Local Golf club - what ammo .22lr
       By: Salar6 Date: February 26, 2013, 3:00 pm

Got permission to shoot my local golf club. Was thinking of
using Superten until I walked the area where rabbit problem is
and could use the 22 rimfire with subsonic ammo in one area as
it is a hole in big sand bunker with a nice lie up at 100m and a
good backstop. Any tips as have never lamped before. Will
probably be shooting on my own. Should I try and reduce the
range of firing. Still have to mount my new Leapers and zero it
       (100m?).
       All help greatfully recieved ;D

i do alot of work on golf courses and first thing is get to know
your ground both during the day and at night plus remember were
you see signs of rabbits and safe shooting areas including good
       safe back stops
i only use subs either eley or winchester i go out lamping as
well as first light and get a few hours before the course opens
speck to the grounds men they will tell you were the most damage
is being done as well as were most of the rabbits are seen ,the
trouble i ve got is a nature reserve beside mine that encourages
rabbits but hey more targets for me

was reading in one off those gun mags , a guy did it as a job
but got a call from a golf course to do a proper job on rabbits
as the guys before had shot onto the greens i guess wrecking
the surface so i reckon keep your shots to bunkers and fairways
that way you,ll keep your permission only a tip good luck

oh to me i would shorten your zero to about 70 yards , when
lamping the little bunnies pop up at all ranges sometimes 40yds
rite up to 100 plus this way you can raise or lower your cross
hairs a little bit to suite the range , my first lamping
shoots were at 100 and anything close was missed it took a
while but once we changed to 70 the results were much better .
this is what suites me and me friends but not what you have to
do im sure others here will give their advice

Hope to head out soon. Have been trying for about 2 weeks to get
my new scope on my Brno .22 no joy.Took it to a gun shop in
Eglington near Derry. I have never seen one like that before he
said, when was it made? Late 60's early 70's said I. Turns out
the mount rail is about 15mm and looks to have been made to take
Parker Hale specific mounts. The scope objective lens was
touching the old iron sights and was siting about 6-8mm too
high. He said he'll find out if there are a set of high mounts
available but they'll probably cost a fortune. So--------
All change. 3x9 x40 from Supersport to BRNO replacing the 4x32
Nikko Sterling. 4x40 unknown from the Superten to Springer and
new 6x24x50 Leapers to Superten. Guess what they'll all need
zeroing. Work cut out for me, then I can check bunnies out. Have
already been told about greens by the groundskeeper as a
previous holder shot bunnies on greens and he wasn't amused.
       Hint taken!!! ;D
Tune in next week for the next episode

i had the same trouble with my old cz took a grinder to the
iron sight to get a sight on works just fine now lol
another point make sure to lift all your empty cases especially
around the greens and paths and leave no dead rabbits around
even in the cover as you never know whos going for a piss and
finds them then tells the greenkeepers or the office ,the
problem is once people know that someone has permission on there
they will all want it and go out of there way to make you look
bad so they can get on ,saying they can do better or pointing
out your bad bits ,be careful and enjoy

top advice from dc there - in & out again without anyone knowin
you were even there -- tell no one where you are allowed to
shoot these wabbits & watch out for poaches and whoors out with
dogs at night as you'll come across dog walkers at all time of
       the night.

Guys thanks for the tips. Will keep them in mind. Good house
keeping whilst dressed in an Invisibility cloak . LoL ;D
Mums the word. Course is on the third rock from the sun. Once I
get out and have a go will let you know how I get on.
