Vendors & Background Checks

Lots of discussion who should or should not have to have a
background check under Safe Sport. AAU requires all adults to
have background checks. USAT requires referees, coaches and a
number of volunteers. What about vendors? Vendors get all
access, they have access to all, should they be held to the same
standards even though they may not be a USAT member.
Example, say a computer tech was out on bail for battery and we
aren't talking spitting at his ex-wife from the front yard.
Battery. Should that person be working a USAT Team Trials or US
Open?
Say same person finally finishes court issues and is on parole
for a year, should that person be working at Nationals or other
USAT events?
And considering I heard about this over a year ago and have
followed the process, and a good number of coaches know all
about this, is it reasonable to think USAT doesn't know - or is
it they don't care?
And yes, I do have the case records if USAT wants to challenge
this. Maybe if it is already not a policy, it should be.

We have USAT officials who think that this is ok.
