Fleetfeather's Application

Tauren Druid of the Talon.
- Why does s/he want to join the lowlife theft gang, the Sixty
Thieves? (And OOCly, why do you want to join?)
“Why would anyone want to throw their lot in with a collection
of miscreants? It boils down to two things, survival and
convenience. Survival in that it is a lot easier to operate when
there are more eyes and less exposed backs. Convenience in that
it allows the coins to gather with a minimal presence. “
[It is an interesting type of guild which fits the roleplay type
I enjoy quite a bit! ]
- What would their nickname be?
Fleet.
Or Talons.
Or any manner of expletives bird.
Probably not the last one.
How powerful is your character?
“I’m quick.”
Fleet had spent a good number of years in Moonglade learning the
traditions associated with the Path of the Talons. Unlike Druids
of the Wild, poor Fleet has only associated himself with one
spirit totem. In this case, that of the Stormhawk. This is not a
combat associated role, this is one based on the gathering of
intel and delivery of messages.
A lot of the nature manipulation that would normally come with
being a Druid has been lost to Fleet. Refusing to return to
Moonglade or taking part in any of the rituals that would help
to refresh his connection with the natural world has blunted his
ability. As a bit of a crutch, Fleet requires on items for even
basic spells.
The two of these that are mostly frequently used are:
The Stormhawk Totem – Always hanging from Fleet’s neck and his
hand is never far away from it. A bit of an addiction, it is
essential for the transformation into a Stormhawk. A process
that he finds incredibly draining.
Frozen Acorn – Currently resting in his stave. Only thing that
allows him to access basic nature spells. Hesitant to use for
fear of breaking it.
“You a killer son/lass?”
“Indirectly.”
“Oh don’t give me that look. I don’t know if I’m responsible for
anything like that. Never shed final blood myself though.”
- What's her/his background like?
“I got a really bad case of hayfever and was so embarrassed that
I was never able to show my face ever again.”
Fleet is my longest running RP character over on Defias
Brotherhood. He was ICly retired at the start of WOTLK and was
out of action for most of the expansions up to WoD.
Originally of the Cliffwalker tribe he spent most of his youth
as a ritual attendant. After much pestering of a small gathering
of Druids that would frequent the site he managed to convince an
eccentric known as Bonkhron to take him to Moonglade. The
teachings of Bonkhron was considered to be insane to downright
heretical depending on who you asked, with an attempt to bridge
the gap between the natural world and the craft of engineering.
In joining him as an apprentice, he gave up his original name
and tribe becoming Brownpaw of the Mistrunners.
Not a patient student he attempted to rush through the trials
required to join the Order of the Claw. He crashed and burned
and was informed that he did not have the patience necessary.
Almost as punishment he was directed towards the Order of Talon
and it was here that Brownpaw began to grow his skill and trade.
The day that he had been granted his title and rights to
consider himself as a fully fledged Druid he headed straight
back to Orgrimmar and signed up to join. A few skirmishes here
and there, somehow not getting shot out of the sky. He
considered himself to be quite the competent messenger!
Then the second scourge invasion began. It was clear in the
aftermatch that the Horde would soon send forces to the
continent of Northrend. Brownpaw joined with some members of his
adopted tribe to make contact with the Taunaka ahead of time.
Skilled in scouting, he was eager to prove his worth.
This did not go as well as planned.
This was quite the terrible idea.
It was here in Northrend amongst the ice and the snow that
Brownpaw would have likely spent the rest of his life, if it
wasn’t for a passing shaman taking a long look at a Stormhawk
perched in a tree and puzzling out that something wasn’t right.
Well, long story short. Seven years as a mindless bird in
Northrend and then suddenly being plunged back into having to
think things through and coming to grips with the passing of
time and loss of companions was not the healthiest thing for a
mind to go through. As a consequence of all this time spent in
one form, his eyes have an unnatural orange tint to them and
quite the addiction to that bird totem spirit had occurred.
He headed back to Moonglade and was recognised as one who had
over-exerted a single form. But at the suggestion of separating
him from his amulet the Tauren straight up bolted, flapping far
far away and intending never to return. Spending some time in
Everlook under the assumption that Druids wouldn’t want to go
out there to bring him back he befriended some Goblins and
traded a few secrets here and there, adopting the pseudonym of
Fleet and plying the skills he had learnt as a Druid of the
Talon to make a few coins and loosen pockets.
Character appearance stuff
Wiry build and a small stature. The excessive slouching and the
general air of frailty surrounding this Tauren suggest that this
isn't a warrior.
Although mostly covered by fabric, the few tufts of exposed skin
reveal small dark brown matted fur the tips of which have tinted
a hint of white. There are other such stains across his outfit,
the dust of chalk and streaks of black powder being the most
common.
As far as physical appearance goes the thing that makes Fleet
stand out would be his eyes, a product of overexertion of one
animal form are a sharp pair of amber eyes. Normally these
remain covered by mask or hood.
Around his neck is a small detailed amulet statuette of a
Stormcrow with two shards of amber embedded as eyes into the
ebony figure. This never strays far from his grip, with his
hands constantly wrapping around the thing and fiddling with it,
almost as a nervous tic.
Fleets armour is a lot more presentable than it used to be. The
occasional tear here and there, but aside from that the robes
looked new. A fairly standard simplistic covering layer that
went atop padded leather, it has already begun to collect
decorative pieces. With several silver sigil plates connecting
around the waist as a belt.
His staff was a bit more elaborate than the rest of his outfit.
Going against the normal tradition of druidic staves, the wooden
backbone of wood had been reinforced with metal with decorative
patterns of feathers wrapping around the gaps of the dark
coloured wood. The very tip held some manner of chill, with
shards of ice clinging to the decorative horns that spread out
the top of the stave. The very top was like a brazier except a
shard of ice was present.
The final and without a doubt most elaborate piece of his outfit
was the feathered mask. A pink bandana wrapped around the green
leather beak to cover his mouth. A pair of tusks hung from it,
making quite an intimidating front. Curling tightly around the
Taurens mane was decorative wooden tiles that had been nested
around feathers that had been dyed pink and green.
- How consistent is your character with following the lore?
As much as is possible. Working out the gap between expansions
can be a bit difficult so I tend to leave it vague IC. Likewise,
the niche of Talon Druid is not really expanded upon except for
the occasional paragraph here and there. No talking bird anytime
soon, thankfully.
- Any specialities s/he has? Perhaps a skill in something, a
behavioural or personality trait that can be considered unique.
Druidy things I suppose? Those can be pretty nifty! Sudden bird
makes for a good party trick.
- What's your activity like?
This is where things might be a bit difficult for me. I work
quite intensive hours and often am not getting home before 7pm
GMT. Will try my best to attend events which are possible
however, it is too early during the week then this isn’t going
to be viable.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Looking forward to
hearing from you all.

