Great job woodcock , looks good thanks for taking the time to do
it ;D
Just a question but what all would be involved in realeasing
pheasants ?? I mean it would be great if we all could and if
poachers left well alone ::) but is it big heartache , must you
release poults or could you let out older birds and would they
stay in the Forrest?? Sorry if there stupid question as I've no
clue lol just asking ;D

Thanks WC that's a winner !
SA, as for releasing pheasants, I think it's too big a forest
the numbers needed would be big, plus it's a bit far away for
people to keep an eye on and maintain when they are in pens. And
with the addition of guaranteed poachers I don't think it would
be worth the hassle and expense at this stage. But it would be
nice

Got a couple of hours this evening when the rain eased a little
so took a quick run to Garvagh and had a look round Gortnamoyagh
forest. I then parked on the temple road and went for a walk
with the two dogs. I walked along a forestry road and didnt
venture too far into the cover. This is the route I took.

It took me an hour and a half to walk round this short area. I
flushed two woodcock along the way both of which would have been
shootable, one at each of the two locations marked in yellow,
and photos below.

There are plenty of more open areas within the forest offering a
good chance of a shot. I also flushed a hare from an open area.
And heres a photo for you big rifle men. The area must be full
of them, tracks and droppings everywhere, bark of trees and
other signs of heavy traffic.

WC1 can we get a copy of an Environmental Impact Assessment
carried out for this area in 2007 in case there is anything in
there we need to know? We could request it when asking for
application to tender and if nothing else shows we did our
homework.
