Laro's application
By: Laro Date: November 6, 2016, 4:42 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello!
My name’s Andrey, I’m 28, Russian. I used to be a member of this
guild a very long time ago, back when it was on DBH. A took a
very long break from WoW but now, as I am active again, I’d love
to try and re-join the 60X. My old character’s name was Acrado,
Forsaken back-alley surgeon by the nick-name of ‘Stitch’. Hello
to all the old-timers that would remember me ^^!
Here I’d like to introduce my current character, Laro, using the
template from a pinned forum thread:
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
Laro –is- a lowlife. His motives are very simple: he wants gold
and he doesn’t want an honest job. He is also bald enough to
openly say so. He is an embittered failure, an addict and a
hotshot raider. The slums are his natural habitat.
- What would their nickname be?
‘Slug’
- How powerful is your character?
Laro is fierce but nowhere near skillful. He doesn’t do martial
arts, he is not a trained fencer. He is a decent shot, but
that’s only when he is sober, which is pretty much never. He
will –always- fight due to his recklessness. I despise
emotefights which aren’t pre-arranged, so most of the time I
concede and Laro gets beaten up, injured, locked up or he flees.
Laro’s only real weapon is intimidation. As a seasoned raider I
imagine him to be rather convincing with his threats of
violence. However, in my experience, it never works on most RP
characters I got to play with.
- What's her/his background like?
Laro is a Silvermoon Army deserter, considered missing in
action. His life goes downhill from there on – crime, addiction
and moral degradation. His crime record is impressive: theft,
drug possession and peddling, burglaries, extortion, armed raids
and assaults, murders. Laro’s family perishes with the fall of
Silvermoon and he abandons his former name, Refian Astora, for a
new one he makes up for himself, in order to start a new life in
the rebuilding city. But alas, his crime record is extended,
several arrests take palce followed by two exiles some of which
he spends in Orgrimmar. After a particulary messy encounter he
finds himself on an operating table of a back-alley surgeon who
calls himself ‘Stitch’, a former member of Sixty Thieves.
Several weeks ago Laro robs an enchanter’s stall in Silvermoon,
commits a murder and is forced to lay low in Orgrimmar.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
I roleplay certain mixtures and proportion of enchanting dust as
drugs. In certain scenarios I allow those to affect none-blood
elves, most of the time it’s just ill-used enchanting materials.
- "Are you a killer, son/lass?"
There are two answers to this question:
a) Laro has killed before, this moral threshold’s been broken
long ago. He is very violent and hotheaded, most of his murders
are accidental. However, he - will – pull the trigger if he is
given the opportunity to do so. If asked the question directly,
he’d, of course, say that he isn’t.
b) I do not roleplay to murder other characters. If such thing
happens I make sure to talk this through with the character
owner making sure they are a 100% cool with the situation. Even
without an OOC discussion I make it as easy as possible to
disrupt Laro’s action or even ask for it myself via an OOC
whisper. But I do like killing NPC characters.
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
Yes. The grounding for character death must be thoroughly
discussed in OOC.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
Laro is a crazy mofo. He screws everything up, he is a bad
teamplayer. He gets out of temper in a blink of an eye. He is
reckless and fearless. He swears -a lot-.
But.
This description does sound very generic and fits most crap
underdeveloped god characters. Laro isn’t like that. I RP fear
of death, impulsiveness, greed and envy. Laro is not very bright
but he respects the facts of life and death and he wants to
live.
He has no skills. He says he can do anything, but that’s not
true. He sucks.
- What's your activity like?
I play most evenings from around 9 PM server time.
In conclusion I’d like to say that I understand that the
character format is –not- exactly what you are looking for.
However, I like to believe that I am a considerate roleplayer
which strives for everyone to enjoy the RP I take part in, and
therefore will make a good asset to the guild. I can see how
strict the rules of application are and would understand a
rejection.
I little advertisement which could also describe my style of RP,
an official forum thread for a little RP project that I used to
run some time ago. The thread is also followed by some very
constructive debate which covers most of the details:

Will Laro as a character be a good asset? No, of course not. But
it certainly would be fun.

Hey, thanks for taking time to write the app!
I.. remmeber you... you- almost shot my goblin - and shot my
goblin's brother!
*stamps application with DENIED*
...
Alright, maybe not - the app was nice to read :D enough to make
me approve it. Though speaking of the above, if during the
interview someone in the guild who ICly sees you spitefully pops
around, it may be harder to convince the gang you're worth their
time. But hey, that may just make the RP more interesting, huh?

Hey there and thank you for applying! And apologies for not
responding before.
The application is very thoroughly and thoughtfully made, and
gives a good overview of the character. There is nothing out of
place application-wise. The character itself may be problematic
for the guild, though, for the plenty reasons you even stated
yourself in the application. Impulsive actions that go against
the Thief's Code will lead into consequences. Minor physical
assaults can be tolerated in rare and small amounts (although
even those would lead into a punishment of some kind), but
attempts to seriously or even fatally harm another member will
likely take a character down a hole they won't ever arise from -
unless of course they manage to escape "justice" in which case a
hunt can be expected. Just something to keep in mind and to be
prepared for!
I'm sure the character would bring colour to the guild, and if
you're alright with what was stated above (which you seem to
be), then I'm giving this my approval. However, whether your
character manages to convince the leaders ICly is a different
matter, so no promises! There should be interesting RP
regardless of the outcome.

EDIT: And an oldie, yey! I don't -think- I ever got the chance
to roleplay with your old thief (although I'm certainly familiar
with the name), but it's always great to see old members
returning!

Hello, hello!
First of all, thanks for applying! It's always nice to see more
people interested in the guild.
The app itself was very thorough and informative. I have seen
the character in-game and even had a little interaction, on an
alt of mine, he certainly is a hothead and I love that you stick
to his hothead-jig. He certainly has potential but one question
arises. How will he deal with the clear hierarchy there is
within' the gang? Would he be able to adjust?
Apart from that, I'm giving you a big and well earned: Approved!
Hope to see you IC soon!

I'm not sorry for throwing that knee-cap at you, or have that
grunt assault you.
For me Laro is somewhat interesting character and I do enjoy the
brutal honesty of his "uselessness" You are not really trying to
sugercoat this character at all, which I really appreciated.
Like the rest, I'm curious how he will be in the gang with such
hot-temper and what kind of trouble he might cause, but I'm all
up for this ride as it might be oocly fun.
It is rare to see criminals that actually are scums, personality
and in economic, so this is a bit refreshing.
I just hope you are prepared for what might happend if Laro
becomes a bit trigger-fingered within the gang.
I approve this app. Let us just hope it gets approved icly.

Hello and Thank you!
Pretty much going with everything Einsam said.
Your character makes for a refreshing concept and directly will
create a challenge for the guild, given your previous run-ins
with us. How far Laro will progress is hard to say however but I
admire those who stick to their characters guns and are not out
to impress or befriend the whole of Azeroth! I personally
welcome any and all troublemakers and your app certainly paints
the perfect picture of one. Covers just about everything we need
to know.
You've already encountered a few of us ingame, including myself
so I don't think there's any need to assess you too harshly in
that regard either. Just a matter of fixing your IC recruitment
somehow. Pester and insist any of us officers you see here so we
can sort this before you wind up in another cell.
Approved.
Pop.
