       Bought my first shotgun... again!

Today has been a strange day and no mistake, talk about
       conicidence lol
I was out of the office for a while this morning and called into
one of the local gunshops in Newry (I wasnt skiving, I was on my
break... honest...). I picked up a couple of bits and pieces and
asked the owner if he had any double barrel 12ga's in, as I was
going to look at a .223 on Saturday and had been thinking of
getting a cheap side by side and putting it through with the
application. So he starts showing me the guns, an aya, a
winchester, a basque... and i stopped him right there and asked
for the basque. He looked at me a bit weird but handed it over,
and when he did i immediately flipped it over and checked the
screws underneath, pointing out the one i'd damaged years ago
when trying to remove the plates to give the hammers a clean. He
didnt believe me at first til he checked his book and yes, It
was my original gun and Id left it in on 22/06/2007. as you can
imagine my wallet was out quicker than the speed of light ;D
Theres quite a story behind it. The gun had originally belonged
to my ex's dad (who passed away before I started seeing her).
Her uncle had put it on his licence after her father died, but
her uncle was in his 80's and "away with it", so the police took
the guns in for safe keeping to the local station. When I
started going out with her she told me about them and I tried to
convince her to let me get a licence when we were living
together but she wouldnt hear of it (vegetarian animal rights
type ::)) even though she knew i'd been shooting for years
(though mostly 5.56 rifles). But after a few rows she eventually
relented and let me get a licence. It was in poor condition, so
i spent £200 getting it reblued (well, she spent £200 as a
birthday present to me lol) even though I was told I was mad as
it was worthless. We stayed together for about a year after
that, and when we broke up I left the gun into the shop in Newry
for her or her family to pick up. I found out about a year later
they didnt bother collecting the gun, and it was still sitting
in the shop, but when I came in with the money to buy it I was
told it had been sold 2 days before!! i thought i'd never see it
again, but apparantly the new owner kept it for 3 or 4 years
before trading it in against another gun last year ;D

not a great picture but that was taken in 2007. A couple of
months before me and my ex broke up I was considering changing
the gun for something a bit flasher ::) so i took it out for a
walk around the fields to prove to myself i needed a new gun as
I couldnt hit anything with that one.... i took 14 shells with
me and came back 2 hours later having shot 5 rabbits, 4 crows, a
pigeon and a magpie, plus id shot one rabbit twice and had two
unfired shells left, so i never missed a single shot with it
that day :D heres hoping itll be the same story in a couple of
months when I get it back on my licence ;)
