really going anywhere
at the moment.
Childhood relatively normal. Parents were also travelling
entertainers. Father a Strong Man. Mother a Contortionist and
Snake charmer. She was exposed to many of Azeroth's races at an
early age making her a very accepting and open child rarely
startled by much. Often considered very mature and even brave
for her young age at the time. Life was just always good to
Riley. Even her parents got to retire early without a single
tragedy and she went on to get her own act in the show. Why
anyone would want her dead is quite the murder mystery and one
still unsolved to this day.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
Thoroughly enjoying the Forsaken lore I've been reading and
watching online recently so I'll try to honor it as best I can
eh.
- "Are you a killer, lass?"
A "maybe" would be fitting here, given Riley's unclassified
nature. She'll never strike you as the aggressive type though,
ever. So that's pretty reassuring.
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
Yes. Losing a limb or two at some point might be fun or
generally creeping out her would-be captors or interrogators.
- Any specialities she has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
She's mute. Yup. Don't expect any elaborate conversation
out of her or even the best of company. Riley and her many
talents will just contribute to any event or casual situation in
their own special way.
She's like really reeeaaally good with knives. Be it a kind of
party trick, or sinking one into the back of a fleeing Gnome's
neck at thirteen yards or just twiddling a couple between her
fingers whenever she gets bored. This is a talent that Riley has
perfected intensely over the majority of life and continues to
do so even in death~
If presented with an instrument there's a fair chance she'll
know how to play it. As the life of a perfomer might also have
taught her.
Expressive. Though not as pretty as she used to be and all out
words, Riley retains the actress' gift of being able to depict
her thoughts and feelings through an extravagant use body
language and facial expressions.
Silent as the grave. A lot of speculation around this one. An
addition to her forsaken curse or just another one of her gifts,
you'll quickly notice or not-not notice how little sound is
actually made when Riley moves. The use of tools, weapons and
pretty much anything designed to make a noise sounds as normal
of course but anything she deliberately makes contact with like
footsteps or climbing a wall for example are rarely if ever
heard.
I cannot stress enough how good she is with knives. Really.
- What's your activity like?
Ask Poppet.
Poppet: "**** off!"
There you go.
Please please please bother me as much as you like about this
application and feel free to hold back any decisions until
you've met Riley. I can only assure you she's as humble as they
come and won't provoke too much controversy within the guild.

A mute might be slightly hard to interview, buuut...
Dolly sounds nice (yes, I'm vouching for the nickname Dolly). I
haven't got many questions as she seems to be a simple thief, an
unexpected(?) one too. I Don't assume her to be the thuggish
sort at least, but I guess we'll see in RP what personality
shines off her.
Approved.

Hello! Well written application, I enjoyed reading it.
I'm very curious how this will look in roleplay! It's nice to
see reliance on expressions and body language. I don't have much
questions myself, other than wondering if she was also mute in
life, but that's more curiosity than relevant for the
application. Hm.. The only question that popped up was her
loyalty for the Banshee queen. As Forsaken are quite the loyal
dogs. Perhaps a thing within her character to go off on her own?

Hello again.
I'll respond to these quickly before this turns into a mystery
even I can't solve.
No she spoke perfectly fine when she was alive. The whole mute
thing came about upon being risen. Whether it's a physical
defect in undeath or a concious choice however I'm undecided but
have reasoning for both. It'll be something to uncover as RP
goes on if that's acceptable?
She certainly isn't greatful to the Banshee Queen for being
risen, as like many others she was risen without any real
consent. She was also very quick to slip away from the military
camp where she had been left so none of that "Seven Kingdoms"
malarky has rubbed off on her.
Humble is still the best way to describe her really but it
shouldn't take people long to see how her talents could benefit
the guild with the right encouragement. Not thuggish in any way
no but once again, pay attention to how well she handles those
knives and you can damn well imagine what that'll look like on a
bad day.
Not to degrade her but best way to put it is - given her current
state you can kind of see her as a discarded tool that needs a
good home really.

Yeah, figure the source of muteness through rp, that'd make
sense to me! Especially on background things if unsure about
them.
Seems I'm a bit stuck in the mindset of the old generation of
Forsaken who were risen by the LK and then followed Sylvanas as
their saviour, oops! But now I have a more clear picture of her
character and how she turned away from undead society and
wandering into a gang ;D
Appproved!
