USAT Website - Warm Fuzzies? New Olympic Coach

USAT has some one who just loves the feel good articles. That is
great, it is wonderful, it is nice to read. However, they are
magazine type pieces that are clogging the "news page" where
people have a hard time finding the information they need. I
think, my personal opinion, that these articles need a section
of their own so members can read them at their leisure.
Someone should also proofread the articles as this one

But then this is USAT which can't even spell USAT correctly in
its own bylaws.
Someone needs to set some priorities for the new staff, and
proofread for accuracy. Nice pieces, just this sort of thing
added to all the information that is not on the site - like the
Nationals Results makes it seem .........

and on and on. Someone tell Jason he is now Olympic Coach, he
apparently didn't know.

Totally agree!
I can't understand why the results from Nationals have not been
posted. It's over, finished, done. There are no decisions to
be made. No waiting for someone holding out for whatever reason.
No drumroll required. Result brackets should have been
completed at the end of each done, just upload them. PLEASE
post the results! I'd like to know how some friends did without
having to ask them, and get the awkward reply "lost my first
match".
It's nice to hear about others in the sport besides the big
names but save it for The Belt. Post the missing items first!

The media person doesn't do results, and never has. Travis and
his wife always stayed up after the event doing the results so
they were posted in a timely manner. I remember talking to her
about it at Nationals the year before last. They have to
manually enter them for every single competitor. Jeanna isn't
going to spend the time doing them.

[/quote] Bill Kellick did results the we hole time he was
media. I sat at the table and watched him many times. I did them
manually when i did usat website. I believe the tournament
management program spits out a report at the end. Worst Case
SCENARIO They Have THE brackets, Which Are updated after each
match. They can b e scanned.

I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. Bill POSTED them to the
website, but only after Travis and staff manually entered them
into the TMS system. I know this because I personally helped
enter them when Travis's wife had to go feed their baby at last
year's nationals in Chicago.

[/quote] actually i sm correct. Travis didn't work all the
years Bill did. So while Travis may gave put the list together,
he didn't in 2006, 2007, 2008 and so on through 2012.

Actually, Travis started in 2007, left in 2010, came back in
January 2011. Bill or Kevin POSTED them to the website. My point
is that when Travis was in charge, he is the one who did the
results. Why is everyone blaming the new media guy? The results
are the responsibility of the events department.

[/quote] 1. There were years all Bill did was post the
completed bracket. 2. Brackets could be scanned and posted. 3.
I recently posted a photo of the school newspaper from my high
school. My phone resolution was such that fb readers from said
high school could clearly read their names, 4. They could get
volunteers who would probably be glad to help if asked. 5. No
one blames the new guy who started the 14th. Neither kevin nor
bill decided what gets posted on the website, that falls on the
ceo who is being blamed for not following through on his 3-5-14
promise to publicly post accounting from the Aspire camps. Nor
has he posted staff reports since April and on and on as well as
not proofreading material that was posted under his instructions
and was incorrect.

1.) Yes, Bill POSTED results, but the results came from the
events department completed. On occasion Bill may have assisted
with entering them, but while Travis was in charge, he had other
TC members tasked to do this so that Bill could focus on the
media aspect of the event. This was never Bill's responsibility
while Travis ran the events. I know this FOR A FACT. I hate to
say it this way and sound negative, but if you say anything else
you are giving out false information. Bottom line, this is the
responsibility of the events department/director, as this is
part of the event, just like posting brackets, which also wasn't
done this year.
2.) Sure, they could be scanned, but they still need to be
completed within the TMS system. What brackets are you saying
should be scanned? I'm confused. The ones that are hung in
holding? They aren't updated throughout the day if that's what
you're referring to.
3.) Good for you? I'm not sure what the point of this statement
is.
4.) You would trust a volunteer to go into the TMS system and
enter the results? Just a volunteer with no staff member/TC
member attached to make sure they are doing it correctly? You do
realize by entering into this system it is super easy to delete
competitors, change brackets, etc?
5.) Yea, you kinda are blaming him... or at least it comes
across that way.
Just my thoughts/opinions/and FACTS :)
