chance.
Anything woodcock related feel free to post it here. Pictures,

THEY ARE DEFINITELY HERE LADS
Got the chance today to have my first try at a woodcock this
season and what a chance it was. Started about 11am just a few
miles from Maghera and within 50yards of the car had my first
sight of a woody. Rose from a small row of conifer trees he was
some 40 yards before I got a clear shot and promptly missed with
both barrels. DOH! Just another few steps and I hear the clatter
of wings again from the same row of trees only this time I didnt
wait for a clear view and threaded an ounce of 71/2s through the
foliage to connect with my first of the year. I hadnt long to
wait for my second either or third... finishing at around
2oclock after flushing 13 or so shooting at 9 and with a
magnificent 6 in the bag. I did however shoot 7 today but was
unable to retrieve one from a large area of whin bushes. It must
have got caught high up in the foliage as the dog could not get
it.
My best ever first day at woodcock and a great start especially
so early. I wouldnt have expected this for at least another two
weeks. Best of luck for anyone trying tomorrow. Might we
possibly be in for a good year???

Took the dogs a run this morning. They done a good bit of cover
for a couple of hours flushing 4 birds. A lot fewer than friday
but still good for being so early.
