Infra Red Night Vision - Cheap

Hi Guys, I am gonna take a chance and show you my latest project
- I am hopeful !!!
I am a bit of a gadget/techno lover and been trying to get a
scope cam with ir nightvision.
I have been looking at ir night vision gear and it all seems
very expensive, I have bought a few bits and pieces to try and
setup myself but am probably coming up to the cost of NV200, but
I am determined to crack it myself;
I got a scope cam mounting bracket of ebay which is very good;

So I have been looking for a digital camera which responds to
infra red. Not many around.
I could mount it to my scope with this bracket;

My secret is...... I found that these modern day black boxes for
cars, marketed for taxi drivers/couriers, which seem a good job,
they respond to ir light for recording in the dark.
Many of them claim to have nightvision but merely have a few
extra LEDs but some actually do work with an ir lightsource, and
are equipped with one or two weak ir lamps.
My plan was to use one of these cam to make a nightvision scope.
Approx £40 from ebay to get a suitable cam and mount it to my
scope bracket;

Seems like a good job, although upside down here for mounting,
it actually allows you to invert the picture. It also records to
memory card, gives a good lcd display monitor and even reacts to
ir light.
This can be mounted with the scope bracket;

all fits together very well;

Also can be connected to a usb output for use as a webcam, this
means I can record and use to shoot , zero or just show off lol
Can be used as a live webcam while connected to scope.

I have tried this with a small IR source to illuminate but its
poor, so I have ordered a new IR laser and hope this will work
well.

nice, came up with something similar a few years ago using a
small security camera and an lcd screen, good luck with it and
post up a few videos when youre done :)

Any updates, has your IR illuminator arrived and have you tried
this out yet...?

i have been making one myself the best i have seen os the one on
rollins bench on YouTube he suggests using a really good 1/3
Sony bullet cam there are cheap and expensive ones ranging from
£10 up to £150 i go a middle of the range 700tvl one waiting
for it to come from Japan...
the genius way in which he mounts it is that he has every going
attached to a length of weaver rail with is attached yo rifle
by one quick release screw.
the image he produces at 200 yards is Crystal clear ....

Brilliant love all this stuff too, but I abandoned the ideas
when out lamping foxes as you have literally a split second on
the target, have you any video's up yet?
