Demanding Accountability of USAT
By: Ladytkd Date: July 1, 2014, 10:24 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Among other things discussed last night, was a discussion on how
the USAT gave those athletes turning 17 by 12/31/15 the wrong
information on their being able to compete at Nationals in the
adult division this year. The USAT posted 12/31/14 which was
wrong. It insisted it was right and just realized it was wrong.
The Selection Procedures contain a number of errors and fingers
are pointing.
Here is a really novel thought - accountability? Who signed off
on the procedures? I know for a fact USOC does not sign off on
these and did not even see these procedures. No one knows how
Nia got to be the USOC AAC Rep Designee, a non-existent
position. I know for a fact the AAC didn't vote on it.
Selection Procedures are not a sign on a dotted line, don't
bother to read them documents. These procedures affect a lot of
athletes and their pocketbooks. Every single procedure seems to
have some major flaw, yet there are guidelines on how to do
them, classes on how to do them, and the sheer fact, they have
been being written for the last how many decades?
Where is the accountability? I heard a lot of fingerpointing, I
have read a lot of same but no one is being held accountable.
The athletes were represented by someone who is a great person,
well intentioned but not trained in this area and is also one of
the National Assistant Coaches. So were the athletes
represented?
How did this happen? Does anyone proofread anything before it is
posted? Do you call posting a selection procedure 6 months
before the camps and events, when it was posted after Phase 1
was complete?
At some point, the concept of accountability comes into play.
Four people signed those procedures. One person made sure it was
posted on the website. Who is responsible? Who is accountable?
Of those four, those who signed it without reading it are the
most culpable. If you don't know how to do the job, allow
someone who does to do it and get it right.
Not saying who said this yesterday to me, but it is a name you
know. The comment was made that "no one in the USAT knows how to
write selection procedures." Not true. There are those who can
and have the experience, they are just not part of the inner
circles. Think about it.

I have been told that the way USAT is going to fix this for
those turning 17 by 12/31/15 is that they will have an open
trials for that group before the Team Trials and the top
competitor from that trials will move to the final Team Trials
for Worlds.
Some are happy with this idea and some are not happy that they
pretty much get a walk.
If USAT had not screwed it up in the first place, there would be
no fixing it.

So the World Class Jr gold medal winners at 2014 Nationals may
not be the 2015 Jr Natioanl Team members after all? USAT better
be ready to handle the complaints! A lot of folks would have
skipped Nationals to pay for a trip to team trials. USAT can't
keep jerking these families around!!! Families have to balance
their checkbooks at the end of the month, a concept USAT doesn't
seem to understand.
Jrs compete in less than a week. USAT is pitiful!

This applies to only a handful of competitors but they could
conceivably still be the Junior winners. USAT - what can I say?

Yes - the other is not official. And if they do follow through,
this only affects those that turn 17 in 2015

Well to be fair to all, the USAT should have open senior trials
for worlds.
Just like they do for Jrs.

Well if there is someone in the Grand Prix Finals - no one else
has a shot at that weight division

But...but..but...Bruce Harris is a TKD person. He has the only
requirement everyone was seeking for the CEO position. Who
needs a business minded CEO?
But..but..but..Patrice Remarck was the AAU's favorite coach.
That's all that matters.
Athlete representation? If that pesky Ronda would shut down her
website no one would care!
Ronda, the Billings (MT) Gazette ran an editorial today
apologizing to its readers for endorsing Obama in 2012. When
can we expect to see a mea culpa on the front page of
ladytkd.com for your whole hearted support from Bruce Harris in
2013?
The idea of the Board hiring someone else to actually do the
CEO's job and paying him at least through the end of the year is
an insult to the membership. There needs to be a change NOW.