Hey there,
Reading through this application was an absolute joy, although
it was pretty lengthy it was very clear and informative.
The first thing that flooded my mind was: "Another Tauren,
another Tauren, another Tauren,..." but I won't let that
influence me (It will, whether I want it or not, Taurens are,
after all, pretty damn cool.)
I have one big question concerning the app and that is: "Why
does fleet want to join a band of lowely Thieves? We -are-
pretty awesome, but what is Fleet's motivation?"
Nothing but love,

Taaaaauuureeeeeen, appprroooooved, wooooo!
I mean-... hello.
A fellow ex-Defias, nice to see you :D And thanks for writing
the app. A quick note on the absence point: the only time we
start getting itchy to kick members are when they don't give us
notice on their absence. We've had people disappear for months
at a time and never tell us whether they will be back, whether
they're just a blank name on the roster or what. As long as we
know when you're away for prolonged amounts of time there is no
problem! RL > WoW, always.
It was nice to learn about your character, and just the general
fact he's a druid and fits. There are some IC classes that the
gang are a bit "eh, oh, ahh.." about as to how much that class
actually fits the guild, but I think your druid will make a nice
addition.
And as said above: approved!

Pretty much what I was thinking, the question was more
curiousity than actual barrier.

“Why would anyone want to throw their lot in with a collection

convenience. Survival in that it is a lot easier to operate when
there are more eyes and less exposed backs. Convenience in that
it allows the coins to gather with a minimal presence. “
Just to expand on this.
Fleet is first and foremost interested in protecting his most
valuable asset (Himself). It is far easier to operate with a
group, to mark potential targets and to distance himself away
from the handling of hot goods. Being able to pass things from
hands to hands to other greedy holds who might pass back gold is
far safer than selling stolen material on himself.
Secondly, more eyes and potential information is another good
thing. He's pretty sure that in most groups he isn't going to be
the slowest, so if shit hits the fan he could take a break for
it with minimal risk.
The other thing to him is that right now he is quite happy being
counted amongst the dead lost in Northrend. It wouldn't do to
have his name bought up and any punishments that might follow.
This is one of the fears keeping him from having a honest day of
work.
Also uh, I just realised I didn't input the answer to this
question:
- Do you accept ‘RP-consequences’?
Of course. I do play Fleet as paranoid to a fault and usually
the first to try running. Which often means the moment the dice
come out I'm the first one to get K.Oed. But if he's stupid
enough to slip up thats his own bloody fault.

Hello there and thanks for applying!
Well thought-out and informative application. After the
questions already stated above, I have little to add!
I personally find it very interesting that his abilities as a
druid are limited, and not just be another arch-druid who
masters every form available in-game plus a few more, and who
switches between them with a snap of fingers. His reasons for
turning into a criminal are quite original, as well - with
druids we often find ourselves troubled with the question "why
would a druid be a criminal", but this is a good example of how
it can work out!
Looking forwards to meeting you in-game, approved!

Been nice to be introduced to your character. Contacting
eachother again ICly will no doubt be beneficial to working
towards Fleet's official becoming part of the gang. My character
at least knows he gets his wares by doing the same thing she
does, so it's only a matter of time before the subject of the
gang and his joining of it pops up. Looking forwards to more RP!

Hey all! I'm not going to be around for the next few months as
my schedule is a crazy untamed beast that didn't justify
carrying on a wow sub for that time.
I may reapply in the future if it seems viable that I'll be able
to make events.
Been fun and you are all a pleasure to RP with.
