Sign of Things to Come

If you listened to the last Audit Committee meeting, you know
there is supposed to be a BOD meeting where USAT dues will be
increased to $50 or more. Seems USAT has a new fundraising
method. Posts by elite Pan Am team member say they have to pay
the organizing committee $10 a day for transportation to train
for the event. It is not much money, will probably cost USAT
more in staff and procedures to collect than they will save -
but hey.
The issues here are:
1. While the fee is in the booklet for the event and the Poomsae
team planned for it, the Sparring team has never had to pay for
so much as a t-shirt. COMMUNICATION. Tell them upfront they will
have to absorb some of the costs of their trip.
2. It makes the USAT look really cheap that they would collect
this small amount. Are they that bankrupt?
3. Parents and athletes, consider this a prelude to the teams
bearing more and more of the costs of being on a USAT team
offloaded to the team members themselves.
If everyone goes into this knowing the costs from day one - as
in before team trials, they can prepare. Athletes bear so many
costs and training cuts into working - that $10 a day adds up
and may make a break a budget not prepared for it.
Once again, COMMUNICATION was definitely lacking until after the
fact when the news got out and it hit facebook.

Lack of communication is a standard practice in all TKD
organizations.... USA, Camada, Mexico and the WTF....business as
usual... I am beginning to think it is taught as a best
practice!
