Who Is In San Jose and What's Happening?

I know lines were long yesterday - after the initial post that
things were great, then they went to really long lines.
They called a State Presidents Meeting - which was at 4 pm.
However, they didn't have a room and hadn't told the state
presidents where to be so I had to post on ladytkd asking where
it was so they would know. Any state president not on facebook
all afternoon probably didn't know where it was and missed it.
Marco found a room about an hour before the meeting.
A group I know is running a pool. They are collecting all the
gaffe's and at the end of the event seeing who came up with the
best.

From San Jose - dead rings this am. One of the more productive
rings did 15 poomsae competitors and then broke for a 2 hour
lunch. Running behind and no one has an idea of when things will
be done. Minor irritaitons include the overflow room from
breakfast not opened so some of the referees had to wait a long
time for breakfast, and someone couldn't count referees and
match numbers to chairs. It's still early yet.

Be sure your kids have photo id's. One kid I know of waited at
weigh-in for 1.5 hours. When he got to weigh in, he was turned
away because he didn't have a photo id. Now, the USAT had his
photo but they don't put them on the id. Nowhere do they tell
you (that they saw) that they had to have one at weigh-in. This
I am hearing is a real cluster.

Here is his main question. USAT requires a photo. The photo ends
up on the confirmation page. So why not go back to putting
photos on badges? That is then an id and no one can use it to
get on the floor by borrowing badges. There is a photo in the
system, when you weigh them in it should come up.
A few years ago they talked about bar coded badges. See that
never happened.

No issues with credentials or weighing in. MUCH better than
last year.
One question. Can anyone direct me to where in the USAT
sparring rules
HTML http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Taekwondo/Events/Competition-Rules.aspx
it allows for an octagon mat?
Makes sense to get experience on them. Not a bad idea in theory.
Just wondering where it is permitted under the rules and when
the USAT gave athletes notice of the change or how they are
determining who fights on the square mats and who fights on the
octagons.
