The big question is will the 2014 Nationals have any bearing on
the 2015 Jr and Sr National team selection?

Are they going to let 11 year olds compete in Cadet division at
Nationals or did they all just lose their chance to make their
first team?
Who proofread before the CEO, HC and HP sign off on this. There
is no reason to mention World Class division since they decided
not to have one this year.
There is nothing wrong with having the gold medalists become
team members but this is just another reason there should have
been a world class division. Adult rules and qualify to fight.
No reference to an international tournament for Cadets? Has
this been dropped after the fiasco this year?

Actually there can be no 2015 Cadet National Team. The
qualification process states to be eligible an athlete must
compete in the world class division but to make team must win
the grassroots division.
Sloppy as usual. It is time to get PROFESSIONALS IN COS. This
amateur hour bs where no one in any position of authority can
put out even a simple document without multiple errors, stupid
stuff, has got to stop.

TKDDAD my kids have competed in the USAT since 2004 and AAU
since 2006. My son was on the 2013 JR National Team that went
to the Jr Pan Am Championships. He is also on the 2014 Jr
National Team that went to the German Open. My daughter is also
on the AAU SR National Team. So I have pretty good knowledge of
both organizations. I would recommend competing in both
organizations many athletes are on both National Teams. The AAU
Cadet team seem to be good but I have no actual experience with
it because it did not exist when kids where that age.
You definitely get a lot of experience training with both
coaching groups USAT and AAU both organizations have a lot of
positives and a few negatives.

I think they were allowing this without qualifying - but you
would have to call USAT and hope they answer.

It amazes me that no one reads USAT documents and then they are
mad at the messenger for pointing out when things are wrong.
From the USAT website
HTML http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Taekwondo/Event-Calendar/2014/July/01/2014-USAT-National-Championships
Sparring
Cadet (12-14) sparring (ALL BELTS) competitors will use Junior
Safety Rules at the 2014 U.S. National Championships. Starting
in 2015 Cadets in the Grassroots and all Color Belt Sparring
divisions will use Junior Safety Rules and Cadets in the World
Class Divisions will us the full contact rules.
New Rules will be applied to this event, this information will
be provided soon.
Page down same document:
"There will be NO World Class Divisions for Cadets (Sparring and
Poomsae) at the 2014 National Championships."
Now let's check the incredible job done on the 2015 Cadet Team
Requirements:
HTML http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Taekwondo/HP/Athlete-Team-Selection-Procedures
In order to make the team, one must compete at 2014 Qualifying
events, which were already completed before the selection
procedures were posted. Then they need to compete in the 2014
National Grassroots or World Class division (see below) and the
winners of the Grassroots Division are the 2015 team!!!!
Now this is really fun, I have screen prints below. The kids
have to compete in the World Class or Grassroots Division to
make the team to get first shot at the Future Stars Camp. BUT as
you read above, there is NO World Class. They did get it right
that the winner of the Grassroots Division wins, so why even
include World Class in the Selection Procedure when there is no
World Class in 2014? But I think they have two Phase 1's and no
Phase 2's.
This procedure is signed off by the CEO, the High Performance
Director, the USOC AAC Rep and the USAT National Coach. This is
so poorly written. I would go on, but this just speaks volumes.
Just volumes. I am still on vacation - later.
