Means its in the pile and they haven't got round to it.
Or, if you didn't hand in enough acreage, or the acreage hasn't
been previously passed for use with that calibre, then they will
have to check it over.

Got my rimfire in 2 weeks, my shotgun too, but the centrefire
and air rifle took 4 1/2 months, and then had to get the BASC to
chase the PSNI twice too, which they didnt like and let me know
in no uncertain terms ???

roughly?? il email them once a fortnight to put a bit of
pressure on them. are rimfires hard to get?

From start to finish, I think it takes 8 minutes to process an
average application. I'd love to see an itemised timeline for a
1 week variation, never mind 4 months. Someone somewhere is
deliberately holding things up. Probably waiting for the person
who applied to slip up somewhere so they can refuse the grant.

8minutes? thats brilliant what a bunch of clowns.. they must
have the worst admin skills ever.. i know for a fact if someone
complained that they would be punished when they added on
another firearms at a later stage!! disgrace..

Fingers crossed it comes through soon.
IMO Emailing them yourself will only get on their nerves and you
could find your application being misplaced, being looked into
in greater detail, being dealt with by a colleague who is off
sick at the moment.... etc etc. :( best bet is to start
getting in touch with your local politicians, ie mla's. i did it
a few years ago and had my first 17 hmr in under 3 weeks from
posting the forms til the licence came through the letter box -
and that included a grilling by two feo's in between.
lisnasharragh were taking ages to do variations at the time, so
a few of us came up with a template email/letter to be sent to
all local politicians voicing our concerns and asking why
exactly it was taking so long, then they (mostly) got onto the
police and started asking questions.
Maybe its time everyone on here did something similar.....? ;)

mate, id prefer to stay in the psni good books if I can.. if i
get on there nerves it will do me no favours for future grants
or variations. wen it comes it comes. as long as i have it for
summer.. can always use air rifle in the mean time..
