Quilan's Application

This is the first time I've ever applied for a guild in a forum
like this, and I've not been in too many RP guilds at all. Seems
simple enough!
Why would Quilan want join the Sixty Thieves?
It is easy, really. Quilan has most his life lived by following
his heart, being his own god. After having a really bad time
with being a merchant, that later became one of the reasons that
made him return to his past self and begin to steal once again.
He did not see another choice that would satisfy him other than
trying to join some sort of theft gang. He also misses that
life, being a thief and all. Quilan finds this exciting, as he
had always been living this life on his own.
OOC: I want to join this guild because I'd like to get back into
RP. This guild has also been recommended to me! Nabukazal was
the biggest reason for me applying for this guild.
Nickname: Olykoek.
How powerful is he? Well, having close to no experience with
blades, axes or firearms, and no experience at all with any kind
of magic. He's not that powerful. What Quilan has been training
mostly is his body, using his fists and feet and being light on
his feet to defend himself. Of course, this won't get you too
far if you're not a monk. But the thing he's mostly been working
on is his ability to get around the place, this could be by
running, climbing, jumping all of that! Basically dexterity.
Background!
Quilan's background is rather dark, but, that's nothing new for
a sin'dorei. His full name is Quilan Heartspell, raised by two
parents, having a brother growing up with him. At first,
everything was mostly fine. But that would obviously change
after the events of the scourge. Many of his relatives were
killed. His mother was wounded, badly. His brother took some
hits, nothing horrible. Him and his father got lucky. This
disaster for the elven society changed him, a lot. His view on
the world changed drastically. Their people being betrayed by
Kael'thas made it even worse. Quilan wanted to get his own home.
A house, only for him. The problem was, he wasn't even close to
getting that financially. Quilan had made his mind up, and
dedicated to getting this house as soon as he could. He decided
to steal the coins. He began with stealing form his own family,
at first it was easy for him, since he knew them so well. Quilan
managed to make it all seem like a burglary. This devastated his
family, it took them a long time to recover. This first theft
got him going, the rush and satisfaction he felt. He wanted it,
again and again. More and more! Some time later, he got offered
a job as a merchant. Quilan took the job, but this didn't make
him stop stealing. It made him want to do it more, but this got
to him. He made a major mistake. He got caught... almost. With a
sprinkle of luck, he just managed to talk himself out of it,
just barely. This made him realize that he had gone too far,
after a lot of thinking he decided to bring it all to an end. He
could make it by the coin he gets out of being a merchant.
Tragically, we already know what happened of that. He was fired
because he got drunk with a friend he made at work, rather
stupid of him.
Lore!
I follow the lore as closely as I can. I don't like
lore-breaking that much. In World of Warcraft I want to RP in
the World of Warcraft.
Is Quilan a Killer?
Not at all, he would only kill if necessary. Also, of course, if
he can kill that person in the first place. He knows his limits.
RP Consequences!
I allow consequences. I like them as well, it would be weird to
RP as a criminal and not accept this, in my opinion.
Speciabilities?
I don't really know what one would consider unique, but Quilan
is a big fan of books. Whenever he has nothing to do, he'd most
likely take what book he has with him, and begin to read. He
wears a cologne's a lot, too. Being nicely dressed and having a
good haircut is his thing. He's not much of a fighter. He'd
rather talk than fight.
My activity.
As I said before, I haven't been in many RP guilds like this one
at all. But when I was, I rarely missed an event. I hope for it
to be the same if I get in here!

Hello, thanks for making the application!
The character seems to have an identity that's all in all a
simplistic thief! (which is in no way a bad thing. Simplicity
is... bestity? ._.)
Either way, I have no questions that need immediate OOC answers
except one: what does the nickname mean, generally and to him?
:o (I mean I could google translate but... but.)

For the nickname, olykoek means doughnut. That's it, just a
"fancy" word for doughnut. For him it doesn't mean anything,
sure he likes doughnuts. He'd have it for a nickname because of
his sense of humor. Another reason would be for him not wanting
his nickname to have anything to do with him personally, if that
makes any sense.

Hello, and thanks for applying!
The character concept seems solid, and the application covers
what we need to know about him. As Fade said above, we
appreciate simplicity in criminal characters.
The nickname caught my eye. What language is it? If english, I
must say I've never come across that word before, and high
chance is many others haven't either (e.g Fade is English).
That's why I'd suggest going for something a little simpler just
for the sake of clarity; "Doughnut", for example!
All in all, a decent-looking application. Approved!

As Fade and Tact said, the character seems like a good fit for
the thieves and I do appreciate a certain simplicity.
The nickname is a thing that's easily adressed and therefor,

Nice and simple, I like! Especially the depth of the background,
showing how the events have shaped him and his criminal
motivations :) I also second Tact's note on the nickname, but up

I see no problem in having the nickname doughnut instead! I will
most likely do that as well. It is English though!

Doughnut, or even things like "Copper / Silver / Gold / Coin" to
show his love for that ka-ching
Either way, nicknames can be addressed later. The important
sections have been answered so...
