Re: USAT Website - Warm Fuzzies? New Olympic Coach

I don't believe he checked out. He seemed pretty checked in at
Nationals. There was definitely thought as organization behind
it. And he tied up the loose ends before officially leaving, ie:
results from the event. A person who is checked out doesn't do
that sort of thing. Now Mark, he checked out. I don't think
anyone saw Travis's resignation coming at that time. I
personally think Travis knew the organization was going in a
downward spiral and got out. It just makes me sad that Bruce ran
the good people out. Around 90% turnover isn't good :(

Anyone know if Ryan Lucas, the author of the articles, is a new
addition to the staff or a summer intern?

No idea. I had the same thought myself. He is not listed on
staff.

Journalism 101, check your facts.
"the lone Olympic gold medalist in American taekwondo history"
referring to Steven Lopez, didn't Arlene Limas also win a gold
medal?

Steven Lopez is the only Olympic Gold medalist since a TKD
became an official Olympic Sport in 2000.
Arlene Limas, Lynnette Love, Dana Hee, Jimmy Kim and Herb Perez
all won Gold Medals when TKD was a demonstration sport...88/92!

How could I have forgotten Herb!
Demonstration or official, I think they should all be counted in
"American taekwondo history"

Agreed, all equal in my book...Herb was as great a fighter as
he has been a polarizing figure. A true character in
TKD...always a barrel of fun

Don't think Herb is thinking too kindly of usat these days. But
maybe he learned his lesson on suing people. Wonder how much he
ended up paying the usat after he lost his suit to him and
dropped the one against kim sol
