My thoughts on the new server - Ace

To Matt (but others feel free to read and comment)
Well its come, not sure if it was supposed to be fixed by the
10th but its here early. Some of my previous views about the
change have indeed changed, but I've also found some new views
on the update as well.
First and foremost being the player graphics the whole
"oldschool" argument. As I stated before, I fell in love with
simplexus because of the oldschool, 317/474 character models. Im
my opinion, they were some of the best looking, simple, and
coolest models to equip items to. Again, that is my opinion and
I understand of some people disagree or overall don't care about
this.
Second, I will bring up the point about the Voting and SPX
shops. As i predicted, as soon as we added god wars, everyone
started wanting pvp armours, and as soon as we got those - not
even a month with them - we started wanting torvas and d claws
and corp, and all of these more recent items. I don't know about
you, but my favorite outfit was a berserker helm, ahrims top and
bottom or karils top and bottom, rune boots, rune defender, and
a whip. I loved how the best weapon in the game was a whip and I
remember when I was grinding slayer when i first joined because
I wanted to collect the most whips in the game for some reason.
It was a goal for me in the beginning. But I need to focus on
the voting and SPX shops don't I. Where I was going with this
was, with such an easy introduction of all these recent items,
everybody realized that matt could just snap his fingers when
enough people whined and there would be newer items. I still
would have been happy with d claws and staff of light added,
just as long as they were equipped to a cool, oldschool
character model - not ones with ball-sacks for hands and
testicles for heads that constantly rock back and forth while
standing...like wtf... Anyways, These needs for updated (and the
old server wasn't even complete before everyone started begging
for newer items and weapons) put matt, i assume, in a position
to where he had to be a couple steps ahead of everyone. He had
to fix bugs, add new items, and solve all the bugs that came
with adding new items. So he took what he had made in Old
Simplexus and transferred it to an Epicurus-style server. It
would allow for newer items, less bugs and more fixes - problem
solved! Except not really... Epicurus servers use a 614 (i
believe, matt knows better than me) style character models. But
why should it matter, everyone now gets all their new weapons
and items like chaotic and torva! Forget oldschool, i want to
hit 70s with a chaotic maul and at the same time, eat 1 food
every 2 seconds so its impossible to recover enough health
before i hit another 60+!!! It was so much easier when 40s with
a whip were something to go for, now its going to be hitting 70s
and 80s with primal 2h and chaotic weapons... thus, ruining pvp
combat and forcing matt to make pvm that much harder i.e. Corp
and GWD. but the part about the shops that annoys me is, matt,
you didnt have to put players in a position to where they're
being almost forced to donating just so they can stay
competitive and have items like torva. I donated $59 and it
would have been a lot more if access to more money was easier
for me. King hit over $150! And as soon as you started talking
about new updates, I havent seen him. What I'm saying is, I
gladly donated because I could help this server and be rewarded
in the process. If you just asked, i would have donated however
much you needed if i could afford it at the time! No need to
indirectly beg me/us. now im in a situation where, in the wildy,
Darth is going to barrage me in hit virtus, hit 40s with ice
barrage, and then d claw me and theres nothing my dinky ahrims
and karils can do about it. Thus, FORCING me to stay competitive
and buy d claws, buy torva, and buy all of these extras, just so
Darth doesn't rape my ass every time i step in the wilderness.
If you didnt being on these changes, i would gladly have kept
donating. You could have implemented updates more strategically,
focusing on what you needed to get done and fixing necessary bug
fixes before moving on to the next issue, instead of pausing,
adding spirit shields and pvp armor, fixing the issues with pvp
armor (zuriels was still broken by the way) and then starting a
new set of fixes while leaving the unfinished projects for
later. I imagine it got so backed up that a new server was
NEEDED, i UNDERSTAND!
As an admin, Ive listened to peoples complaints and concerns
just as much as you have and Ive gathered a pretty good
understanding of the problems that needed fixing and the
improvements that must be made in the old server. All I could
say was, 'im sure matts either working on fixing it or fixing
something more important at the moment.'
Dont get me wrong, I love the idea of fixing all of these issues
in one fell swoop while also adding newer content that people
would want later. But you could have implemented it into 317/474
character models, right?
I'd also like to mention pures look badass in oldschool attire.
Here's what I want (and it's not my idea, i just think its a
good way to fix my concern about the character models)"
A separate world, possibly under the same webclient, where there
are:
-317/474 character models
-whips and d bows, master wands are the best weapons
-NO PVP ARM
-NO SPIRIT SHIELDS
-NO TORVA or any of that bs
-NO PRIMAL
-NO TESTICLE HEADS
-NO TURMIOL PRAYERS
-Barrows is the best arm
-Seperate banks from the new server
-refreshed stats in this new oldschool world
-x100 xp rate but it may be changed to x50 if darth and i find
it too easy
-better crafting options (rings of wealth, rings of life,
phoenix necks, recoils, etc)
-No obscene donator/voting shop (just the stuff like phats and
masks like before)
If it isnt possible we can talk about it, maybe another separate
server is needed(i will help pay for it if necessary) I just
need your opinion on this idea. Is it possible? what do you
need? should there be a poll? what can i do to help?
If there is an oldschool world/server added, thats where you
will find me 99.999999999999% of the time, i promise.
because it resembles the old simplexus, the simplexus i loved
-Ace, Admin, player, long time supporter of simplexus (I joined
before this forum profile was created)
If anyone sympathizes with me, agrees with me, disagrees with
me, feel free to comment below. I'd like to get a statement from
everyone on this issue, but this is directed to matt, from me,
along with you guys, so please comment!

couldn't agree more! i joined because of the oldschool feel and
look of things! it should of stayed like that and simply added
gfx and new items to it. used current map areas for new bosses
like corp etc.. it could be done instead of this where i feel
like im playing a cheap version of a 508 server.. if you're
gonna change it to look like this might as well make it 508
which dont get me wrong i love 508s they;re not oldschool but
not newschool they just perfect.
it should be make current server a 508 Eco since it's more
cleaner and clients can be adjustable for fullscreen and etc..!
and make a oldschool world. i personally would love a 508
client/eco for regular stuff pvming skilling etc... and an
oldschool to pk but thats just me

well some points are good, but in all my thoughts to be honest i
dont really care what happends, ill prob end up enjoying my self
anyways, so i am not really to person to ask these sorts of
questions but i do agree on some things, no matter what ill
always be on simplexus servers no matter waht even if it looked
like cut out paper i would still play simple reason is because
the players are friendly and good to get along with, well thanks
for your thoughts man :)

i agree with you ace, with everything.
i mostly dislike that i have to donate for everything i like. so
i am not going to donate for it cuz that would cost me my bank
account xD and im safing up for a new car...
i like the old graphics better, this is too much details i can't
even see it anymore just looks like a pile of poo if you ask me,
not disrespectfull but yeah i just love the old simplexus for
being oldscool...
