Who Cares that 990's Aren't Posted?

I know, major turn off. Same old, same old. Who cares if the
USAT has not posted their 990's and once again this year took an
extension?
As the apparent de facto ED of a Foundation forming to donate
money to USAT athletes, I can tell you donors care. Extension
year after year demonstrates financial instability. Not posting
said 990's until Oct or Nov, says same old to the members and
the other donors out there.
One of the things that stuck with me during those boring board
trainings and my non-profit reading - the BOD needs to
contribute to the org, 100%, all members of the BOD, even if it
is $5. Work is not enough. Secondly, the 990's need to be filed
on time. If you need an extension once - what were the problems
that you couldn't finish by 5/15? Twice - not good - uhh every
year since 2006? really bad.
We might all love TKD, but that doesn't mean other donors don't
have tons of others clamoring for their money. Daily I have
animal rescue groups at my door wanting more, not to mention
political candidates etc.. The question from those a step
farther out is "Why should I donate money to a group that can't
handle their responsibilities?"
So why do I nag about this year after year after year? Because
it is important. Everyone wants more donors and more sponsors
but the BOD is not willing to do what it takes to bring them in.
Start with 100% donation from BOD members yearly and file the
990's on time and post them on time. What do you have to hide?
It always comes out, just get it over.
Besides, at the early Aug BOD meeting (minutes not yet posted in
violation of the bylaws) they discussed it is ready - so why
isn't it posted?
Probably the same reason the 990 is not posted, the National
Assistant Coaches List is not posted, meeting minutes not posted
and Aspire Camps Transparent Accounting not posted.

The culture of TKD is not transparent! This what drives
TKD....the WTF and PATU have the same issue....really a good ole
boys network always has been! Deadlines who needs them I am a
TKD Grand Master!
